You forgot to add "Lorem ipsum", "ex copyritum" and "wingardium leviosa". Us little people can understand what you're saying to Thursday.

http://torrentfreak....max-ceo-111004/ the tl;dr is that Mirimax CEO says the film industry fears a distribution monopoly over piracy. Apples iTunes monopoly and the baggage that comes with that is far more damaging than Napster was. So they're spreading their load over various services (apparently. I duno I only see Hulu n Napster) “When consumers tell you what they want, give it to them. Figure out a way to give it to them, because they will figure out a way to get it.” aka if they want it in digital form there n now... It's actually somewhat related to a comment I saw the other day in relation to the French three strikes law. That you can be done for downloading movies/tv etc, yet the companies that pushed the law have no legal alternatives in place. It's easier to slap people on the wrist than to develop the business. @Masterdex: Why'd you think I've stopped responding a page n a bit ago? When I realise I'm having to go down to the same level with hypotheticals I realised it wasn't going anywhere and not worth it any more. You can provide examples, counter-points, etc all you want but all you get back is: And it's only funny on Scrubs.

360 was just to sound larger/as large as the PS3. I doubt they'll go as extreme with the next Xbox.

1/3 of it is just the game loading up so you can easily skip that.

Sorry shoulda said someone else would do the stabbing. Actually how about you're stabbing, wife is fluid lungs. Also US stores are fine with you just using/eating shit along the way as long as you pay at the end? I'm pretty sure you won't be going by the checkout on the way to hospital either way. edit: Dammit now you got me doing hypothetical n what ifs. Damn you Yante! I will point out you're as sure that for you the ends wouldn't justify the means as sure as we are that if we test and are satisfied by a game we'll pick it up.
-
@Yante: You're in a supermarket. Your lungs fill with fluid and need to be drained. You need something to sterilise and something to pierce your rib cage. Handily there's copious quantities of kitchen knives and vodka. So does the person there n then take these off the shelves and do the operation, despite the fact these goods are unpaid for, or let you make a gurgle noise then expire? There's probably a bunch more. As you've said yourself there's no way you wouldn't know 'til it happens. (Just a world without piracy is many scales more improbably than medical complexities in a store) @Thursday: The fact they're not comparable was kinda my point. Also thanks for changing what I said.
-
Absolutely ever? Or just on topics you personally don't feel happy about? edit: @yante that is. The "1 post since" thing is a bit hit n miss. @Thursday: you know "About to hit a kid on a bike = leave tire marks on lawn" is not the same as "trial a game in order to make informed purchase = publisher get's a big miffed". Though I dunno, maybe people do avoid running over kids just for the lark?

That just leads to the Jehovahs Witness page n nowt there on giving blood :/ @Hot_heart: If Publishers were able to I'm sure they'd get used sales made illegal too. (A few have tried too, not necessarily in the games field though). They're certainly trying their damnedest to make it an unfavourable option.

I think with the bar he's talking about an actual pub. As in if you went to the Kings Arms today for a pint n meal and some folks were on a table discussing Steve Jobs would you interrupt them with your thoughts? For me that'd be a no since it's in a private setting as Thursday pointed out before as an appropriate time n place. However should one of them decide to pick up the karaoke mic and discuss Steve jobs then it becomes public and I'd step in at that point. This is a public forum.
-
I'm not really sure saving the life of Sephiroth would be a good idea. Also what is wrong with giving blood to Jehovas witnesses? All I know about them is the one kid I went to primary school with had to sit out of assembly cos of it. And either way: If you're dying, and I'm in a position to save your life, then fuck your religious beliefs. In general: If an option is there and it is available without causing harm or for malicious purposes, then take/do it.

