  1. I'm not worried that people can find bits of information about me, I'm worried that they won't get enough. Tell the whole story or nothing.

      Post n00ds. K, thx.

  2. I'm mired in grad school homework, so I can't play anymore DS2 this weekend. :'( But I can put on some Netflix streaming while I finish some menial work! I've chosen what I consider to be a fantastic companion piece: 2010: The Year We Make Contact In case you've never seen it (or read it) there's some very creepy Dead Space-esqe moments. I also just realized how fucked up it is that the movie takes place in the future (2010), and it's actually 2011 now. yeesh.
  3. I probably waste about 75% of my printer ink/paper on printouts that don't come out the way they're supposed to.

  4. OMG, it can play MGS4!!!! *watches as MGS4 is outsold 1000:1 by Angry Birds on the iPhone.*
  5. Good God this game is intense. It really shows you how games can surpass movies in terms of edge-of-your-seat action. My friends had to disconnect from my XBL party (I warned them ahead of time.) All they could hear was: *baby crying* *people screaming* "Oh God..." *screeeeeech* "OH GOD!!!!" *plasma cutter blasts* "What the fuck is that?!" *chomping sounds* "GET THE FUCK OFF ME!!!" *more plasma cutter blasts* "DIE MOTHER FUCKER! DIE!!!" *gurgling sound* *silence*

  7. No, and I'm afraid I can't w/o a gaming PC. I've seen it mentioned a couple times on this forum lately, but I just now youtube'd it. Generally, I'm not much of a survival horror fan, but Amnesia sounds pretty good. I really like the idea of no weapons. I'm also a fan of any game that lets you go crazy. Eternal Darkness is one of my favorite games.
  8. The DS2 demo sucked. It was repetive, and it cuts off just before the good part... well, I guess that second thing is to be expected... anyway, just got my copy in the mail via Gamefly and finished the first chapter. I'm loving it. It takes all the good stuff from the first one and improves it without creating any new problems. So far, I've found the criticisms to be unfounded. I've yet to die a "cheap" death, but then again I have only done the first chapter. I also don't find it to be much more difficult, but maybe that's because I'm a veteran of the first game. Every time I enter a new area I quickly observe the basic room layout; noting where there are vents and other possible monster spawn locations. Then I look for potential kinesis projectiles if I need them. When the monsters start popping out, I run to the edge of the room and never fight in the middle. Every corpse I approach I check from a distance to see if it's a possible necromorph and I always reload ahead of time. These game critics who get their asses kicked are just stupid. You see a bunch of spear-thingys lying around and DUH! you probably will need them soon. You enter a big-ass room with high ceilings and gee, you think there might be something big waiting for you? I can understand a noob not getting that, but someone whose played lots of games should recognize the patterns and identify the logic. And I missed the naysayers on Kotaku. Whatever. I don't give a shit about the scariness. Games like this never scare me anyways. At best they startle or creep me out. I like Dead Space for it's setting, atmosphere, and peripheral story elements.
  9. I can only speculate, but I imagine one major reason is that it's the primary contrasting factor between the games. Aside from the graphics and art style, the bulk gameplay hasn't changed much: Overworld > dungeon > new item > boss > repeat.
  10. Only two words are needed to capture the epic awesomeness of Skyrim's theme: viking choir

  11. I imagine the marketing/press people at Bethesda have their reasons. For now I like it. I've been defending GI a lot lately from my friends who for one reason or another are on a crusade against it. Their coverage of Skyrim and TES in general has been phenomenal. And I can't get enough of Todd Howard interviews. He's so down-to-Earth, I love the guy.
  12. Killer Instinct isn't around anymore mostly because it was created by a developer that had bigger and bolder projects to work on (Goldeneye, anyone?). At the time it also was tethered to Nintendo, a company that generally didn't want violent games on its consoles. And given the resurgence of fighting games, Ken Lobb said that he'd like to bring back Killer Instinct. http://www.destructoid.com/x10-killer-instinct-3-is-still-a-possibility-163876.phtml I agree. I know there's a lot of people who disagree, but I always preferred MK as a casual fighter without too many complexities. For me it was never about balance and deep gameplay mechanics, it was about having adolescent fun -- buckets of blood and entertaining fatalities. EDIT: What's up with some of the anti-KI hostility on this board? You guys act like it's Primal Rage.
  13. Not to snuff the debate or anything, but I liked most of those games and mostly because of their variety. I loved Street Fighter II because it arrived first and it's gameplay remained solid and competitive years later. I loved MK for the blood, "realism" and fatalities. And I loved Killer Instinct for it's speed, combos and (in the case of the arcade version,) it's incredible graphics.
  14. It's definitely flawed by today's standards -- repetitive combos, an occasional glitch -- but for it's time it was great. I'm not being sarcastic at all. The action was fast and fluid, and the controls were very responsive. If you wanna add some objectivity to it then we can upload videos of MK I and II along with Street Fighter II to just see how they all add up. (I think that's another topic though.) *sigh* indeed. It was basically KI 2, which I didn't like as much as the first one. Cruisin USA was also butchered when they ported it.
  15. Excuse me? Killer Instinct for the SNES was badass. It wasn't as pretty as the arcade or N64 versions, but the gameplay was superb, the graphics were good (by SNES standards) and for the record, the game had plenty of blood.
  16. Maybe I bought a bad copy of the game. I think I got it used. Or perhaps my PS2 was messed up. When I recently replayed MGS3, it was hiccuping a lot. Again, it was used copy of the game. My copy of HL for PS2 was nearly unplayable. It would freeze up frequently and the load times were in minutes.
  17. I must be the only person who hates those infamous "mom reaction" ads for Dead Space 2. I guess I'm just a wet blanket... or the only person who knows what's best for the gaming industry.

      Showmeyomoves!

That's so... childish. Seriously. Why are they marketing it to kids anyway? Anyone who's older than 18 will probably be past that phase where they think it's cool to do what mom doesn't want them to.

man-children. Let's face it, there are plenty of them in the gaming market. That's why I made this post. I've had three different friends run up to me in glee over this commercial -- 26 year old friends. I'm eager to play DS2, just not for the reasons depicted in that commercial.

  18. Wasn't that a port of the dreamcast version? Also, I don't think the situation's the same with DS2. It's not a new IP this time around. From Wiki: Pretty disappointing considering how bad it was. I usually like Gearbox's work and they're close to where I live.
  19. The original Far Cry was terrible on the console. It was nothing like the PC version. Half Life was also ported to PS2 and it's load times were terrible and it was buggy as shit.
