  1. Metal Gear being played by people who haven't played it before, while being watched by a guy who is a bit into his MGS.
  2. Mortal Engines teaser (warning, it's one of those "plays 5 seconds beforehand" things) Oceans 8 teaser.
  3. Already happened, he's been handed his own non-Skywalker trilogy to direct. It's why I was quite keen on this one, given other Star Wars projects under Disney haven't been as enthusiastic on their directors so obviously he'd done something right for Disney for them to give him a whole trilogy before TLJ even launched. @Thursday Next [/spoiler]
  4. Star Wars: The Last Jedi Went to the midnight screening So I'm gonna straight up open with making good on a promise I made on discord that I could list a bunch of actual plot elements in this film and you'd think I was pulling your chain. Like these totally happen, so don't click unless you want spoilers. I'm just giving examples so you know I wasn't pulling shit out my arse: Anywho onwards to the film: It's good. There's things I could pull apart, the biggest most glaring thing for me is that it's following on from TFA in having too many characters. You've got: Rey Luke Finn Po Leia Holder Rose Thief Kylo Snoke Hux Phasma Redacted Redacted And it leads to like three-four different little storylines going on. Compared to with the OG trilogy where you'd have like Cloud City & Dagobah, Endor & Death Star which were much more manageable. There's also a definite change in directorial style. It opens with the usual motif; a pan down from space, a spaceship and a planet. But you come out being aware that it's otherwise after that first 5 minutes quite different (and I think that's where this film has tried to place itself, in comparison to TFA which clearly tread in the footprints of New Hope). Whether that's a thing that is a negative or not I guess ties into how hooked you are into the usual transition wipes and such. There is a particular shot that I really want to get in wallpaper form So prettyyy Plotwise no it's not ESB, but it is derivative of quite a few other sci-fi TV shows I've seen but what can you do. Still it has loads in it that's there to kind of cover a few issues with TFA as well as make a point that it's not your daddies Star Wars (like it's a pretty big theme with several of the characters). Anywho onwards to my totally spoiler filled discussion Anyway go watch it so we can talk more on it. It's a 2.5hr long film so I know there's loads more I could discuss but it's a bit draining.
  5. It's weird the thumbnail is Infinity War given they only briefly touch upon it, but otherwise a good short history of the trailer with a good example used to show the evolution and such.
  6. Best I can tell, there's only PSVR versions and I don't know if they're controlled differently on PC, it walks about as expected using the analog stick. No idea why it's teleporting on FO4. I've seen a short snippet of Doom VR and it also seems to use the teleport method.
  7. I'd say his output of good films outweighs the output of bad. Anywho with Annihilation it turns out I actually own the book on Kindle, so I should maybe give that a read sometime. All down for some Oscaar Isaac and badass women and weird sci-fi trippiness.
  8. So I put on a "Christmas No 1" playlist the other day and this came up. At first I was like "wait, what happened to the music". Then my brain sped up and I remember that it actually was a xmas no1 a few years ago. Also in music cock ups I figured we'd have a mix from some xmas songs so I put on the UK Top 50...which is like 60% christmas songs this time of year.
  9. So that weird teleportation mechanic tells me that VR is not the best way to do open world games. Especially given it needed to be used several times just to get around that first cabin. Also what the fuck is up with VR videos not loading with a 360 view? This one is SQUARE!
  10. And hey if you want some tears:
  11. My teen sister wanted Panic at the Disco so I wacked a search in Spotify, got this playlist so myself and my twenties sister went back in time instead and my teen sister got exposed to a lot more artists.
  12. Re: Battle Angel - So I've seen folks be "well she's an android, so it'll make her stand out as non-human", but that falls down with the "but there's other androids and they don't have weird eyes". Re: Ready Player One: Crazy thought here but I think Spielberg, that Oscar/Golden Globe winning/nominated director might do an alright job in adapting the book, especially given Jurassic Park was pretty heavily reworked for the film apart from the "dino park gets made, is a disaster". But maybe the guy who submitted Schindler's List as his film school dissertation piece might be a crappy director. Dunno.
  13. Yeah @Ultra TCP found out he has a fetish.
  14. The fucking cheek. Gotta love that "Nah, home is sarf landan mate" response.
  15. Humble Bundle for this month, so Dawn of War III, Long Dark and err the time/TV one with Iceman.
  16. We don't get Shape of Water until next year. Hoping it'll be showing locally, but not holding out too much hope.
  17. Eh, who needs to actually work out what the impact of Brexit will be. Just power on through.
