  1. We'd make a wishlisht, hence the main choice of Steam and GOG as they have Wishlist facilities. e.g http://steamcommunity.com/id/deanbmmv/wishlist Your secret santa would pick from that list, so you're not going to be getting something you don't want.
  2. Florida is a dick, I thought this was well known.
  3. Yeah it's currently Obama 78 n 76 Romney at the moment on the beeb. Also the BBC reporters have gravitated towards bars.

Yeah it's a bit crud to point towards ME3 as a bad example. Sure it's kinda token, but at the very least it's not a stereotype. Especially as the otherside of the spectrum is where you end up coloured cubes moving around otherly coloured cubes which I feel is just as, if not more so, bad. A cube doesn't have a lisp and mince about, but it's still clearly defined as "different".
  5. Yeah, seems they close from 7PM through to 8PM, this show started at 12AM for us(7PM for Washington where they're at). It's a bit annoying actually cos they carry on using the US time despite being a British team for a British broadcast. Oh yeah I didn't post this before: http://thenextweb.com/shareables/2012/11/06/reddit-user-captures-video-of-2012-voting-machines-altering-votes/ It has, BBC have also been covering this story, since been fixed (not that it wasn't "fixed" before heheh)
  6. We're watching Dimbleby on BBC News at the moment (and through into the night). Seems to be that it's still being called close by everyone. They have a lot of data stuff n virtual studios going on too comparing the breakdown from last time. Currently going through the ethnic vote since Carter (seems it's important for Democrats) They do have a counter on the bottom that's currently showing 3 for Obama and 19 for Romney, but I think that's not actual results at the moment but geusstimates. edit: The republican guy they're chatting with just said "President Romney", someone is a bit presumptuous .

    Windows 8

Surely if Metro was a compelling interface and environment then users and developers would naturally gravitate towards it rather than being needed to be force fed it? I don't get my own point? lolwut. I know exactly what I was saying, you're the one that struggled to grasp the point I was making. You've struggled to grasp the point even when directly comparing Windows 8 to other desktop OSes. The method of powering off an Android phone is the same method as used in phones from way back when. Windows 8 is a massive change from the powering down the computer from the way desktop OSes have worked across platforms and time. Focusing on the button of a phone is what is missing the point. 99% of laptops are interfaced with via a kb/m, same as desktops, touchscreen laptops and desktops are still exceedingly rare (though yes likely to be pushed more now). I have continually focused on the use of kb/m within Windows 8. Just becuase I don't mention netbooks/laptops/notebooks/portables/whatever by name doesn't mean I'm ignoring them, I'm just saving on typing it out every time to sate your silly needs. The reason I didn't take in their phone and tablet sales is because we're discussing a computer operating system, not a phone one. And even taking into account their tablets they still have jack shit of the computer market. If you're wanting to take into account all the OSes on the planet it becomes a whole different ballgame. So yeah the focus is on computer operating systems, especially on talking about enterprise as we were at the time. Proof on threat of the Windows desktop being phased out? Easy, MS-DOS. They came out with Windows and it's new GUI interface and had MS-DOS as something you could go back to within Windows should you still need legacy programs like WordPerfect and Lotus 123. And slowly but surely it was phased out to the point it no longer runs without using a VM/emulator. You honestly don't think this won't happen with Windows in future?

    Windows 8

I posted that article a while back, that's just a Gamastura republishing. It's worth noting it was written at a time when it still had PEGI 18 games banned under its rules. But yeah the fact that legacy desktop will eventually be abandoned is certainly one of the major issues people will be facing.
  9. Sounds like a scaled up Windows Phone with Xbox branding (which they seemed to be spreading the Xbox brand out, see Windows 8). I doubt it'll run Xbox games (beyond any ported XBLA games). Seems a weird idea, though I would never expect them to make a handheld console, so I guess if they're wanting a portable a tablet makes sense of sorts.
  10. Why is BBC saying only 150million are eligible to vote? Surely half the population isn't below 18 or in prison(..yeah? :\)
  11. I've a copy of DOTA 2 to give away if anyone wants it?

