  1. Yeah, that UI is badass. I hope third party devs actually use the hints thing, because it seems way more convenient than pulling out my phone and trying to find something explaining it reasonably. I also really like that the activities give you an estimated time to complete, so you don't sit down with 45 minutes to play and end up getting into something that's going to take an hour and a half without realizing it. I hope those times are based on actual user data though, and not just developer estimates. *Edit - Others have noted that the PIP thing with your friends' games could be great for playing coop games too, so you can kind of keep an eye on what's going on with them.
  2. Don't you know? When adapting movies you have to change the setting and characters to make it as boring as you possibly can.
  3. Oh yeah, I'm not saying Assassin's Creed is going to be better or more interesting than Cyberpunk certainly, but since I am planning to play both of them on PS5, and Assassin's Creed has the full next-gen version available at the launch of the console, but Cyberpunk won't have it available until next year, I'll just wait until I can get the fully-featured version of Cyberpunk. If the next-gen version of Cyberpunk was going to be available at launch then I'd be making the opposite choice and holding off on Assassin's Creed.
  4. That all makes sense. I do want to say regarding scope, all the previews I've read/listened to make it sound like it actually feels quite good to play. You bring up a good point about bugs, which I guess is another good reason to wait for the next-gen upgrade next year, since hopefully any major bugs will have been patched by then.
  5. The embargo just dropped on a 7 hour hands-on preview for multiple outlets for Assassin's Creed Valhalla, and it looks like they fixed my every concern with Odyssey, so here we are. I obviously won't have enough time to play this, plus Miles Morales, plus Cyberpunk, so I'm thinking I'm going to cancel Cyberpunk and I'll wait to get it until the full next-gen upgrade launches sometime next year.
  6. Even though it doesn't serve a purpose regarding the specific confirmation of this specific judge, I do think it serves a valid purpose in showing voters what the two parties care about for judicial nominees, and therefore could influence which party you want in power.
  7. My guess is that most games work fine with the backwards compatibility system without any effort required at all from the devs, but a few of them would require tweaks to fix specific issues for those games, and of those few that require tweaks these are the ones that the devs said it's not worth it.
  8. AC Odyssey: Legacy of the First Blade This is the first DLC pack for Odyssey. It was fine, but nothing special.
  9. That's really cool, only 11 PS4 games won't work backwards compatible.
  10. Almost there! Man, 25 plats, that's making me feel lame for my 16.
  11. Yeah, I measured a while ago to make sure it would fit in my entertainment stand, and that's when I realized that it is absolutely massive.
  12. Goddamn, I must suck at that game. Even with God mode on I did like 15 runs and never even made it to the second boss.
  13. There's a setting where it will keep low level enemies from falling much below you, but no setting to bring the high level ones down to you.
  14. Apparently the PS5's power supply is only 350W. That's kind of nuts, my PC draws a little more than 500 under load.
  15. I liked Foundation quite a bit, but agree it didn't feel resolved. AWE definitely was underwhelming.
  16. I'm already playing on easy, and googling doesn't turn up anything specifically about XP boost mode or anything (other than the paid ones, which fuck that). How much side stuff were you doing? Because if I ever tried to do more than a few story missions in a row I quickly found my player level being outstripped by the mission level, and being forced to go do side activities to level up to be able to progress.
  17. God, Mario Sunshine is so much better than 64. Mario actually controls reasonably, the levels are better designed, it's just flat more fun. Also, they nailed it with the art style, running in 1080p it looks almost as good as a real Switch game. Also, I tried to dive into Assassin's Creed: Odyssey again a couple days ago to do the DLC I bought, and damn I'd forgotten how grindy that game is. I'm nowhere near the level I need to be to finish the base game content, and I don't want to have to do a bunch of side shit to get there, so I bounced. It's bad game design if even on easy you can't mainline the main story because you'll be underleveled*. But then this morning it occurred to me that I'm on PC, maybe there's a mod, and sure enough there's a tweak mod that lets you set the XP multiplier to whatever you want, so I should be able to get up to level quite quickly. ? *I know this is standard practice in JRPGs, and classic style WRPGs to a lesser extent, but at least there you know to expect it. When I start an action RPG I don't expect to have to grind, and I don't have time for it.
  18. Mario 64 Beat this for the 507th time in the Super Mario 3D All-Stars collection, and man it does not hold up anymore, though it pains me to say so. Mario controls clunky, the camera is awful, the level design is simplistic, the list goes on. It was an amazing accomplishment for the time, especially considering no one had ever really made a good 3D platformer before, but it just has not stood the test of time. I almost didn't finish it when I got to 50-some stars and realized there weren't any levels left that I wanted to play to get the last dozen or so to open the door to the final Bowser level, but I pushed myself through because I felt like I should, given how much I've loved this game. I'm not going to rate it, because I don't feel like it's fair to judge it 25 years later.
  19. I've been playing with God mode on. It gives you 2% damage resistance with each death. I think if it gave you a 1% damage boost also that might have been enough to make me feel the progression.
  20. I think I've given up on Hades. There's just not quite enough progression for me between runs, or the runs take too long given how little progression there is between them, or something about that balance feels off to me. It makes me sad, because I've loved every other Supergiant game, and was really looking forward to this, and I know I can like roguelites because I fucking loved Rogue Legacy.
  21. Even if he caught it Tuesday night at the debate he very well might not test positive yet. And the tests have like a 30% false negative rate anyway.
  22. Yeah, I got the wing cap, and that is just such a joy to fly with that I was thinking "okay, maybe I was too hard on it." But then I just died due to the camera moving while I was walking along a narrow walkway, and unlike modern games your controls don't keep the same orientation when the camera moves (this is one change I do wish they would have made in the remaster). So definitely a huge milestone and an amazing accomplishment, but definitely also an old game that doesn't have the quality of life improvements developed in the meantime.
