  1. I, too, caved and bought the Witness. And also, yes I did steal FLD's link for that image.
  2. Yeah, I just took it as "Lol, silly us, we done goofed, but luckily you're not actually missing out on anything".
  3. I never played any of the final fantasy games where you could do that, but I really liked the related system in DA:O where you programmed your allies' AI. *Edit - I like the dominoes comparison. The game isn't playing itself because you're the one telling it how to decide when to do what, you're just playing at a different level of abstraction. You're playing the commander who gives general guidance to his troops, but doesn't micromanage every single thing they do.
  4. It's been years since I played them, so I may be combining issues from different games, but I distinctly remember that with all three while playing I felt like the combat was a chore I had to put up with for the fun parts. I did not feel that way with TLoU, because you could always stealth with the exception of like 2 encounters. People say you can do the same in Uncharted, but if so it wasn't made clear enough for me to realize it was an option at the time, or perhaps it just felt too fiddly to actually do it.
  5. Agree to disagree. The changing arena for the wave based fights does very little to alleviate my boredom with the fact that they're still wave based, but if you enjoy it I have no beef with that.
  6. I want to be clear: the headshot thing was not my primary complaint with Uncharted, I was just responding to what FLD said. But I do seem to recall really stupidly heavily armored guys that took forever to kill regardless of where you shot them. My issue with the encounter design is that it's usually (but not quite always) "wait in this area while wave after wave of guys come at you, then advance one room and repeat". It's boring, and goes on way too long, and gets in the way of the fun explory/stealthy bits. RotTR's encounters are fewer, farther between, shorter, and with much more opportunity for employing stealth if you want (though you can always run in guns blazing too if that's what floats your boat).
  7. Yeah, weird.
  8. Yes, in RotTR every enemy will go down in 1 headshot, unless they have a helmet in which case sometimes it takes 2. Never more than that.
  9. Uncharted 2 still had the terrible enemy encounter design that is the downfall of those games. Which is not to say that there are no bad encounters in RotTR, but in Uncharted nearly every encounter is a bad encounter.
  10. Sounds like it would go in the good movie thread then. (It's not the "great" movie thread )
  11. Nothing, I have 0 interest in it for the same reason (except I knew enough about myself to know it wouldn't interest me without buying it first).
  12. Finished Rise of the Tomb Raider this morning. It's an excellent follow-up to the 2013 reboot, keeping what worked and expanding on the exploration. I highly recommend it to anyone who liked the 2013 one. And so much better than Uncharted.
  13. They were waiting until the whole game was out, plus they've put some extra work into it (like the lipsync patch that thankfully everyone gets), not to mention all the extra physical items in the Limited Edition.
  14. Yeah, the disc version just came out this week. Hella.
  15. The stuff I read said it was actually the opposite: everything was censored at first but now on iTunes and Vudu it's uncensored.
  16. I was just looking into that show earlier today, and what I saw said the web version had weird censoring issues, but that the bluray is completely uncensored.
  17. Went a little preorder crazy with the new Amazon Prime deal.
  18. I'm so close to preordering Gravity Rush HD. It's really only my backlog that's stopping me.
  19. I preordered it so I could get in to the beta, then cancelled my preordered once I had the beta code.
  20. Amazon Prime now has 20% off all game preorders and new releases (first two weeks after release), and Amazon Prime itself is on sale for $73 (down from $99) through tonight at 11:59 PM Eastern (GMT -5).
  21. Dove into Rise of the Tomb Raider and played for about 3 hours. So far it is exactly what I'd hoped it would be.
  22. Now that I've finished Rogue Legacy my life is empty and meaningless.

That has to be a major inconvenience for Mrs. Cowboy...

I mean, the game has stacking new game pluses. Unless you beat those too?

  23. Rogue Legacy! I beat the fourth boss on the first try and felt like a badass! I did not beat the final boss on the first try... Fantastic game. I'm tempted to dive right into NG+ even though I still have a huge backlog...
  24. Cloverfield sequel. The title is stupid as hell, but the rest looks like it could be interesting. As I was watching it I was thinking "this could just as easily be a trailer for a Fallout movie."
