  1. That's stupid, there's no way it would warrant any sequels or television programs. SWING YOUR ARMS, FROM SIDE TO SIDE RIP Captain Lou :'(
  2. I vaguely remember this one crazy game where you're a lone plumber in a land full of midget goons and anthropomorphic turtles. You eat mushrooms that make you grow tall and pick flowers that make you throw fire. I just can't remember what it was called though.
  3. The opening for the original Mass Effect is my favorite game opening of all time. I often refer to it as the "Top Gun opening." If you're not sure why, see vids: I also think ME's opening is far more cinematic and noob-friendly than ME2's. If you go from the start of ME to the end of the Eden Prime mission, it's like a 80 - 90 minute movie. Super Metroid also is one of my favorite game openings along with Contra III and Mega Man X. I also love the intro to Bioshock. EDIT: FFVIII's intro was great. I used to watch it over and over again!
  4. It's a decent list. I think most gamers agree that the top games of 2010 were RDR, ME2, Halo and Mario Galaxy. To me, it doesn't matter which order you rank those. I don't own a PS3 so I never played Heavy Rain.
  5. actually, that is the main strategy. Get level with Mother Brain and then shoot missiles as many missiles as fast as you can. Even though Link to the Past was my favorite Zelda game, I still remember the moment I encountered Ganon in Ocarina of Time. My favorite part is when he stands up and the lightening illuminates him for a brief moment. When that happened I nearly shit myself. By the way, I'm proud to say I own the version of OoT where Ganon's blood is red! I also liked the fight against Trypticon in War for Cybertron. Skip to 2:15 for the actual fight.
  6. Nope, I had it on PSII. The first vid I found just happened to be the pc version. It's a cheat, so you're able to just use him on the first playthrough. The game had like a ton of skins for the main character, iirc. http://www.cheatcc.com/psx2/psiops.html yup, a metric ton of cheats.. Oh how I miss cheats.. why don't I remember that? Was the xbox version different? Am I suffering brain damage?
  7. I love obscure Mac games! My dad bought a few weird ones. Welcome to the revolution.
  8. How'd you play as Scorpion in Psi Ops? Use a lot pyrokinesis? Glad you asked, might wanna put a pillow under your jaw. .. no really, do it. .. Right, you good? BAM! (skip to 1:35 to see him explode someone's head) So is it a mod for the PC version? I loved Psi Ops on my xbox. I can't stand that it's not backwards compatible with the 360 :'(
  9. How'd you play as Scorpion in Psi Ops? Use a lot pyrokinesis?
  10. Like so many others, I was 4 when I first played it. I might have been five when my bro and I got the NES. I still remember when/where I first saw it. We were at our neighbor's house and all the older kids were playing it and I only got a few seconds with it before it was time to leave. I think that initial tease was one of the things that caused me to love games at such an early age.
  11. Indeed, maybe it's not for you. It's the wild west, there's not going to be much beyond large fields of dust and cacti. I'll admit that Marston's claim to benevolence does get a little thick at times, but he's a good guy being forced to do bad things. If I were in his boots, I'd be defending my integrity too. And what you described is the basic formula of the game. Not just RDR, but most sandbox games. You either enjoy it or you don't. It didn't bother me very much. BTW, I'd love to see this horselady video. *goes to youtube*
  12. OMG I couldn't disagree more. I too, enjoyed the ranching missions, but for the same reason that I liked the absence of the cliche town shootout: it was different and original. But I really disagree about the dialogue and the missions. The dialogue was great. For the most part it was grounded in the setting, and the accents and mannerisms were spot-on. Most of the missions were perfect. They were as interesting as they could be given the circumstances. The only way they could have been more unique is if they became weird and unrealistic, and some of them were and those were my least favorite missions.
  13. Are you kidding? I was prepared for that. Although most people on this board are fans of Mass Effect and TES: Oblivion, I've been repeatedly surprised by the amount of criticism they get from those same people. I don't think either game is perfect either, but some of you guys have posted massive lists of things you felt were major flaws. I don't know if I think ME2 is overrated, but I do think that it's experiencing that phenomenon whereby people don't play the first game in a series, come in on the second or third installment, and then rave about the game while oblivious to the merits of their predecessors. For example, ME2 definitely has better framerate, and better combat. But almost everyone I know who's finished ME 1 and 2 feels like the story of ME1 was better. You can always tell when someone didn't finish ME1 because they'll gush on ME2's story without mentioning the first game.