Surely it's a bit of inequality to say only those who had a thing for him are allowed to speak up and everyone else has to keep shut for a week or so? I'd have kept out if it wasn't for the revisionism going on with his passing. If you think he's awesome then that's totally your opinion man. Just don't go inflating that. Also Thursday: Rarely?
-
@Thursday: You both went with the whole "you don't know you'd pirate/buy the game there n then if the option for piracy wasn't available". So yeah you both got your own parallel universe. And if you want I can not ever pirate/buy a EA Game ever again? That would cause financial harm though surely? Looking on Origin there's not a single demo, unless you count the BF3 beta. So it's clear as the content funders they're exercising their rights to not market the game to me. So I'll exercise my consumer rights in not buying anything. Also I had a scan though my PS3 games (since it's a smaller collection) and pretty much every game I own I've either demo'd (officially), previously borrowed off a mate, bought dirt cheap, or been a fan of the series. Only game not fitting that? Red Dead Redemption. I neither demo'd, play-tested, nor did I play Revolver. And it was new. Was pretty disappointed by it. Funnily talking of EA, my main drive of "try-before-you-buy" can be easily traced back to...Spore. I even bought the CE. I couldn't play the game for the first week due to the DRM and the overall game was a shallow piss take of what had been shown off and promised for years prior. EA are the sole creators of my cynicism in games and my drive to make sure to give a test before handing over any money. Money ain't cheap.

And some people go out of their way to make it the biggest news of the year. I've also voiced my opinion for years, it's not like I've waited til this day. And things like comparing Jobs to folks like Einstein & Co is something some of us do care about. He died, he was a good business man. But it's dishonest to put him on such a high pedestal and to attribute things to him that he didn't do. Kotick was an equally good business man but I doubt folks will be comparing him to Einstein and declaring him the greatest person of the last half century. Anywho I shall share my FB post:
-
Maybe not the right thing to say at this time but him being attributed as the iCreator is gettign a bit on my wick even if he's dead: Pixar - George Lucas. Jobs bought it. Apple Computer - Steve Wozniak. Jobs sold it. (Also it was made before Windows existed) iPod - Jonathan Ive. He's the guy behind most of their devices the past decade+ that Jobs has been around. I've never been a fan of him, his company or his products. Apart from possibly needing to add a new filter to DestroyTwitter today is going to be much the same as any other day for me. Hit me up when my gran dies (or any of yours. They've probably done more for you guys than Jobs has). So yeah, a dude dies. That's sad. Probably many thousands while I wrote this. Kinda sad too. Not much to dwell on really :/

So it's purely an opinion that I pirated Fallout 3 decided I liked it and bought it? It's opinion that I pirated Rock of Ages and now own it? It's opinion that I was lent Oblivion n Mirrors Edge n hey, guess what I own? Let's see, Dragon Age, (DRagon AGe 2 had a demo, I don't own Dragon Age 2), Civilization V, Borderlands, Witcher (I was lent, that was DRM free at the time). Srsly, my harddrive is just full of opinions. Shame they take up so many GBs. You did read what you linked yeah? (And it's behind a registration wall so the excerpt is all we have. It's also 15 years old and their wanting to change the classification is only 2 years old). Is your issue with Marujina that it's got potential health problems or that it was deemed illegal nearly 50 years ago? Because many reports will cite that alcohol and tobacco are much much more harmful, yet neither are illegal and I have a feeling you'd be just fine with them (if not having a tipple yourself time to time). Also Fuchikoma implied that he'd looked about on the various reports available, yet, even after stating you could find specific supports to support yourself one way or another, you only cited one. (Oh and before this goes much further I have no opinions on marujina use either way, if you use it whatever, just the same with tobacco smoking: don't do it near me. If people want to discuss marujina, do it in another thread) Oh and I'm off to bed, I'll respond to whatever when I'm back from this interview.
-
What part of responding to each of your points is not answering your questions? And my argument is invalid because what? What is it about my own purchasing habits can't I know? Look yante it's frankly pretty annoying and disgusting that you are using your presumptions and opinion on our thought patterns to attempt to over rule what we know is fact. Also I googled AMA (time on Reddit means it's something else to me) and then had a look on their views of marujina, and the top posts are all on them calling for it to be reduced in classification so it can be used in medicinal trials. It's kinda sad when you think less of someone for researching into an item. But I guess that has been the overall theme of the last few pages.

