  1. Swindled again! Oh no! must contain rage! I was trolled as a baby. It was terrible.
  2. Someone on Kotaku's speakup was bitching about online game communities being less tolerant of griefing and trolling and I wanted to punch him through his computer screen. I can't stand griefing or trolling. It completely ruins games for me. It's one thing when it's among friends and it doesn't sabotage the team's chances at winning, but otherwise it just makes me
  3. Don't you hate it when you have a technical problem and the support person automatically assumes you're an idiot?

i did tech support for a website, and in said support person's defense 9.5 out of 10 people that call in for assistance are complete morons.

Then again, if you knew how to fix it yourself, you probably wouldn't need to call tech support.

In this particular case, I actually didn't call any support. I e-mailed the professor of my online class to ask what the textbook would be for the semester. He replied in a snarky way that I should go to the class website and read the syllabus -- except the class doesn't show up until next week. The professor is Indian, so that does make this like a support call.

  4. Is anyone else's Netflix Instant glitching on them? My instant queue is completely mixed up

Other than the fact that they are usually stereotyped with the sunglasses bald man with bulging muscles? Not really.

Mostly, from what I know, HR deals with internal affairs of a company regarding personnel.

Isn't there a cheat in Red Alert for human resources?

I've hired like 6 people and fired 1, so kind of? But not really. Interviewing people sucks almost as much as firing people imo. Can't stand it.

Yeah I'm bummed it ain't gone the ad route on Android. So Angry Brids get's my love.

  7. I'm glad to hear that the world will have varied environments, despite being generally high-altitude and rugged. One cool detail I read was the small activities like cooking, metal working and farming. This will really give me a chance to live in the world. I wouldn't mind knowing more about the NPC animations and dialogue. In GI they just briefly mention that NPCs will move around during dialogue. I'm surprised that GI didn't mention horse riding. With horses becoming more popular and better utilized, I figured they might revamp that. There's lots of good stuff on GI's site, particularly the behind the scenes video with Todd Howard: www.gameinformer.com/skyrim
  8. I got the TESV: Skyrim issue of Game Informer today! I'll post once I've read it.

  9. lol, my scanner's from the mid 90s. I'm amazed it still works. I didn't think the GI issue was out. I don't have it yet, but then I swear that mine is always late by a week or more.
  10. bored and slightly irritated. Such boredom calls for wild creativity. I'm think whippits and a couch fort.

Ah, whippets. Reminds me of being 15 years old and/or being very, very punk rock.

when my brother was in high school, he and his friends went to the grocery store in the middle of the night to get some whipped cream. One of the night stockers saw them loading up and from across the store yelled in a high pitched voice, "WHIIIIIIPPPPETTTTSSSSSSSS!!!!"

  11. my screen name is also my gaming name. "Chops" in this case means sideburns. I have very wild, Wolverine-esqe sideburns. To be honest, I immediately regretted the name once I started using it. I thought it sounded really gay; not just lame, but actually gay. But to my surprise, most people like it. Apparently it rolls off the tongue well.
  12. I'm starting to think I have anger issues, but not in the traditional sense. I just have fits of verbal rage from time to time.

yes, but I don't have that. It's just come to my attention recently that I get a little intense about things that most people just shrug off.

