  1. See thread title, check OP, of course that's who it was... I have to disagree with SL about the core of Zelda. I haven't played Madness Returns so I can't comment on its combat, but I would agree that the combat in Zelda isn't amazing. The thing is, combat isn't the core of Zelda, the puzzle-dungeons are. Combat is ancillary except during boss fights, and even there the bosses are set up more like puzzles than normal combat encounters. Skyward Sword was a little bit of an exception to this, as it did have more of an emphasis on combat, but even there I wouldn't say it rose to prominence over the puzzle-dungeons. I also can't dispute that the Zelda formula is repetitive, but I think for the people who still enjoy the series (like me) it's mainly about solving your way through the puzzle-dungeons, and those are always different. As an aside, I'm confused by the Darksiders comment. I know that post was from a year ago, so fair enough if you can't remember the point you were making, but it seems to me like Darksiders' combat is nothing like Zelda's, and is in fact significantly better. I'd say that's about the only thing Darksiders did better than Zelda.
  2. Wait, y'what?! Are you saying that in games your equipment choice doesn't matter because it's mainly aesthetic, or that people make the decision based on what looks good? If the former, then that just ain't true! (Of Bloodborne at least.) But if you're saying that people make decisions which aren't practical in the long-run, choosing what looks good, then fair enough. I'm saying that people, mainly myself, make the decision based primarily on aesthetics. I don't care if that armor's better, if it looks stupid I ain't wearing it.
  3. Seems similar to this site for US elections.
  4. Yay! *Edit - Also, re ME3: they really fixed a lot of the problems with the ending with the Extended Cut.
  5. Like I always say, equipment choice is 25% practical, 75% aesthetic.
  6. I consider that type of mini-expansion DLC part of my backlog, but that one actually didn't qualify because I don't put games I got for free on my backlog (otherwise it would be full of PS+ games that I likely will never play). There's another exception to that rule though, which is that if I got it as a gift from an actual human being who picked it for me specifically then it goes in the backlog.
  7. I started playing Sunset Overdrive, and so far I'm really enjoying it. Not really much else to say.
  8. Those are some serious speakers for a PC... Do you not have a phone to take the picture with?
  9. Arise, thread! This is a new area I set up in the same room as my computer. That's the TV that we replaced with the new 4k one. This one's 47-inch 1080p, so it's pretty nice for gaming. I've got the PS4 and Xbone there (the Xbone is on the bottom shelf, hard to see in this picture). My computer is off to the left, and I got a 25 foot HDMI cable from Amazon so that I can have it hooked up to the TV too.
  10. Assassin's Creed Unity: Dead Kings. I actually liked the mission designs for this more than for the main game overall. Or rather, they were all the types of missions that I like, ones involving more stealth, assassination, etc. Can't stand up to Freedom Cry, but I guess that's to be expected since Unity can't stand up to ACIV.
  11. Idk, it says "Game Engine Footage" through the whole thing. Obviously it's not gameplay, and it's probably not even realtime, but I think both those caveats apply to the whole trailer equally.
  12. What are you talking about? The whole thing was in-engine, none of it was in-game...
  13. I don't know how to tell you what it's like, but Lego Marvel is great.
  14. I'm guessing Mankind Divided isn't coming out until next year.
  15. People often bitch about Steam, but it really is one of the best game download/management clients. At least there you wouldn't have to redownload the whole game, just have it check and redownload the broken files.
  16. When did you transfer to the marketing department?
  17. Never Alone. All the Inuit culture stuff was neat, but the game itself wasn't very good and it kind of ran like ass. It's basically a puzzle platformer with super clunky platforming controls. Of all the times I died or missed a jump I only felt like it was my fault maybe 25% of the time.
  18. Again, according to the EU. Everything that wasn't in the actual movies is now thrown into question.
  19. Okay, at this point I think you're just willfully misinterpreting what I'm saying, so I'm done. *Edit - No, I'm trying one more time: In GTA heists, if you have 4 people on a team, and one person dies, leaving 3 alive, it ends the mission in failure, regardless of the fact that there are still 3 people alive and kicking. In LBP you have a shared pool of lives, so if one person dies it takes from that pool. If there are 0 lives left, and one person dies, that person does not respawn, HOWEVER the remaining players get to continue playing unless and until they also die. It does not end the level in failure merely because one person died with no respawns. LBP does not work like GTA. This is the difference I was pointing out. The systems are related, but distinct, and the GTA one is MUCH more frustrating.
  20. I think it's you who's cocking up your wording, since everyone seemed to understand what I meant and misunderstood you the same way I did. Just to be clear: The trope Jack was complaining about is that in GTA in heists if 1 person dies it fails the whole mission, even if other people are still alive. You then said "LBP does that too". Implying that in LBP, like in GTA, if one person dies when there are no lives left it ends the game, even if other people are still alive. I said LBP lets each person keep playing until they themselves die, it doesn't end the game just because one person died. You apparently agree with that. So argument over.
  21. No, you don't fail, unless the last person ALSO DIES. If you and I are playing coop, and have 0 lives, and you die, it doesn't end the game unless and until I also die. This is as opposed to the GTA heists, where it DOES end the game when someone dies, even if others are still alive.
  22. According to Wookieepedia their average lifespan is 400+ years BUT that info is surely from the EU, which has been deprecated.
  23. I've had my eye on it for a while, and it happened to drop in price to exactly the amount I needed for free shipping on another order.