okay took a bit too long in adding the edit so new post: edit: hmm almost missed your first post. Forum is not liking this thread today: Because we're buying games to get enjoyment? It's a pretty simple concept. We don't go out to buy games in order to fund publishers just 'cos and certainly don't buy them in order to feel jipped. No No, but your question should be did I ever buy a game until the days of the net in which case: no. Wait a fucking minute. That's cheating and being highly presumptuous. Though if you hold on I'm booting up my PS3. Most rational people don't ask others questions and answer it for them, but hey! And if were were to live in this mythical parralel universe of what-ifs n no piracy, would we buy those same games? There's a decent likliehood that it'd be a no. Let's explore the line of thinking in these two universes: Hmm, new game come out. Looks somewhat need, wonder if it's worth splashing out on? Real world: Well let's pirate it and give it a spin to decide! Thursday & Yantes universe: Hmm, a box isn't much to go off. Oh hey FFXIII! A couple hours tops. If we didn't enjoy it we move on, much the same as with any other demo(which we also didn't pay for). If we enjoy it we pick it up. hehehe. Guess you've not being doing PC gaming for a while huh? Refunds. Lol. You kinda said it yourself. I highlight it for you. edit: (Was aiming to grab this a while ago, finally got it taken n uploaded) Shame I can't put them in some cumulative grid. But yeah there's about...50+ demos or so on my console. edit2: So just a thought mid-way through washing up. Why is it not rational that people would want to try-before-you-buy in order to maximise limited funds by assuring that purchases we make are satisfactory? What part of that is not rational? edit3: I guess that means you're not quite sure how to respond?

Minus a handful: http://en.wikipedia....Station_3_games And on the PC front I can't think of any games that are uncracked so can't really offer up anything on that front.
-
Completely agree, so stop pretending like you can know the future by saying that you know you wouldn't have bought the game. I'm not. I have continually stuck to what I know I have done. It's you and Thursday trying to argue what-ifs and what-could've-beens. And you don't get to agree to something then go completely against the point you just agreed with.

Dammit Fuchikoma, it was almost back on topic then you brought up the fags again. Also I'll point out that using quotes it automatically adds in a space after, so if you add one too then it's double-spacing (I went n tweaked it for both yours since you both had em quite long) That doesn't mean that you wouldn't have bought if you hadn't pirated. You don't know the answer to that question. Why are you still working on this basis that we don't know our own thoughts? You told the tale of how you didn't buy the R4 because you felt it was of no value to you. Oddly we also have thoughts streaming through our heads of similar nature when going to purchase things. But apparently only you are able to plan your purchases out before hand the rest of us are all beasts of impulse. This is the definition of nonsensical. They reason why you pirated it is because you already have an interest in it and a desire to play it so you have already placed value on it. Yes we have an interest to at least give it a spin. It doesn't mean we have enough interest to shell out for it there n then. You don't go to a car salesmen and say "That toyota looks interesting, therefore I shall buy it right here right now because even the slightest interest means it's something I will absolutely purchase" Now you're attacking a straw man. We're talking cognitive dissonance here not the unknowable future. What people think they will do and what they actually do are two different things. No the whole "You may or may not" stuff is completely and utterly pointless to discuss and/or bring up. Until we develop a window into a parallel universe there's no point say "Well you may have" in any type of discussion. It goes nowhere and is always totally unfounded speculation. However what we can do is state what we have done and the resulting actions. Which in this case is that we have pirated games, and we have purchased games we've felt were pretty nifty.

Kinda like Xbox in The Island? I follow the person who spotted it. He's not much of a fan of gaming blogs. One in particular

Bethblog twitter just RT'd this from the RAGE account : http://forums.bethsoft.com/index.php?/topic/1236250-rage-support/page__p__18743528#entry18743528 Why?? Why release a game that relies on something that doesn't yet exist/isn't in use? It'd be like releasing a game in the P4 days that requires Dual-Core chips. Also most of those fixes would be easy to apply, like disabling v-sync n setting up textures to match PC power, if they just put in a graphic settings menu. Surely it's not a hard or difficult thing to do? And it'd save tons of pain and revving up the PR machine at launch?
