I went browsing in the workshop earlier and thought I might link the more interesting ones I found. Do note that I've not tried any of these myself yet. Midas Magic - More spells Open Cities Skyrim - Open Cities... for skyrim Mark and Recall - Mark and Recall as they existed in the older games. Particularly useful for people (like me) who play without fast travel. Faster Vanilla Horses - Makes horses useful Shadow Striping Fix - Fixes the awful shadow glitch that appears everywhere. Of course, these all pale in comparison to the best mod for Skyrim: Posh Mudcrabs.

To be honest I'm amazed that Need for Speed: The QTE didn't do worse than it did. Not even my friends who have bought every Need For Speed game since the ps2 had any interest in it.

How about we let both gay people and straight people choose whether they want to marry and enter a civil union? I bet there's people on all sides of the fence wishing they had access to the other option. That's an overly assumptive generalization. While it is possible that this is true in some cases, I've also read about people who have been in such relationships with their siblings while living in what you'd consider a normal household. I do not presume to know the various reasons one may get into a relationship with their sibling, and I think it's bad form to pretend you do.

Shit, Yant, I'm not even gay and I've had people get hateful with religious reasoning against me simply because some people thought I might be gay. Many times.

Though pedophilia has an actual tangible reason why it's illegal - it causes direct, often grave, psychological harm to the child being taken advantage of. I think, just becuase you're personally unnerved by the concept, that doesn't mean it's wrong. Hell, up until a few years ago, being around gay people was still heavily uncomfortable to me, but I always viewed that as my own failing and not a reason to deem homosexuality as wrong.
-
@Six: I used to feel the same, until I realized that I had no reasoning to back that opinion up. Then I changed my mind about it. @FDS: I've heard that said a lot, though never by people I'd trust in such matters. I've also had people quote research at me saying that the chances of incest pregnancies actually creating retarded children being negligibly low. I honestly can't say I know either way what is true about that one. If anyone knows better, though, feel free to educate. Though as Six points out, risk of genetic defects isn't enough to make marriage illegal in other cases. I don't think why there should be a difference. Edit @Six: That seems honestly worryingly close to the reasoning people give for why gays shouldn't be in a relationship. I personally find the idea of incest to be gross, just like I find the idea of gay sex gross, but I still think that two people should be able to be together if they want to, unless you can give a very good reason for why it's harmful to the rest of society in a way that outweighs their freedoms.

I don't think it's anyone's place to say that any two willing and consenting adults can't get married under any circumstances. That should be decided by them, not by anyone else.

DRM, Online Pass, Project Ten Dollar and the like
Johnny replied to Yantelope's topic in General Gaming Chat
I actually really liked just walking and jumping around in those sections where it was calm, plus the time trial mode. Mirror's Edge really ought to have been a free-roaming game. Parkour GTA anyone? -

Oh don't get me wrong, I loved Mirror's Edge. It was far from perfect, but it did really cool things. The game is much better if your approach to combat is "run" as opposed to "shoot everything." -

It'd possibly have helped if Mirror's Edge didn't force itself to include abysmal (but luckily entirely skippable) shooting every five minutes as well. -
Oh come off it, Battra. Your continual labeling of others as bigots is ridiculous in light of the (entirely unprovoked, I might add) comments you've made in the past about atheism.

It's amazing his Jim Sterling manages to sound like an extremist no matter which side of the fence he's on. That takes some special talent.

Ok, back at my desktop, taking a proper look at this now. Taking a look at Yantelope's link, it seems to be just an invented hypothetical example and not anything that actually happened. Doing some digging, I could find no example of a priest risking jail because of anything said about homosexuality and the bible. My google-fu is weak. Åke Green was to serve a month in jail but was eventually acquited. A far cry from the claimed four years in the National Review's article. That said, as far as my understanding* of Swedish law goes, the example given would probably be illegal. I above called it hate speech, and I am reasonably certain that is the closest english term for it. In Sweden we call it "hets mot folkgrupp", and would be directly translated to "inciting against group of people." Basically, it's illegal to- Basically, what Six said. *I'm not an expert. I honestly play closer attention to international events than local ones, and the particulars of Swedish law do at times escape me.
-
You can't seriously be implying that you think hate speech should be protected by religion, Yante. I really hope that's not what you're doing.
-
As far as I know, so-called moral objections to homosexuality would under Swedish laws be hate speech and is not protected by religious motivations.

Fine then, it's not your data but rather the data you're presenting as evidence of your claim. I looked at the data you initially put forward and came to the same conclusion as Six did, hence my upvoting of his post. I can not speak for Six, but in my case I did not do so in an effort to be argumentative, but rather it genuinely looked like you were presenting one set of data and drawing a conclusion counter to what the data said. Regarding the link you have since submitted, I can not comment on it because it is admittedly beyond my full comprehension. Additionally, I am not sure how the data provided shows that Mr. GOH's statement is erroneous, even if it shows, as you are claiming, that "PP is actually worse then Komen when it comes to administration fees."
-
It's a discussion forum. Accusing people of being argumentative in response to them pointing out seeming flaws in your data just seems overly defensive and silly. Maybe if you'd have pointed the methodology out beforehand, people would have read it before responding.

Useful/interesting list! Though I'd wish he had listed sources. A lot of these seems to be studios that have closed. On the one hand, I think the assumption that the former employees no longer get any money out of that is a pretty reasonable one, but on the other hand I don't really know that much about the kind of legal stuff going on within studios.

I'm not sure how an article calling people fools can ever be anything but an attack piece.

To drag up something a few pages back that I didn't have the time/energy to respond to at the time. Sorry I tell you what, that's a whole 'nother ball of wax. It's a two front thing for me personally. I mean ideally and religiously I believe that it's best for kids to be in a family with a mother and a father. Pragmatically it might be better for a kid to be in a gay household than in an orphanage. It's arguing ideals vs pragmatism. Ideally I wish every child could have a loving father and mother. I believe the genders of the parents to be one of the least crucial factors possible when considering how good a parent someone would be. My parents are straight, but I didn't exactly grow up in a wonder home. I'm not saying it was terrible, but I'm saying it's a roll of the die either way and the gender and sexuality isn't too likely to be an important factor. I'm sure everyone has seen this video before, but I feel it still holds the power it did when I first watched it:
-
Oh definitely, Ethan, contraceptives should be the first line of defense against unwanted pregnancies. Ideally, we would not need to abort a single feature. Unfortunately, shit happens.
-
It went mostly ignored last time, but I still think it's a valid point so I'll say it again: In a world where we are already looking on a humanity where there are just too many of us, where starvation and lack of space are real issues, is it not more humane to let people who don't want children abort, than to force even more of us onto this small planet? Overpopulation is a real issue. EDIT This is kind of related to what yant and dean is discussing above. No, abortion would not singlehandedly solve the starvation problems, but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't hurt.
