  1. I tend to lag behind by a few months, a year or two on games so, no lost on my part. Besides, I tend to replay games. Same would apply for all content really. Well, maybe not for TWOW since GRRM need to get the books out before he can no longer say "Not today!". For any market, the producers need the consumers and vice versa but I feel the producers rely more on the consumers. I can say "Fuck you" to the producers by pirating, buying used or not buying the product. The producers can proceed to setup this DRM or that DRM, raise prices or any other form of pissing off consumers. For me personally, I would stop dealing with those type of producers. Other folks may pirate more. Who the hell knows... Sadly for the producers, they don't make money (food) out of thin air (Not literally) like nature's producers: plants. If the producers die out, we the consumers are screwed as well. We need each other. So lets stop trying to choke each other. <3
  2. Wikipedia is actually pretty fine starting point for any high school to early college research paper or for a refresher. Just don't link it directly and make sure the sources are good. Also don't forget the usual means of researching a topic. And fuck YOLO. Hell, what the fuck is it and where did it come from?
  3. Oh teens who think they knows exactly what they wants and know everything there is there to know. How cute.
  4. I'm looking at old sites I used to go to back in 2004-2008 (8!!!!-4 years ago)... I may be looking through nostalgia goggles but holy hell, where is the layout standard that was in existence back then?

  5. Years ago, I discovered Sound Horizon and I introduced it to my then SO. It went through her group of friends like wildfire. Listening to it now... it still sounds great but man, its pretty over the top!
  6. A regular compost bin does not equal to a worm bin. Compost is well, compost but with a worm bin you get worm castings which is superb stuff. I am not aware of any programs that subsidize worm bins or compost bins in my area. What we have here are compostable trash bins for the trash folks to pick up. If there was one, I would of heard of one since I know folks who does stuff related to them. Hell, some are trying to get a commercial process going on campus with compost and worms. And yeah. I may take a quick lighter to melt it to smooth it out for the worm holes. Main reason I'm doing it this way is that for the size of the system, it is larger than what I can buy. I can also modify, repair or change stuff on the fly. Lastly, because I can. Think building a computer oppose to buying one or a console. Also, thanks.
  7. I didn't buy it like this but... Hacked bin with two unmodified bins on standby. I need to think of how can I adapt the design to be stacking and easy to use. I currently letting the bedding get happy in the completed bin and I'm in the process of getting worms from campus, for free. Instead of doing $40/lbs for the worms. My current game plan is to have three levels of bins. The one I've completed will be the lowest level. It'll contain a netting of some sort so any excess liquid can drain to the bottom without any worms or too much castings drowning. If it gets really excessive, the leachate will drain out of the air vents. The netting got to be strong or held up by something strong since it might hold up the remaining two bins and whatever else it got inside. The last two bins will also have four air vents and ~10-20 holes on the bottom for leachate and for worms to travel between the bins. I might add a fourth bin so I can have three bins for active composting. One will be starting, another getting there and one pretty much done. Lets see, if I didn had to get tools and if I had the time to wait for stuff online... this cost about $50 on what I am proposing. Also side note, regarding tools... don't get cheap box cutters. I snapped mines. At least I still got the hammers and shit. So yeah, WOOOOOOOOOOOOOO.
  8. Its nice seeing SSDs going for abotu $1/GB. In a year's time, perhaps we can see $0.50/GB. Two years from now, geez, we could be running a massive Steam library off one.

A while ago I saw hybrid SSDs, but haven't really seen any in the last year... failed concept? I figured it made a lot of sense to store on platters and intelligently cache to flash...

