  1. Only if ancient is "past few days". There's a good breakdown here btw: http://www.forbes.com/sites/calebmelby/2012/11/12/breaking-down-centi-millionaire-papa-john-schnatters-obamacare-math/ Their pizza give away amounted four times as much as the ACA stuff adds on to costs. So if he was to maybe hold back on half a million free pizzas then boom, books are balanced.
  2. I think this may have been posted before. It's an Italian song, but in English. Except not quite, cos it's in "how foreigners hear English songs, English".
  3. That's one hell of a pretty way to end your MMO (for the time being, they're brining it back brand fire new at some point in the future).
  4. IT does kinda feel easier. I'm certainly not dying as often as I used to. Though it's also a bit more grindy as you're limited by "Estus flasks" instead of having a ton of grass for health, so you're popping back to the bonfire to replenish those (which in turns replenishes enemies). But grindy does mean more souls to level up/trade with. I'm not too far into the game mind, and only fought one boss. The bosses could be shit loads harder.
  5. Hah, Tesco made a typo.
  6. Same disc printing/packaging plant most likely. That factory will now of course be in deep shit. Also Mass Effect 2 is on two discs too, so they likely only have half of both games. Oh and should this affect you: It's a Steamworks game so just "Activate Steam Game", put in your key and download it like any other Steam game. Not entirely ideal, but at least you're not totally fucked.
  7. Chew said he: Referencing Excel Excel (I assume). But Excel is also a spreadsheet program in Microsoft Office, thus Chew could be saying for his Secret Santa gift he wishes he could get a copy of MS Excel. EVE Online is referred to as "Spreadsheets in space" due to the vast number crunching one can do in the game economy. There's half the battle.
  8. And then Microsoft fire the guy behind Windows 8 and Surface tablet. Hmm

"Tensions with other Microsoft executives" is all we have up to now.

      Faiblesse Des Sens

^Other articles I've read now seem to indicate he was very hard to work with but always met his release dates and headed up several successful product launches.

That's so often the way it goes; project leaders who put a ridiculous amount of pressure on their staff and are incredibly cut-throat, no-shit with peers, who make deadlines with success, but no friends in the process.

  9. When folks call EVE "spreadsheets in space" they're just making a joke.
  10. @TFG: Not necessarily. I've always understood accent to be more how the word is said than what is said. @Fuchikoma: As far as I'm aware the film gaffer comes from the boss gaffer. The gaffer being the boss of the lighting/technical dept, best boy n all that being under him. I'd take a stab at "yonder" sounding literary due to maybe reading it in books written by English authors?
  11. Was actually trying to find something else and came across this in the BBC web archives: http://www.bbc.co.uk/northyorkshire/voices2005/glossary/glossary.shtml Surely some of those aren't yorkshire specific?
  12. Yeah, we're not exactly much of a nation to celebrate active/recently active soldiers. (Especially with stuff like the Afghan/Iraq war of late).
  13. So that was fun. I think more folks next time though :P

  14. Remembrance Day does double duty for that (though it is mainly focused at WWI n WWII, so most of those are dead)
  15. If you're aiming to be getting stuff on Steam might I suggest if you're planning on participating but unsure if you're have the funds come Steam sales, to maybe put $10 or so into the Steam Wallet.

