    Terrible Jokes

Overheard at the White House: Trump to Vice-President Mike Pence: "the less immigrants we let in the better." Pence to trump: "FEWER.." Trump interrupts Pence and says: "don't call me that in public". edit: Or this form which I've heard used before and I think works better tbh; Trump is attending a presentation about the condition of mining industry. The presenter says, "Too much effort is being spent on obscure materials. We're mining too many useless ores." Trump interjects, "Mine less of them then." Pence says quietly, "Mine fewer." Trump looks at him quickly and says, "Don't call me that in public."
  2. So results of my "stab in the dark guess the plot" bit Anywho So if you come out and are like "so who is that guy, n who are they meant to be" n so on Villain-wise Also a thought I'll post more things when I've an opportunity to bounce of you guys.
  3. Guardians of the Galaxy Vol 2 It's a bit alright. I'll probably post most of my musings on the MCU thread though. I think they've done quite well in using the time given from not having to do origins n set-ups or what not to instead delve more into the characters. It's pretty fucking colourful too, and certainly is like "oh yeah, comic book movie" (of which one segment, which also has a defining Stan Lee cameo in, that's stupidly silly). It also has a pretty dang good villain (though as per MCU only around for one film) that in one sentence manages to make you go from "yeah okay I kinda see their point" to "kill em, kill em now".
  4. I get to see this film in 4 hours. Hyped. bwahaha. I imagine that an accompanying music video to this is likely one of the 5 post-credit scenes. Lyrics (Well part of): Also gonna put a general stab in the dark here as a "guess the plot":
  5. "Exclusive: Trump says he thought being president would be easier than his old life" http://www.reuters.com/article/us-usa-trump-100days-idUSKBN17U0CA God, if this is harder than his old life I wonder how often he used to golf previously. Oh on the UA front the doctor has won an undisclosed settlement. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-39739737
  6. Chef So this has been on my list a while, seemed a fun film and it is quite like a snuggly warm blanket. The only "bad" thing is Dustin Hoffman as the pushy restaurant manager. His food truck does great, everyone loves his food, the divorced parents are not only amicable but help each other out, and the kid doesn't turn into an alcoholic. It's a feel good film with a huge chunk of food porn in it. Also I quite liked the twitter animation they had (the tweets hover in the air as they're typing, then it sorta origamis into a bird and flies away tweeting to itself as it does. It is going to age itself one day though given the kid is going around making vines. But I think it's quite good in that it actually explains what these services are and for (it's a bit of a plot element that Favreau doesn't understand Twitter at first), so that might help to a degree. I kinda liked the father-son relationship, while my dad is no chef I did enjoy helping him out with his race car as a kid so easy to see something of myself in there. It's hard not to see it as an allegory for Favreaus experience with Marvel. Having two actors from Iron Man 2 kinda helps cement it a fair bit. Favreaus chef wants to try something new, but Hoffman, twice, is all "no stick to the menu, it works". So he quits and goes on to run his own small independent food truck, much like Favreau leaving to do his own small independent film. I've also rewatched What We Do In the Shadows as a bit of a background film. I've also attempted to start on High Rise but I usually put a film on during tea(dinner/supper/evening meal) and got this far before putting something else on:
  7. While your AI doctor may not be bias in terms of age or gender they'll have other views instead
  8. Oil fields I'd guess. You can enable Satellite view which shows a lot of crazy spidery roads. Matching some spots up with proper Google Maps shows some of the more built up areas listed as "Oil Refinery". (Also I'm kinda enjoying how much this seems to have captivated a bunch of you). Anywho on topic of Russia (sort of) this popped up in my FB Memories. 31 years and a day since Chernobyl disaster. This Imgur article/album is always worth a read through Especially relevant I would say for us gamers since I'd guess the majority of us have crawled through that area in gillie suits to fire off a sniper, or maybe gone exploring the zone around it.
  9. Did a wipe on my phone. Backed up everything except my dang launcher, so now to customise that all over again. Otherwise rather painless.

Now to maybe do it to my PC, which I haven't done since Win 10 came out. Which WIki tells me was nearly 2 years ago. I guess that feels right.

I hadn't done a fresh Windows install until I rebuilt my computer, and I only did it then because the system prep thing didn't work right.  It definitely ran nicely afterward though.