  9. First off, since I'm that guy: Minecraft - You build, your survive, and build some more. Now for others off the top of my head: Mount and Blade: Warband - Play as a lowly sellsword that eventually works his way up to lordship and perhaps kingship (I never got that far.) That or get crotch shot by a cannon ball in the expansion Napoleonic Wars. Glob, people hate fifers. ARMA II - A military sim/shooter that will make you cry with joy and anguish on the complexity of it all. Grab Combined Operations. Just Cause 2 - More tomfoolery than before.
  10. I wish my roommates will deposit the checks I gave them. One has my rent, since he's the landlord son. The other has the internet/cable stuff. I hate when people hold onto checks. It can really screw with accounting and it be damn odd to ask them to take my money so here I am...
  11. So yeah... I might be doing it. I have a feeling the server I setup and let my brother look after might get swarmed by his peeps. Hell, just now I looked and found TEN more people on the player list. That is no place for us. My brother can have that server setup. He just have to be careful on now frying it and have malicious people get into our network too hard. It should be possible to have two of these towers work together, right? If it can I might as well try. At worst right now, it'll be a $25 investment if I get two.
  12. I guess this place is a good place to ask. I just found out that my university has a surplus auction site and they have a bunch of old Dells for $5-10. They are tested to be in working condition so there is that part. Chances are it will not have an OS so I could just try out Linux... my main purpose for one of these computer would be running the Minecraft server. I'm just not sure how well these guys will run one. At best, I would think they will run about the same as my current setup. Any ideas? http://www.publicsurplus.com/sms/calpoly,ca/auction/view?auc=742194
  13. http://www.wired.com/gamelife/2012/06/japan-download-copyright-law/ Watch, the crazy and amazing Japanese are going to make a super proxy somehow. Seriously though... jail time? At least we over here in the States and elsewhere can pretty much ignore whatever threatening letters we get from this law firm or company unless it got a judge signature on it. Imagine the US implementing a system like this.
  14. I should wipe out my Steam list...
  15. Oh boy. I think this time he'll nuke a city to get his wife back. Edit: Okay... the media bracket got to take more versions of Youtube links than it does now. I am not going to hunt down the proper one... Stupid s in http...
  16. Updated the Minecraft server to 12w25a. If you play around with redstone, you'll have some new ways to play around with them. Also time to release your trade prisoners.

Is there a @minecraftsnapshots twitter or something I can follow to keep up on the releases?

I'm not sure if there is a twitter dedicated to that but jeb post only about snapshots on Mojang's website.

I also suppose you could follow jeb on twitter too since he announces them there too.

  17. http://www.ag.senate...ssues/farm-bill You can read a summary of the bill or the entire Farm Bill there. A thousand pages but the fonts are huge so its only really like 500 pages... Looking at the summary for Title III of the Farm Bill... I think its still in there. I'll have to take a look at the full bill to know for sure. Edit: Regarding Gerbil's post... see bold part. http://www.usda.gov/wps/portal/usda/usdamediafb?contentid=2012/06/0206.xml&printable=true&contentidonly=true So yeah, I don't think so.
  18. I am going to photo document my gardening attempt. I have no experience and I have done little research. I am just learning as I go. My only saving safety net is the climate around here else I would be screwed to frozen hell. Perhaps I could start a thread.http://imgur.com/a/SWNI6#0

I feel that the UK got less reason to do all the bad acts themselves since anything terrorism could be potentially linked to the US. Once you do that, the CIA will come knocking and do all the dirty work for you. Not saying that the UK and other countries don't have special groups that go sniffing and digging for any threat to themselves. Sometimes they do dig up stuff unrelated to themselves and they'll pass on the info. That is how I feel how they would work like.
  20. Having that sort of effect on people seems almost expected since, in most cases, if there is a belief about heaven then there is one for hell as well. People also looks at the negative more than the positive. Hell, look at how people react to video games to see an example of this. Always got to look out fr number one...
  21. Pretty much what I have done. I'm about to transfer my SSP map over to the SMP map, which share the same seed which essentially makes SMP my single player game since barely anybody comes by my server (Edit:I guess I can't for now..). Since I am pretty hands off, my only protection at the moment is to have a level backup every night. `Mojang's goal is to SMP and SSP to be the pretty much the same exact thing. It should in theory make it easier to update the game since they'll only be working on one version now, instead of two. It make life easier all around. I think. Not sure how it changes things for server owners. Lastly watch this dude.
  22. Oh Glob, the artist/animator for Bonzi Buddy was from Cal Poly. I feel soiled. SOILED.

Just being over dramatic. Remember Bonzi Buddy, that purple gorilla? Some art grad from my university help make Bonzi Buddy. Ancient history but still.

  24. I trolled myself with the password hint. My password was a password I used. Not an old old old old old username.

If you do get locked out (or want to know how secure your PC is...) if it's a Windows PC, you can easily get bootable utility disks that will reset Windows passwords - though any files that were encrypted with Windows will be lost (though the owner can back up the keys somehow...)

Oddly, I couldn't get those program to work. I totally punched in my password by frustration...

  25. Lets see if I can convince my mom to get a vermicompost bin plus worms and such for my B-day. All to play around with in my little garden and perhaps to use on my grandma's garden. Worm castings are good shit. Literally.

The best part is you can take your own soil samples and have an excuse to do so!

I have a friend that does this and most of her back yard is a garden. She lets people come in and take what vegetables they want, since she grows so much and just enjoys doing it all from scratch.
