  1. Aye was aware, though I wouldn't say it's much of a crutch for either Whedon or Snyder to use. (it's listed as directed by Snyder, though unsure if Whedon left his name off due to having a light touch on the finished film, or not wanting to put his name to it). The Moustache-o-meter does make for a handy re-shoot guide. The opening scene was clearly a Whedon addition. I've seen folks trying to figure if the Gadot butt shots are Whedon or Snyder but I'd say based on their previous outings it's probably both.
  2. Justice League tl;dr - At least I got a cool Flash wristband out of it. None tl:dr: Where to begin? Do I start at the bit with the Batman PoV/FPS shot(no idea what we're calling them). Do I start with the godawful photoshopping out of Cavill's moustache Or do I start with the numerous godawful plot holes and the fact that I'd somewhat consider myself a comic nerd and found much of what was going on impenetrable. The main good thing about it was that the title theme was a IRL update of this: (minus GL, Hawkgirl and John...in fact I don't think it had Cyborg in it) Just watch this: It's kinda similar in a bunch of elements(Parademons invading, confused for being Batman cos dark n winged, motherboxes involved, Cybrog being part-motherbox n the JL forming up), but with Darksied instead of Darksied lite, and with Shazam/Captain Marvel and Green Lantern also there. It's not Nathan Fillion as Green Lantern in this one though, but it is Alan Tudyk as Superman.
  3. Oh yeah I also got this. You may know if you follow me on Twitter
  4. But the question is if it will embrace the stupid. I'm totally down with silly films that embrace the silly (e.g Pacific Rim).
  5. Turns out robo jumping is hard on the crotch. Also regarding the above stuff this popped into my view a couple weeks ago. It's okay, main limitation is actually the camera quality (i.e it didn't like my not super well lit room for seeing things) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=org.tensorflow.detect
  6. Man, it's an old meme but dang is it good in Reynolds hands.
  7. Space Plan Was okay while it lasted but was pretty meh at the end. Essentially a clicker game with a fun narrator.
  8. Man, kinda happy that Elfman will be doing score for Justice League with the original Batman theme. Also today spent a chunk listening to Justice since I had the office (mostly) to myself.
  9. https://mondotees.com/pages/infection-at-outpost-31 Mondo, purveyor of fine collectables, are doing a board-game based on The Thing. I'd actually forgot about it but saw a link for something else on their site n was "oh yeah there was that". Bit of a write up here https://arstechnica.co.uk/gaming/2017/09/review-lies-infection-and-shapeshifting-in-new-the-thing-boardgame/ Or a podcast here: https://open.spotify.com/episode/7e3Td1L5xj4SsECSgc0Pym
  10. A pretty in-depth article on NYT about mass shootings in US that pretty much concludes what most already know: it's cos there's loads of guns. https://www.nytimes.com/2017/11/07/world/americas/mass-shootings-us-international.html
  11. Cheap, played it before, and a not too huge box for what I'd say is a "bigger" game so I can theoretically lug this into my bag quite easily.
  12. Or, as I have to introduce to family, ..."the Shiny crab". But yeah a good watch. Also I believe the Thor shorts were done by Taikai hence the similar comedy style. re: Death of Stalin: Talking on the Empire podcast Jason Isaacs said he'd wanted to Yorkshire as his character was going to be one of the blunter ones, having won WWII there wasn't much Stalin could do to him, and he was like "well Yorkshire-men are some of the bluntest people I know".
  13. http://www.hollywoodreporter.com/heat-vision/x-men-animated-series-story-90s-cartoon-hit-1052263 A history of the, now 25 years old, X-Men cartoon. The one that you can't even think of without getting this song stuck in your head: Still worth watching:
  14. Thor Ragnarok So this film is, failing all else, pure fun and I'd recommend going to see it purely based on that even if you're not much for the MCU. (also see What We Do in the Shadows and Hunt for the Wilderpeople). Certainly a pretty great MCU film, easily the best Thor film (though it does need the others to kind of rest on and some of the gags do require you to have seen the other films). Visually it's great, the music is pretty damn great (one of the better original scores in the MCU), and it still develops character too. Like this is the first film, of the 7(?) he's in, that shows him properly being in a position as a leader to be king of Asgard (despite it being part of his first introduction in the original Thor). Been a pretty good year for the MCU, here's hoping next year repeats it. God could you imagine releasing a comic book film two weeks after this one? Some of the press junket stuff, especially with Taikai and Goldblum, has been a joy too and you can see them for free.
  15. Murder on the Orient Express It was okay. I don't really do these kinds of films which probably explains some of my ambivalence and also why I didn't know the ending, but you do see it coming fairly quickly. It's got some nice shots, especially given much of it takes place on a train where you're pretty limited to how you can shoot. Though there is one rather on-the-nose scene that's basically everyone sat out along a table Last Supper style. With the cast it has it's pretty hard not to be at least "okay". I'd say go see Thor if your local cinema is showing it. Oh the moustache is pretty impressive, practically gets its own credits.
  16. The scissors in the kitchen of my current place of occupation are a bit naf, though I've used them in a pinch they're a bit of a pain as they're too small so you end up having your fingers and the handle in the pizza. I've a decent pair of scissors (and a pizza cutter) in my stuff, but it's all in storage until I make the even bigger purchase.
  17. This is pretty interesting device.
  18. Went on a wee shopping trip and got: - A new satchel - A camera backpack so I can go cycling - a new alarm clock - a network extender kit - a pizza cutter - a zinger burger Also wanted a coat but only saw two I liked and one was £150 and the other was significantly cheaper but hard weirdly tight arms (it otherwise was really nice )
  19. Destiny 2 main story. It was okay though I felt from a mechanical perspective they could have structured it a bit better in using it to guide you through the game. Also after playing Warframe for a chunk between the two games I'm slightly bummed about there being less than half a dozen locations still (though they do seem a bit bigger, and some good exploration of sorts with the stashes). Farm > Tower. One big annoyance, which I was going to post about the other day only I'd forgotten exactly what it was that was annoying only to jump back into the game and be promptly reminded: When you're in places you don't revive it still deducts your ammo and charges (the charges seem stupid long imo). So it's kinda like "so you struggled with this section when you had a full load of rockets and your grenade charged, but now do it again but with your super spent and not rockets...you'll do better this time we promise". Just seems stupid and I can't see any reason they'd set it up that way. Still do the thing where it completely resets your ability charges if you change sub-class too which from a PvE (heck even PvP) sense doesn't strike me as making any sense. I'd be interested to hear their game balance justification around it. Otherwise it's the same itch the first scratched and with the main campaign done I'm a bit freer to dip in and out a short bit here n there. It's a good game for having a bit of youtube on in the background or what not.
