Butter that's not how Catherine is, it's not just exposition. In Catherine you get to take plenty of actions that should define the attitudes of your character, but the instant is a cutscene he acts one way no matter what you've done. Fine, they don't want to give me control I don't care, but then don't pretend you're giving me control just to take it away later. Also, the fact that the ending /is/ determined by your choices make it really jarring unless you go one particular route, because nothing in the story led up to it.
*Edit - Really, I'm not saying it needs to have choices, I'm just saying that if it does have choices those need to be reflected. P4 did perfectly fine at acknowledging your choices without them really affecting anything. And if they wanted to not have choices at all that would be fine too. It's the shitty implementation of the choices that bothers me.
