  1. Capitalism in action I'll be getting ps3 version anyway but I doubt it will be much to write home about and likely 360 and PC will get it eventually.
  2. Steam sale is cheap, but at free GOG was even cheaper. No perks to Steam version either.
  3. I didn't even know what it was until half hour ago. Moron is fine.

    Apple

I did say "hacker (if you could call him that)". And yeah it's exceedingly stupid. It's part of the "find my iPhone" thing, which is part of Mobile.me, which got rolled into iCloud. It's worth noting Steve Jobs considered the mobile.me team a blemish upon the Apple name(probably why it got dissolved into iCloud),, so the fact they had a "feature" like this is unsurprising.
  5. Some Black Mesa footage. Also there's rumours floating around on "Source 2" references in Source Filmmaker.

You'd think they'd maybe post it on Gizmodo instead of his personal Tumblr wouldn't ya?

    Apple

I've been retweeting about this past few days: http://www.emptyage.com/post/28679875595/yes-i-was-hacked-hard One of the Gizmodo writers had his iCloud account taken over and from there his iPhone, iPad, iMac all remotely wiped and due to stuff being associated with each other also had his gmail account deleted and twitter compromised. Didn't even require any fancy hacks, Apple Support handed over the account through a phone call by the hacker(if you could call him that). http://www.forbes.com/sites/adriankingsleyhughes/2012/08/05/apple-allowed-hackers-access-to-users-icloud-account/ Why the hell a cloud storage service can completely wipe all your data (and not just the data stored in the cloud, I wouldn't want Dropbox cleaning out my PC or phone) is anyones guess. I'll guess it's one of those "made for humans" innovations Apple like to come up with. Streamlining process and services like that can make things easy to use, but it can make it easy to abuse. This is both a good warning on: 1. Keep back-ups (something a Gizmodo writer shouldn't really need to be told tbh) 2. Don't put all your eggs in one basket. 3. If you're an iCloud user may I suggest digging through whatever settings it may have and if possibly disabling the remote wipe features.
  8. http://www.propublica.org/article/is-your-neighbor-a-democrat-obama-has-an-app-for-that Yes it's public information, but normally it's PITA public information.

    Learning Coding

I've been running through a beginners guide to Android thing (ever so slightly outdated though, but it has you coding for Cupcake so not a huge bother I guess). However while I've been fine working my way through it and grasping a few bits here n there quite well. I had to work past the initial issue of small screen on my netbook, but easily resolved by just minimizing most panels that aren't in use. It's a pretty nice program, simpler to work though than I thought it'd be. The major hurdle I've hit is that they don't run on my netbook when I go to compile them. So now to speed through the guide to get to the part on running the app on your phone direct. What my main aim is to make an app for myself that's pretty much this app but better (mainly making it to better android guidelines standards, as well as making it work properly with the books rule sets n such). I dunno if to make it for my Note, which would mean a high DPI scheme for ICS, or for general phones with GB support so I could maybe chuck it up on Play Store for others to use. Either way if it goes well I might chuck out a few more apps, maybe see about making a bit of cash on the side from it. Or just get bored midway through and end up dropping it like all my other schemes
  11. One of EAs racing games on Android is on sale (cos the next game is coming out) https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.ea.game.realracing2_OTD_row Anyone know if it's worth picking up?

    Apple

Wait samsung use non-micro usb charging cables in US? I thought that (apart from apple who are special) phone makers had welcomed the EU standardisation and brought it around globaly because it made everything cheapet to make even if it meant losing out on proprietary cable profits(which I got think outweighed by savings) Also apple icons are square, the samsung icons on here are kinda wiggly pinched in things(apart from a round one and metaphorical ones like diarys, messaging n notepad)

    Windows 8

Already up apparently. Metro is also no longer a "thing". http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/technology-19108952 Trademark issues.
  14. Sir You are Being Hunted is by one of the RPS guys. They did a game for Channel 4 too. SYaBH is rather pretty, and he seems to be having fun knocking out screenshots from it. As for games that change SMT: Lucifers Call had it where the neon lines on your body would change colour depending upon your choices through the game. I do like that kind of thing. Bit like the HP notification on the back of Isaac.
  15. @Ethan: Nah that's the issue people take with petrol + bullet = flameball/explosion as seen in films n such. That's not so much specifically related to the "Red barrel" thing, especially since not all Red Barrels in games are specifically petrol. People dislike there's little variety in it. Barrels and other items that explode are red. Especially when most fuel barrels aren't always red. e.g There's a great post on the topic by People Can Fly (Bulletstorm devs) http://www.peoplecanfly.com/blog/2011/01/we-had-to-use-red-barrels/ They did playtest non-red barrels. It doesn't work. And I bet they're not the only dev to find that one out. Those "couple more places" are a couple more places than there should have been.
  16. Oh yeah Romney went to Israel. Israel is mores successful than Palestine because Israel has a better culture so says Romney. Apparently Romney is now back in the US and attacking the "auto bailout" (I assume to help flagging car companies), which was supposedly one of Obamas success. This doesn't seem to be getting a good reaction either(Seems the bailout helped keep a fair few folks in jobs).

    Apple

Design patent. I didn't know it was a thing either. But yeah Apple own the design patent on black rectangular touch screen phones. Hence the SIII being the "the first phone designed by lawyers". Note how it goes from black rectangle to black rectangle to rounded off white rectnagle (also in blue) and a trapezium button. Funny thing is all the other Galaxy phones are black triangles. I wonder what the Note 2 will be like cos the Note 1 is jsut the SII but bigger.
  19. I'm gonna guess it's a renegade Reaper with a name like that. And also it doesn't actually work either (given it's mid ME3 and the Cucible was the anti-Reaper weapon. That was the point of ME3)
  20. Hmm. Maybe a split season? Next year is the anniversary btw. 50 Years of Doctor Who. And BBC are going to milk it to hell n back I reckon. I bet they've been on the phone with all the living doctors the past year at least seeing who'd be up for coming back on (and/or at least doing documentaries). Wonder if they could get Neil Gaiman back. He was pretty nifty.
  21. Mirrors Edge looks pretty great and has a highly distinctive style but it has a horrible case of not paying attention to itself. It points out certain items will glow red or yellow depending upon their use to use as a runner. They then create several buildings that are completely red and yellow. It throws you a fair bit.
  22. I'd have thought it the other way around. Or is that a case of the particular area you're in?

    Apple

At first I was like "I didn't release a press release, they were pissed that Samsung had". Then I scrolled up and turns out I did write Apple not Samsung for that part. Now corrected.
