  1. I am not read up on iTunes recently, but I think the common complaint is that next to no money from that goes to the musicians themselves in most cases. Some people would argue that it's effectively just as bad as pirating it. What I tend to do is, I primarily prefer to go to concerts as my way of supporting artists, secondarily buy albums from them. (I'd rather buy the physical disc so I don't have to worry about DRM and other such utter nonsense, and can rip it to any format I want) I wish more artists would tour up here. Only group I liked in recent memory up here was Machinae Supremacy, and they only tour here because this is where they live.
  2. In seriousness, I would label both piracy and your lying to the boss example as morally grey. They aren't exactly right, but I can't really judge anyone for it either. Unless, of course, you're pirating just to be a dick. Then you're just being a dick.
  3. Uhm... Yeah. It's called Piracy. Alternatively, "copyright infringement" if you're feeling lawyerish today.
  4. "Justifying the fact that [false claim]" Doesn't get less stupid the more you say it.
  5. Warning: Portal 1 and 2 spoilers ahead.
  6. Aaaand we have a release date. May 15th. Digital pre-purchase via battle.net is also available.
  7. The combat was certainly improved, but the writing and plot felt to me really dumb Aside from that, as you said there was way too little character interaction. The character writing and interaction was what kept me playing ME2. It's what made me finish Dragon Age 2. That's it, actually. I like Dragon Age 2 more than I like Mass Effect 3. It's not a better-crafted game, but at least it did SOME neat things. ME3 just feels like a regurgitation of the exact same formula once more.
  8. You could play Borderlands online by connecting directly to a server hosted by another player, yes. It's sort of the same thing as if you were playing with Hamachi, only it really didn't need Hamachi
  9. I'm done. By that I don't mean I completed the game. I didn't. I'm at the last stretch. But I just stopped caring. The game feels like More Tedious Mass Effect 2, and the writing doesn't hold up as well imho. Just feels like no significant improvements were made and I can't bring myself to care anymore. Probably won't finish the game.

    Learning Coding

For the love of god stay away from Java unless you're learning it because you're planning to use it to make money or get a job. It's horrible and tedious and has so many exceptions and just doesn't make basic logical sense. Start with C++ or Python, imho.
  11. An MMO without the MMO part. :-)
  12. Oooh! The QCK is a pretty good line. What version is it?

    Sim City V

So the reason EA DLC is shitty on value is that they can get away with it and people will still buy it. We already know this; I don't think anyone on this forum is under any illusions that EA is doing it solely to be dicks. However, the reason really doesn't make much of a difference to me. If it's shitty value, I won't buy it no matter how much the developer tries to justify it. That goes for indies as well. When indie developers release shitty value DLC (most of the packs on offer for Magicka, for example), I won't buy those either. As for Sims expansion packs: I'm a big fan of The Sims, but the pets expansion adds content I could possibly see myself paying 5 euros for at the absolute highest. It's not a significant game-changer to me, but rather just fluff content. To again compare to Sins of a Solar Empire, those expansions (while costing next to nothing) significantly improves the core gameplay of the title while simultaneously adding in new stuff.

    Sim City V

Thursday: The problem is that it is (at least from where I'm looking) bad value for money. Most of the Sims 3 packs do not alter the game in a way that is meaningful to the point of charging that much for it. That you have to compare it to Call of Duty of all things in order for The Sims 3 to come up on top, does in itself show just how hard EA/Maxis are milking it for cash. By comparison, Sins of a Solar Empire is four years old and the complete pack for that game is at 15 euros on steam. It's coming out with another expansion, but this time a standalone to make sure people won't have to buy the previous three parts. That is good value for money. Sims 3 isn't. I do not mind the idea of expansion packs for a Sim City game. In fact, I think it is a good idea. But judging by EA's recent track record I can't help but be skeptical as to if I will find it worth a purchase in the end.
  15. I think the point Notch and others like him is trying to make is that if your game sells 2000 copies and 3000 people pirate the game, you haven't lost money compared to the guy who sells 2000 copies and has nobody pirate his game.

I usually solved the water shortage without much trouble. Only problem is that my solution to the water shortage tended to create a money shortage.
  17. In my experience, the amount of (hostile) sexist comments increases with the general hostility of the community. Fighting games has a pretty hostile community, but is by far not the most hostile one in gaming today; same goes for the ratio of sexism. Still haven't seen anything as bad as the dota/hon/lol community, on any front. World of Warcraft comes close though
  18. I can't be arsed to remember who the current king in my own country is; why you'd expect anyone to remember "the one that pooped purple" is beyond me.
  19. They may be ending the current story arc this year, but I really doubt that will be the last we see of Assassin's Creed. It's Ubisoft's biggest franchise, of course there'll be more of it.
  20. @MDex: I really didn't like the new FMA-B movie. The plot was recycled from various story arcs from the original anime, and all the new characters felt boring.
  21. If you didn't get SSX for ps3 you're a boring person. :)

  23. So did anyone else here end up getting this? I'm loving it, but having only one rival for the explore mode isn't exactly ideal.

Watching Yogcast is painful. Fun guys, but I've rarely seen anyone with less ability to intuitively understand game mechanics