  13. I liked the game, but honestly it's just AC 2.5 and if I wasn't such an impatient freak, I could've bought it for a lot cheaper. Instead I paid full price.
  14. I am Bad Company! is one of the biggest examples of 'no way you can get it legit'. One of the 120 (!) awards you need is to get 50 boat 'road' kills (which usually means running someone over who's swimming). Those NEVER EVER EVER happen except for the rarest of circumstances. It should've been 1 kill if anything, definitely not 50 ... And that's exactly why I don't really give a shit about achievements.
  15. Two things. First, you can knife the same friends 5 times and get the achievement. You can't do it in a private match (I don't believe you can do any of the BC2 achievements, and most online achievements, that way). And second, you need to be on opposite teams. BUT, if you join a friend's game and get put on their side, there's a trick you can do to switch sides. Make sure the other team has empty slots, then remember one of the gamertags on that team. Go to the Guide > Friends > Recent Players, find that person, and choose 'Join Session in Progress' from their profile, Voila, you're on the other team. Very helpful, thank you!
  16. Imageshack is your friend. Ooooh, that is nice. I didn't like the game much, but I like that.
  17. What I'm trying to say is that it is all an act. With "reality shows" you never know how much is real or bullshit, but I can tell you from firsthand experience that some phobias will send a person running -- even if it's a kitten phobia. That's why I was trying to point out the difference between fears and phobias earlier. In regards to my own phobia, I know that it's irrational. There's nothing to be afraid of logically, but when I get into the situation in question it instantly triggers a fight-or-flight response in my lower brain. And it's basically ruined my life. I deal with it every day and it gets worse with age. That's why I don't tell people what it is, because most people just laugh. They don't get how bad it is. Imagine how hard your life would be if your sympathetic nervous system went on high alert every time you saw a cat, pickle, mailbox, or some other common, everyday item or phenomenon. Now imagine that only one in thirty doctors know of the phobia's existence. Imagine being unable to get ADA accommodation. Imagine dropping out of school and not being able to tell people why. Yeah. Phobias can really suck ass.
  18. As far as I can tell, it's the same as the American version.
  19. I think Link to the Past is the best. Originally, and arguably at its best, Zelda is a top-down action/adventure game. A Link to the Past is the best presentation of that kind of gameplay; much as Super Metroid is the best true Metroid title. I think Link to the Past has the best opening -- the music, the stormy night, the telepathic call for help -- it's very dramatic compared to say.... crawling around for rupees like you do in the beginning of OoT. I think Link to the Past set the standards and the formula for later Zelda games. The Master Sword, the collection of Triforce maidens, the Light/Dark world motif -- it all started with LttP. I also feel like Link to the Past was one of the last really epic Zelda games. At the time it was the pinnacle of console graphics. It remains on of the largest, most beautiful and details 16-bit games today. Future Zelda games would be handicapped by Nintendo's weaker hardware. It's one of the reasons I love Oblivion, it's what Hyrule should look like with real next-gen hardware. I also think LttP has great length and great dungeons. It'll always be my fav Zelda game and one of my fav games in general. Oh, and I love the ending credits too!
  20. So all this box art talk had me wondering if there was any substantial changes made when an American-made game was released in Japan. Most of what I checked was unchanged (for example: Fallout 3 and Batman: Arkham Asylum.) But when I typed in Mass Effect Japanese box art, I got this: which is fucking awesome imo. I've never seen this image before today and it's now my fav Mass Effect cover ever.
  21. I like the American Phantom Hourglass art better. In part it's the symmetry, but more because the other one is just meh.
  22. I don't know, that might work too. I think I'll just stay the hell away from this one. I've established an outspoken reputation against achievement hounding, even though I clearly said that I go after some achievements. But this would lead to nothing but trouble. Once I started stabbing one of my friends, they'd demand to know why. I either inform them of the achievement and they all go for it too, thus dooming our clan to backstabbery.... or I just laugh and they all assume I'm a douche. edit: maybe I could host a private match for just us, and we could have one big knife fight until we all had it.... but that violates the whole spirit of the achievement imo.
  23. ROFL. oh yeah, I forgot about angry Kirby. But you could argue that the American version conveys Kirby's attitude better than the Japanese one. I've always seen Kirby as a violent, malevolent, world-destroyer.
  24. I want to get the Et Tu, Brute? achievement in Bad Company 2. I think you get it for knifing 5 of your online friends (as opposed to just knifing five teammates in hardcore mode.) I figure the best way for me to get them is to switch my status to "offline," then sneak into one of my friend's matches and hope to get on the other team. Then wait for them in a particular spot and stab 'em! But to manage that five times against five of my friends? I don't know if I'll ever pull that off.
  25. Because America is anti-intellectual. Because if a game tries to openly be artistic and clever, the general public thinks that it's being superior and aloof, and refuse to have anything to do with it. Because, sadly, our country kinda sucks, Yan. I don't think that's completely accurate, but I'm struggling to find hard evidence one way or the other. If you examine the change between Mass Effect 1 and Mass Effect 2's multiple box covers, you could say that Americans do prefer macho-ism and firearms. As for MGS, I'm not even sure what it's Japanese box art was. Between that and Subsistence, I'm finding five different boxarts online. Is this the Japanese cover? If so, then how do you explain the popularity of the American versions of MGS2 and MGS2 Substance? I don't think it's purely an American thing. I think Europe is similar. I've spent the last 15 mins examining my game collection going back to 1980 and the vast majority of them (Japanese or otherwise) have an armed protagonist on the front. If people are turned off by artistic and aloof covers, maybe it's for other reasons. Perhaps when it comes to paying $60 or more for a game they want an image that's a little bit more concrete. I can't really speak for myself personally. I've never purchased a game based on its cover. I've always known what the game is like beforehand.
