See the UK version may have the upper hand in that our internet infrastructure a tad better, Onlive have tied themselves up with BT, which supply the backbone for every ISP out there except Virgin Media, and in the US they have data centers that cover 1000 miles. The UK is 874/603* miles from Lands End to John o' Groats *as the crow flies
  2. Just stick it to Normal view distance. I only have it come up when I'm on "Far". I've hit up Notch about it but no response. May see that GetSatisfaction has anything on it.
  3. Star Wars is not "fairly popular". Comparing Star Wars to Warhammer is like comparing Lord of the Rings to A Song of Ice and Fire. Or like comparing it to DC Comics like I did a while back? (maybe in the DC comics thread). Though talking of Lord of the Rings... Star Wars is not some mythical IP that is totally immune to flopping at the shadpow of WoW or the market forces of being infinitely more expensive than most other MMO's on the market. Right, that's what I'm saying. WoW costs money competes with free just fine. And what I'm saying is that it's WoW that forced the other MMOs to go free. TOR is not immune to this fate. Most previews painting it as a pretty lacklustre game don't really help much either. Much of TORs popularity hinges upon it being the Star Wars IP and the name of a popular studio.
  4. Blizzard? The company that forced the hand of pretty much every other MMO on the market into becoming free? If EA Think they can take an existing and fairly popular IP and churn out an MMO to compete with WoW then we only have to skip back in time 3 years ago to Warhammer Online.
  5. A year at most. How do you compete with free?
  6. So they wisely left the price off the date announcement: http://www.swtor.com...rticle/20110924

The looks leave something to be desired when compared to running natively on my PC. The cutscenes, but never in the game itself, did sometimes stutter a bit. Just a singular stutter n techno-sound, not like bunny hops kinda stuttering. Probably to do with loading maybe. I wanted to see if it did save states too so just quit midway, gonna see what happens when I load up tomorrow. For a pund it's not bad, and the £6.99/month isn't too bad either. (I pay £5 a month for Lovefilm which gets me 2 games a month). If your PC isn't that great, then it's a good service. Better than nothing. I wouldn't recommend it on fast paced stuff though. Oh a complaint would be that the reticle is a bit hard to see. ('cept when it flashes yellow on an enemy)

Believe me, it's what my fiancee's friends do. They have kids and had out with other people with kids so their kids can have playdates. I've seen it with many other females I know. It's a shame.

      I don't think it's water that's being spilled...

  11. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3LN6LBteGmA So the james cordon one was a bit :/ Cutesy n such, and had the forboding for the next episode, but "killed by love" was a bit bleurgh. The baby talk stuff was kinda neat. The laser sonic screwdriver effects were very nononono. Still, stetson, 4(5) envelopes, it's all lining up,
  12. Not yet had a chance to give it a full swing.
  13. Just got the email for "the announcement you've being waiting for" 22.12.11 3 days before Xmas. What.The.Fuck. I guess it'd make it a decent Xmas present but that's a fucking retarded launch day.

  15. RUMOURED. By some very retarded blogs. It isn't. You can use your XBL ID to sign into Windows 8. Sorry but you're going to remain a sad asian. Just on a technical level an X86 or ARM processor is not going to be able to run a PowerPC game. Certainly not in any playable fashion. Maybe Windows 18 could support Xbox 360 games, but I doubt that'll be through MS.
  16. AAA titles are defined mainly by budget and potential/reached sales. Oh and Budget very much includes marketing too. Halo is very much Triple-A and definitely up there with the GTAs n CODs (though if you are wanting a AAAA standard, then you have COD n GTA sitting pretty on their own. Maybe alongside the Sims n WoW)
  17. Keep in mind she's been pretty much kept as a pet sister by Xavier. This is her first time around fellow mutants so she doesn't have to care as much about her mutations side-effects.
  18. Though PC the first DLC (Bring down the sky) is free on PC. (and you get cool weapons out of it)
  19. http://hosted.ap.org/dynamic/stories/E/EU_BREAKING_LIGHT_SPEED?SITE=AP&SECTION=HOME&TEMPLATE=DEFAULT http://www.reuters.com/article/2011/09/22/us-science-light-idUSTRE78L4FH20110922] In case you haven't heard CERN reckons it's found neutrinos travelling faster than c. They're getting the international scientific community to check it all over just in case, but they seem fairly confident. Now folks are jumping to "time travel!!" but I don't think that'll happen, at least for humans or anything as big as us. Nor would it be feasible, or have any practical purpose, to send messages back in time since it's taken them a year to check their findings and it's only faster by a few nanoseconds. Though it is reckoned that electrons and positrons time travel, though given that's a quantum event and electrons are already a pain to check out as it is we're not certain.
  20. Yeah folks did rip some of it apart as while much of it doesn't make sense in relation to other words, it does make sense on an etymological level. For example in 50 years: "You wind a window down, but actually use a button" "High Definition is lower quality than holo projector" "You plus one a comment without actually adding anything to it" etc.
  21. Um, what about CS:GO? CS:GO is already close to beta phase, and is more of a CSS 1.5 rather than a CSS 2.0. So it's a prequel to CS1.6?
  22. They're not mutually exclusive(see L4D2 as a good example). Also the dedicated server thing is kinda veering this a tad off topic. 'Specially after Yante just linked the other thread