    Valve

http://lambdageneration.com/posts/gabe-newell-officially-confirms-that-a-next-gen-valve-engine-is-in-development/ So Source 2 is pretty much in the works. As already hinted at in various snippets of source code, but now the big(slimming) man himself has confirmed it.
  17. Yeah having the day off is a definite change. (It'd mean jack this year though as Sunday is normally a day off). We have at most a two minute silence (both on the 11th and on the Sunday, which as noted is the same day this year around). You guys have anything similar to the poppy, or do you have the poppies too?
  18. So what's different for Remembrance day in US (beyond the change to Veterans Day)?
  19. But the storylines are still fairly ridiculous from a real world point anyway. You're stealing fancy cars for a guy who injects himself with shark testosterone. You're involved with a multitude of gangs who don't seem to care you're working for rival gangs (or even the gov't, and they not only don't care you work for other gangs but that's why they want you). Their storylines are at most "Hollywood real", and female car thief/robber/assassin would work within that. And if R* feel they can't work with that kind of material then it only looks bad on them (especially since folks suck their cock for RDR). The whole strength issue is only one of gameplay, not story. And while I feel these guys will be strong enough, I severely doubt they'll be "very strong". That would be something that would be weird. Note how Brucie is painted as someone being a bit odd in the last game. Most of the NPCs (and the PC) are of average fitness. No Mr Universes. And that is realistic (enough. It's worth noting here's no one obese in GTA land). Anyway if you really wanted to unify the gameplay and story have her as an undercover cop or something, a physical fit and properly trained cop would explain a lot of things from being a good fist fighter to being a skilled shooter and high speed car driver. But it would probably be the first time there's ever been a story element added to explain the many quirks of what the PC can do. (beyond the ability to call up a taxi on the cheap) Also I don't feel their reasoning are obvious, but I'd be interested in hearing them.
  20. Okay someone fill me in with regards to the whole BBC Newsnight thing. I've got bits n bobs from some places, defiently the result, but I don't quite understand what the fuse was. As best I can tell it's the opposite of the Newsnight issue a month or so back where they didn't report about a potential paedophile, and now they're in bother for reporting on a potential paedophile.
  21. Android can be limited by: Device type (phone/tablet), device version, screen resolution, screen size and ratio, and very likely device specifically too (such as only having it run on Tegra 3 devices). It's rather fine grained. Though you cna usually bypass it and grab the APK and sideload it anyway only to find that it runs like shit and there's a reason it's not listed on Play Store for your device (oh the joys of being a Wildfire owner for a fair while)
  22. http://www.washingtonpost.com/politics/decision2012/the-strategy-that-paved-a-winning-path/2012/11/07/0a1201c8-2769-11e2-b2a0-ae18d6159439_story.html A good article about the campaign strategy of both camps n how the steps along the way lost/won an election.
  23. Marvel Zombies. Pretty good, though it's spread across a few other comics too so kinda hard to completely follow along with. Neat twist at the end, and a good overall play around with the zombie idea and messing with some of the "laws" of the marvel universe to interesting effect, which otherwise wouldn't be possible without a "what if" scenario.
  24. I understand that in the real non-computed world if you put a man and a woman in a ring and had them beat the shit out of each other, then there's a likely chance that the man would win. But this is GTAV, a video game, where the laws of our world do not apply (And on top of that it's not MMA V, it's GTAV, a game where you spend most of the time stealing & driving cars, and firing guns, which is a pretty even playing field between men and women.) And you're not a top line Olympian either, don't forget in GTAIV (which is part of the "realistic GTA") you play a slightly tubby not-physical peak dude. As far as realism goes, it just simply doesn't matter. Or there would be a lot more changes to the GTA series than not having any female PCs. Thus the only issue that crops up is if it's "hollywood real", is it a "real" that we as gamers will accept. And given the fact I was fine with the idea of Lori beating the shit out of Quaid despite him being a male agent , I'm pretty sure gamers won't mind it if the female PC could run, shoot and punch on par with the other male PCs. I've already mentioned about Femshep, a female PC in an action game that not only do people not have no issue with her being perfectly on par with her male equivalent, but in fact idolize her. Their writing ability is about the only major thing it would come down to, but given they managed to hamfist a "proper" relationship into a game where you can ...oh I guess there's one issue: female hookers. Anywho..grab random hookers off a street and also date many other women throughout the game, I'm sure writing a GTA-level storyline for a female character wouldn't/shouldn't prove too hard. @W&S: You already said you were going to leave this discussion.
  25. Would there be interest in some form of DOTA 2ing tomorrow night/evening (as in like 10PM GMTish)

I know Duke and Harri also have the game, so all attempts to force them to play will be welcome.