  10. (Also apart from giving P3P I've only played SMT: Nocturne* :P. Bow before me filthy casuals!) *With Devil May Crysâ„¢ Dante!
  11. This is probably going to be much more common to have something like a companion bot for check ups, teleprescene etc for the elderly. Main thing I guess is giving them a friendly face and being usable by the elderly. For us we'd be pretty comfortable with something like that but current elderly, who need this tech today, aren't as "digital native" as would be required with some stuff. Also the "making wrong diagnosis" is something a doctor can do without technology, just your usual luditism. Slight shame they never discussed Watson, though I imagine that its own video altogether.
  12. Yeah quite out the left field in how popular it was. You read the comic it's (sorta) based on? I like it has Mark Hamill in both the comic and the film (though in one case he actually is Mark Hamill). Other than that I feel the film did it better.
  13. http://darksitefinder.com/maps/world.html Someone posted this on Reddit which shows light pollution and thus good spots to do a bit of stargazing. One element I like (since I don't like the bit with most of UK covered in some form or another) is it showing the oil fields in the North Sea And less fun I guess is the excellent night skies the citizens of North Korea have.
  14. Yeah very moving. Nothing after that original moving was ever as moving. But on a serious note, yeah it's right up there for my top 10 films. I can easily put it on and watch it. It has a nice self contained plot, all the characters are great and because you've a bunch of comedians at top of their game the dialogue is great and infinitely quotable, as noted above. Also it looks great due to the pre-CGI era and having to paint most of the effects onto the cel. (though the dog running across central park is a bit funky). Music, both in tracks and orchestral, is great too fitting both gothic horror style with funner lighter elements.
  15. So Star Wars Episode IX is due to come out 24th May 2019. I kinda like the current December trend. I know Han Solo also booking that trend and Rogue One wasn't meant to be December but fuck it, it's a good time for it. http://www.starwars.com/news/star-wars-episode-ix-and-next-indiana-jones-get-release-dates Also "StarWars.com. All Star Wars, all the time." Has news about Indiana Jones.
  16. Something a bit more slowed down than the above but not the same scenes
  17. "you digging for gold?" is a way to call out someone picking their nose. Booger would be used over here. Snot would be the usual word I guess. No idea what a decent term would be. I guess "nasal mucus" would be the scientific term but nobody would ever use it.
  18. I think they'd call it a "strainer"? Though to me a sieve is for sifting flour n the like, and a strainer for use with draining pasta, usually with a lot less fine holes, sometimes almost solid with large holes. I own a tiny sieve for icing sugar too (which I know has a different name in the US). Housemate has a smaller double sided spring loaded thing for loose tea too. Or it's possible Americans call it a sieve and the two in the video have just never baked. I know if I was to set a challenge to find some items in our kitchen based on their proper names rather than "it's the ceramic pot with a lid" they'd struggle to find items.
  19. We talking like black boogers, which I only ever get after a bbq or the steam gathering weekend at my grandparents village (loads of coal spewing machines gives the air a nice black sheen) Anywho
  20. I feel they have the advantage of releasing nearly two years after Witcher 3. Likely at first your mount just got near to you then one of the guys in development playing Witcher 3 was all "it's great n all but I wish Geralt would just get on Roach, there's a reason I called him over", and thus this got updated. They've actually been pretty good in post-release QoL tweaks so I imagine during development there was a lot of looking at what was out there n what worked and what didn't. Which I think is what has helped cement Horizon n Witcher as pretty damn fine games compared to say Bethesdas efforts where they just iterate on what they did last and not what everyone else did last.
  21. "Better than the original" *posts in the 'OK Movie' thread* "Is it true?" "Yes. This man has no penis."
  22. I am currently playing Warframe and atm I'm a day (of three) into building my first warframe (that isn't the one you pick at the start). I'm pretty excited. It's certainly scratching a shooting itch. I like some of the variety in the weapons. I started with a bow as my primary, which was fitting after having just wrapped up Horizon, but currently my fave gun is a kind of automatic cyclical shotgun. It burns through bullets like mad though. Recently found out as well one of my special powers that gives me a glowing super sword, is a fucking ranged weapon!! I've been using it at close range, so I hadn't noticed that my slashes go off into the distance like a phantom sword projecticle. It's pretty fun to kill enemies that way. Last weekend played some Jackbox, this time with my older sis and her BF joining in and our parents n grandparents observing to the side. At first people were like "so what do you do" but soon go the hang of it. Also played some Rocket League (got sisters BF to bring his controller so we could do two players). My sisters played each other, then I got royally trampled by her BF 15-0. He's obviously not attempting to please the big brother. I was on relatively even skill with my dad though. He quite enjoyed it once he had the (pretty simple) controls explained to him. He's more into his rally and F1 games, not this football+cars stuff Also with the time my younger bro spends customising his car I hate to see what he'll be like when he gets into Bethesda RPGs. I've also downloaded the DoWIII beta which I shall be giving a spin of later today (housework and shit first). edit: Gave DoW a spin. Made my own army, but turns out there's no bots in the MP so I've not played it proper. :/
  23. I'm just curious on how big a fan of Deus Ex she is, or is it a case of "hey if they're paying for it I'll take their design".
  24. I thought these were cool. It's something that had cropped into my head with people going on about "FF8" the other week.