    Windows 8

That's not my main issue, though yeah it's a dodgy practice. (I think OSX changed a couple years back to report the decimal version instead of 1024 version). Main issue is the OS running the tablet, and this is Windows RT (the ARM tablet optimized version), is eating up many many gigabytes of space. This is part of why MinWin was a much anticipated project that never concluded. On a desktop a large OS isn't an issue, they have spacious hard drives. But on a tablet flash storage space is at a premium and 13GB taken by the OS is ridiculous.

http://www.microsoft.com/Surface/en-US/support/surface-with-windows-RT/files-folders-and-online-storage/surface-disk-space-faq So here's another of those "and it has the negatives of both sides" things. So a properly mobile OS like iOS and Android is a few hundred megs to a gig in size. Windows is quite a bit larger than that, even on the skimped down Windows RT version. Meaning the 32GB MS Surface tablet you buy only has 16GBs of usable space. That's half the space it says on the box, that's fucking well out of order. Yes a "1000GB" drive is only like 920GB in reality, but to lose half the advertised space? That's well off.
  14. Remember guys, as Liberty Prime says: Better Dead than Red. And he's a 60 foot tall robot with laser vision, so I'd listen to him.

"Free games for everyone!!!!!!". At least that's how I picture the PC gaming scene. I don't know.

  15. Are they digital? It's worth noting that at least in the US there's no requirement to get an ESRB rating (and up until very recently it was a somewhat costly procedure for cheaply made digital games), just console makers demand it. PC, not so much.
  16. It's a rise in income tax on the rich, and a minor raise in sales tax for everyone else. You 1%er.
  17. Love Actually is awesome. And yeah it doesn't really follow standard romantic film plot. Especially as it's got many intertwined with each other. And it's not shit, nor does it have Jennifer Aniston in it.
  18. I understand that anyone can die at any minute, my main complaint is that outside of a very small core of characters(Which I'm to understand will soon get much smaller) they just don't expand upon them much, even the guys that have been around since early days. They're just there then they're not. Henshel looked like he was going to get a fair bit interesting, especially with his protection and theories of the roamers, then he changes his mind and becomes just another guy with a lot of dead family members.
  19. And thus slowly begins the pops and screams outside my window. Hoorah. :D

Glad the zombie apocalypse isn't starting here!

  20. So been reading Walking Dead. Really sucks you in. Probably won't watch the show as I'm somewhat squeamish and with a comic I can dwell on the frames for as long and short as I want. I'd say my main issue is how quickly they can introduce and then kill off characters. Many of them don't get much of an expansion on their personality, and this includes some that have been tagging along since the start. Most of the expansion seems to be in who is hooking up with who, a lone character has no impact on the story if they're killed off for no one to care about them I guess. Also I say I won't watch the show, my mum does so I've seen snippets and from what I've seen TV show Rick is a dick, but comic book Rick isn't. Oh yeah I'm currently up to them not long being in woodbury.
  21. The trailer for the DLC Revanchist is excited about Set in (well..off the coast of) Morrowing...oooohh. (Also do I espy flying on a dragon...)
  22. I can likely do $10 by then (given Xmas job). GOG gifts do require email addresses btw (which I guess if wanting to keep things secret I can supply) http://www.gog.com/en/support/website_help/gift_certificates Obviously folks should keep their Steam wishlists up to date, and include a nice spread, don't be all $60 brand fire new games (though I don't think that was an issue last year).
  23. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-20202005 Living Wage eh. Big news. I actually heard about it first on the local news as Newcastle City Council are one of the main adopters of it. I think this would largely affect those on part time jobs because it would help bring the wage closer to one a full time job on minimum wage would provide.
  24. Some guys on BBC today, as best I could tell one from Repubs and one from Democrats. They got rather heated, and we're not even voting no need convincing us of how good your candidate is. (especially since..oh it never got posted..yeah even our Tories prefer Obama by 90%). It was funny til I realised this was just a short segment on our tele. You guys must be getting it real bad.
