  1. Butter that's not how Catherine is, it's not just exposition. In Catherine you get to take plenty of actions that should define the attitudes of your character, but the instant is a cutscene he acts one way no matter what you've done. Fine, they don't want to give me control I don't care, but then don't pretend you're giving me control just to take it away later. Also, the fact that the ending /is/ determined by your choices make it really jarring unless you go one particular route, because nothing in the story led up to it. *Edit - Really, I'm not saying it needs to have choices, I'm just saying that if it does have choices those need to be reflected. P4 did perfectly fine at acknowledging your choices without them really affecting anything. And if they wanted to not have choices at all that would be fine too. It's the shitty implementation of the choices that bothers me.
  2. He kind of looks like my evil Fable 2 character...
  3. Looking at the Amiibos coming up in the future, I might actually want Bowser Jr...

My friend keeps trying to get Rosalina to no avail. Just get it, as you can sell it later on eBay if you don't want it.

Well it's not released until like August or September or something.

  4. But in that kind of situation, because the item or shortcut remains, you still had tangible in-game progress. I'm fine with death in that kind of situation, a calculated death that accomplishes something. It's when the death requires me to redo something tedious, especially when you're expected to die multiple times in the same place. If I can just run past all those enemies to get back to the boss, why even put me that far back? Why not just put me right outside the boss room? Having to run past them isn't challenging, it's tedious. I play games to enjoy them, not to redo boring things multiple times. Not trying to say that they're bad games or that people are wrong for liking them, just I feel like a lot of people act like if you don't like them it's just because you're a pussy who can't bear failure. Not that you're doing that.
  5. Well this is what I was referencing: http://youtu.be/3Wwv5YSM0JM?t=10 *Edit - Apparently you can't embed with a time code.
  6. I liked Catherine too, although one major issue I had with it is that the game is all about choice, and acts like it's giving you choices, but then those choices are completely ignored in the cutscenes which (except the end cutscene) are all the same no matter what you do. Like, I'm not someone who thinks that every game needs to offer you narrative choices, but if they do then I want the game to at least pretend like they matter. And I don't mean that they don't matter in the sense that they don't affect events, I mean they don't matter in the sense that your character expresses certain desires and whatnot in cutscenes, regardless of whether that has any resemblance to the the choices you've been making.
  7. Hmm, I'm a little interested in Akiba's Trip, but $25 is still high. I wish it were 75% off, I'd defo try it for $12.50. *Edit - Same with the Korra game, if it were $5 I'd probably do it, but $7.50 seems too high.
  8. Well then maybe I'll rent it to check it out, once I put a bigger dent in my current backlog.
  9. Watched the video, and based on that and what you guys have said it sounds like I still wouldn't like it. Too bad.
  10. Yeah, obviously the animations are altered by the environment (the most obvious example being like you said, stepping from one surface to a higher surface), but there's still a premade animation there that is being altered by the simulation, not like ragdoll where it's entirely physics-based.
  11. My favorite part is this part: "We're not responsible for our actions, we're only doing it because someone else told us to."
  12. Would someone like me, with the issues I've expressed with Dark Souls, potentially be interested in Bloodborne? This is one of those things that everyone makes such a big deal about that I feel like I'm missing out, kinda like how I felt about Persona before P4G consumed me.
  13. I feel like ragdolls work really well for stuff like dead bodies because the way they're going to interact with the environment is too complicated to predict for canned animations. In pretty much every other instance though I prefer canned animations. And even for bodies I feel like the idea solution is to start the death animation with a canned animation and then transition to ragdoll toward the end of the collapse.
  14. I only made it to the first real boss in Dark Souls 2. Never even tried Dark Souls 1. I can deal with difficulty, I just didn't like the amount of retracing steps required after death. I want hard games to be more like Super Meat Boy, where it kills you constantly but you only lose like 5 seconds of progress.
  15. So I lied. Although now I really do have every Amiibo I'm even remotely interested in, unless the Charizard comes back in stock or they come out with new ones that I want (though I can't imagine what those might be, other than a Blastoise, but since Blastoise isn't in Smash I don't think that's likely... Also maybe a Petra, but same thing, not in Smash).
  16. You have to remove the s from https to embed.
  17. He's making a really long-winded pun on "entitled" referring to his username (his title).
  18. As a Kansan, Oklahoma is that place with all the red dirt and shitty roads. Nebraska is the place with all the corn and shitty roads. Missouri is the place with all the porn billboards (that's why it's the "Show Me" state) and shitty roads. Colorado's the place with the mountains and kinda shitty roads.
  19. My favorite part is how the entire exercise only involves 1,200 troops. Yeah, that's totally enough to take over Texas...
  20. That shit where they take their equipment is absolutely horrible. I can't believe any game ever did that, let alone all the games.
  21. Valve doesn't deserve anything for providing distribution architecture?
  22. The governor of Texas has ordered the Texas National Guard to monitor a US Army training exercise due to internet rumors that it's a cover for a military takeover of Texas, because everyone is completely fucking insane.
  23. I've never beat any Mario game from before Mario 64, though I've beat every home console one from there on. I've gotten to the last world of SMB3, but never beat it.
