  1. Can't say there's anything that hasn't let me down by now.
  2. As mentioned in my other post I really don't think stopping piracy is the only, or maybe even the main reason for the always online DRM. It's almost definitely part of it, but you're oversimplifying. Their reasons make sense from their perspective and is entirely in character with what they have been doing and how their attitudes (which individual developers display pretty publically on their forums) have been developing. Well, no. A lot of people have highly unstable connections, enough so that they don't want to pay for a title that doesn't let them play while offline. As said in an earlier post this doesn't effect me much because I was going to play it exclusively online in any case, but it will effect a lot of people. I know of at least one member of this forum that currently can't get a home connection for various reasons. There are like two open wi-fi hotspots in my city that I know of. It's not literally everywhere, that depends a lot on where you live. True. Also, before anyone brings it up, simply separating the online and offline modes aren't enough (or rather, as effective); the more of the game is actually on the client, the easier it will be for hackers to figure out how to get around Blizzard's security. See Diablo 2's closed Battle.Net. It's not been as free of hacks as one may think. Sure, a lot of people probably will, but generalizing everyone who say they aren't gonna buy it is silly, quite offensive and dumb. People will decide to not buy for their own reasons, and while for some people those reasons end up not being enough to keep them convinced to stay away, for other people it is. I still haven't purchased MW2 or BLOPS because I think the direction that franchise is going towards is horrible, for instance.

    Mice

The future of PC mice is glowing shit with functions I don't use for two to three times what I'd normally pay? I'll be over here stocking up on Intellimouse Explorer 3.0's before it's too late. >_>

I'm sure by "wash hands" they mean "piss on hands."

  4. So I completed the game:
  5. I'd like to reply with a question of my own: If going to these lengths to "prevent" piracy was necessary, then why do you not see every other publisher doing the same thing?
  6. I don't understand why Ubisoft insists on making the pirated version a superior product. You're supposed to make the legitimate user get extra stuff, not put limitations on what he can do with the product!
  7. Nah, all my friends who go to university in sweden are loaded with textbooks.
  8. Blizzard aren't that good at keeping secrets. We knew almost everything about the Cataclysm expansion over a month beforehand. =P
  9. Popular games sell more systems than great games.
  10. It wasn't so much over the article from my understanding as it was from Joel's shit in the comment section.
  11. Can someone explain the phenomena of pre-ordering games you don't know much about? I honestly don't understand it.

I'd guess they like/trust the dev enough. Also the franchise too. If however it was say Borderlands or Bulletstorm then yeah that'd be weirder.

      P4: Gritty Reboot

I have pre-ordered precisely 3 games in my life: Portal 2, Half-Life 2, and Super Smash Bros. Brawl. All 3 were worth it.

I only make a gamble pre-order if I have a very good feeling about the game.

Last time was the original Dead Space. As you can see, I have great intuition.

  12. Tachikomas > Fuchikomas. ^.^
  13. I did not think about the Atronach builds. On the other hand, that's the only case where I think you have a valid point. The (out of combat) health regeneration mechanics in Oblivion were really just a waste of time. If you went back to the earlier games it was a bit more complicated, but still not that much.

I read that in the superfriends announcer voice. and it felt GOOOOD

  14. I agree about the blood-splashed screen shit. But let's not jump to conclusions. To add to my previous post, when I have fast-travel enabled I miss so much cool stuff because I keep just jumping between locations. Not using/Disabling fast travel, I encounter much more stuff worth exploring.
  15. Sooooo... you're against systems that waste your time with no challenge, but you use mods to force yourself to take long, empty walks through unpopulated countrysides. Okay. What? There's a few things I'd like to point out. Free fast travel from any outdoor location completely breaks immersion for me. The world starts feeling EXTREMELY small. So it's not a waste of my time. It forces me to think more about where I'm going. I know some people will say the same about regenerative health, but I already feel the magicka system in oblivion is boring and unimmersive. It's a practically unlimited resource if you just wait a bit. I also tend to add in alternative fast travel systems like morrowind-style "taxi" mods, making travel from city to city less of a pain. For some reason they don't break immersion for me in the same way. Yes, taking out fast travel is a time investment, but it actually adds something I like to the game. Having to spam "cast spell" between battles does not.
  16. Assuming of course that it regens way too slowly.
  17. I tend to use mods to disable limit fast travel in these games, or I will overuse them.
  18. And was a boring waste of my time. If getting my health up between combat is not actually gonna be a challenge, or require me to do any interesting choices, I'd rather not have to do some repetitious "press C 10 times to heal up" exercise. To clarify, I'd rather they take a few notes from roguelikes and actually make combat a challenge in regards to using my resources well. But that's not likely to happen, and I'd rather have regenerative health than "Restore Wounds X10"
  19. Because having your health regenerate is so much worse than the oblivion style of "okay, you're out of combat, spam your heal spell until you're full on health again."
  20. It's pretty fast, I guess.