  14. I honestly can't vote... I've come to dislike pretty much all the Final Fantasy games. Screw it, I'm just going to go with the one that I've played and enjoyed the most: FF IV
  15. With all due respect, I found the differences as notable as night and day. Allow me to enlighten: GTA III - placed franchise in 3D world, core gameplay remains unchanged from the original top-down GTA - added real world music to radio stations - a more flushed out story compared to previous two games GTA Vice City - slightly revamped combat system - smarter and more aggressive (dare I say too aggressive) police AI - addition of helicopters - addition of a vocal protagonist - addition of purchasable/unlockable clothing - addition of various weapons/tools - tweaked physics that failed miserably; resulted in goofy animations and the ability to die if you "fell" off a 3-foot patio - added the ability to shoot out tires GTA San Andreas - largest vehicle selection of every GTA game before and since, including helicopters, planes, boats, bicycles, lawn mowers and jetpacks - added the ability to paint, customize and enhance cars - more mission variety, including things like flying remote-control vehicles and even participating in a triatholon across the map - largest GTA map to date, including three distinct (and large) cities, and countryside/desert between them. - added the ability to recruit gang members to aid in missions (a flawed mechanic that I think Volition refined well in Saints Row) - longest and most robust story of all GTA games to-date - added the ability to change the protagonist's body by working out or pigging out - drastically refined combat/aiming system - refined the flawed physics of Vice City - balanced the enemy AI - introduced specific hit areas on vehicles; tires can be shot out, gas tank can be targeted for one-hit-explosion - included a camera for taking/saving photos. You can also hand the camera to a friendly NPC and have him photograph you I could go on and on, but to summarize -- San Andreas was a significant improvement to what was already a great game, and it pushed the Playstation 2 hardware to it's limits.
  16. So then what ForgetfulBrain posted is now the full list?
  17. I guess I just pity anyone who games online with a system that doesn't allow them to block or mute other players. I never deal with childish comments anymore. I just flipped a switch on my privacy settings.
  18. I don't think we can edit initial posts right now/yet after the 20 minute edit limit. 10. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 9. Halo 3 8. Super Mario Galaxy 7. Gears of War 6. Street Fighter 4 5. StarCraft II 4. Uncharted 2 3. Red Dead Redemption 2. God of War 1. COD: Black Ops Someone let me know if I'm doing this wrong. I think you just proposed two changes. The original list didn't have CoD: Black Ops at number one -- that was my vote. You've got Call of Duty at number one and you added God of War to number 2. BTW, I agree with the GoW nomination. I'd add it too, but I was compelled to get GTA: San Andreas off that list. When did you guys make this list originally? I assume it happened on the old board.
  19. oh sorry. Here you go: 10. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 9. Halo 3 8. Super Mario Galaxy 7. Gears of War 6. Street Fighter 4 5. StarCraft II 4. Uncharted 2 3. Red Dead Redemption 2. GoldenEye (N64) 1. COD: Black Ops you might want to add a note about the list to your first post.
  20. W...T...F...!? You guys put San Andreas at #1? Hell, you put it on a list of overrated games to begin with!!!!? San Andreas is not a rehash of a rehash. It's a major refinement of the Playstation-era GTA series that is a brilliant combination of the best things from GTAIII and Vice City. To many -- myself included -- it surpasses GTA IV in gameplay and scope. Sure, the game isn't perfect. CJ is a lame character and the pop-in graphics are terribly annoying at times, but the game is not overrated! If you're going to put a GTA game on that list, you should put Vice City on there. Now that was an overrated GTA game. I can't tell you how many times I've heard some dinglefart rave about how great Vice City is -- only to add that they never played GTA III. I vote to swap GTA: San Andreas with Call of Duty: Black Ops. Honorable mention goes to every Madden NFL game of the last six years.
  21. I don't drink alcohol or smoke cigarettes. I do have a strong penchant for caffeine and cannabis -- though not at the same time. I'm not addicted to either, I just really like both. Oddly enough, the worst habit in my life is probably video games. I'm not addicted, but I've fallen into a lifestyle where I'd just much rather stay at home and play games than go out and socialize, which has left me quite lonely.
  22. well, to be technical there's a significant difference between a fear and a phobia -- the latter often being completely irrational. I actually have one particularly severe phobia, but it's something that I don't share with others. I have a fear of dying in a commercial plane crash. I'm not afraid of flying, nor am I afraid of being blown out of the sky in a jet fighter, but I'm specifically afraid of being in a commercial jet accident of some kind. hmmm, that's pretty much it. Nothing besides that.
  23. Pretty much every weapon from the original Turok: The Dinosaur Hunter. The poison hidden blade from Assassin's Creed II and Brotherhood. The from A Link to the Past... *sigh* and OoT I guess. The in Just Cause 2. It's DLC, but it only costs a couple bucks.
  24. Sounds like someone's a retro-gaming purist.
  25. I hate to burst your bubble, but I don't think this forum is representative of the gaming public at large. This board appears to lean toward single player games, in particular Mass Effect and The Elder Scrolls (that's why I like it here! ) All of my friends are predominately multiplayer gamers. That would be okay if it weren't that they just don't understand that I'm a single-player gamer. They only play games like Mass Effect or TES if there's no one online to play with. So say I'm playing ME and no one else is online, and then my friend comes online, he immediately starts spamming me with game invites. I'll tell him that I'm playing ME and his reaction is always a mix of confusion and shock. He'll say: ".... but... but I'm online now... you don't have to play ME anymore." Something similar happened when I got AC: Brotherhood. My best friend got it and started sending me multiplayer invites. I told him I had absolutely no interest in the multiplayer and he got really upset: "Dude!? I bought this so we could play it together!" As if it's my fault that in five years of knowing each other he still hasn't figured out that I'm primarily a single player gamer!
