  1. This latest three parter fell a bit flat. It started kind of strong with that twist reveal near the end, second was quite good with that lab (the guy with a hangover previously played the dad in "My Parents are Aliens" which was quite amusing). But the finale was just a bit crap apart from Missy being in it. The whole "love conquers all" ending sucks and generally always will in Doctor Who. Species creates an extremely realistic simulation, is able to create a mass delusion, capable of near omnipotent acts, and yet is defeated by wuv.
  2. This seems to be getting a bit of buzz of late
  3. Rush Watched this with my dad the other night. Figured it'd be a good film since I've heard it's a decent film, and from his angle it's Formula 1 which he's into (did mean he knew most of the main story beats since it's biopic). One thing I'd not noticed when it first popped up a few years back is the other guy is Daniel Bruce (of Inglorious Bastetds and Civil War). It is a petty good film, it flows quite well, and some really nice shots. I quite liked the bits when it showed from the drivers view with the kind of tunnel vision . Both the main guys come across as arseholes, though that's largely par for the course I think for a majority of drivers. God's gift to the track n all that lot. It's played quite well. Oh n it has Natalie Dormer fully in the nudge within a few minutes of the start so there's that.
  4. Especially given they target their consoles and games at kids, who usually don't have access to a smartphone.
  5. Hey it's Dean with another video about the use of digital VFX in films. Quite interesting to compare stuff like the use of CG blood in Fincher films with like the use of gallons and gallons of faux blood in Alien Covenant from Ridley Scott. Obviously down to how these two started out (as noted in the vid Fincher is ILM alumni). Film vs digital, practical vs CG, the ever ongoing war within the film industry (one is going to largely win out primarily based on cost, especially in film v digital. You need quite a few films in your belt before you're going to be let loose with miles of film). Also harks bad to the video from last year about people only disliking bad CGI, and ignoring the vast majority of CG in films as it's actually pretty seamless (one of my faves is the CG sheep in Brokeback Mountain, a film you wouldn't think of as having a VFX budget). In other news I've realised I've quite a big David Fincher backlog.
  6. Ah that's a bit sucky. She is pretty good but yeah being funky behind scenes, especially on Who can lead to being dropped (see Eccleston). Be weird to be giving acting lessons given IMDB shows her only having two other roles prior to Who, whereas he's been around for decades.
  7. This has a pretty dang good cast Also the above is "introducing Daniel Craig" on the above is weird when he's been in a ton of films. Certainly looks pretty fun though.
  8. Based on a news report other day with politics in NI post-brexit n such they might want to get wrapped up on that kinda quick
  9. Beauty & The Beast (Live Action) Watched this with my mum n sisters. Nothing terrible, nothing really special but better than I expected. My only major issue is that Luke Evans is a terrible Gaston, mainly in physique which is a big part of the character. Beast could have been more grotesque, Belleville is alright, Maurice was pretty great. It's weird that you feel for most part of it that it retreads stuff with many elements and songs but also dislike it when it puts in new songs (some plot elements, such as the advanced age of the Prince was welcome change given original he's like 12). As for Alien Covenant yeah seen the RLM vid, and seems to ring with a lot of reviews that the characters are idiots and it kinda screws with the lore.
  10. The Nintendo games I've played so far have terrible beginnings especially with having you agree to t&cs and eulas then sign into Nintendo account, then, and only a maybe then, you can play the game.
  11. It's hardly like armed cults and fundamental Christians are only a thing from the last year.
  12. I want to get Primal at some point, it looks like a pretty game, though not totally up for paying much for a neolithic reskin of Far Cry 4.
  13. Yeah seems it was more of a 24hr ban, mainly to send a message without completely compromising the usefulness of intelligence sharing. Bit of a shit show from the US front (and May ain't happy as it provides ammo for people to question wisdom of data sharing). In "funner" news pretty much everyone in the UK over last couple days has gotten a text from their network pointing out they get free roaming across the EU from next month. So one to add to the "what did the EU ever do for us?" pile.
  14. This has been powering my day as I power through my to-do list
  15. Wasn't someone on here interested in drone photography? DJI (pretty much the defacto leaders on that dront) have a new "low-end" option out

    Only £500.

  16. It's hot guys. It's gotten too hot too fast. I am not prepared. Already had the fun "oh yeah, warm weather means more water" headache yesterday. I can see a large blue thing above me. It's unnatural!
  17. Yeeha. Killing white american Christians. It's actually kinda funny that people have been calling it unpatriotic. It's made by a Canadian studio owned by a French company. It'll be interesting to see if it's just Far Cry 3/4 placed in USA or if they'll have maybe a bit more to it, some modernisations based on more recent open world developments rather than the usual "radio tower map unlocks" expected atm from Ubisoft open-world games. (IIRC with W_D2 there is no towers to unlock, you just drive by places and hey you get a fast travel point). They also have some character trailers too.
  18. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-40040210 US is leaking UK intelligence, so police are stopping sharing info on the Manchester attacks with US. Really leans into the whole "why would we share intelligence with US when it'll be on trumps twitter feed the next day" fears.
  19. The bit you're at in the book I've a strong feeling we're not going to get this series. I probably need to re-read book cos I can't remember if that's before or after Laketown. IIRC regarding Laura the book kinda covers it in that being dead she's not really got any of the bodily functions of hormones and such keeping her emotional so she is "dead inside" as it were, and she is sort of both super-fixated on Shadow (which I think the show did a good job in showing) and also sort of resents him in bringing her back. A wee preview of next weeks episode.
  20. This was a pretty good video looking at All-Star Superman. Regarded as one of the better Superman stories. I should give a re-read at somepoint. Got the DC 1Million stuff lined up too though not sure there's much to that.

    KITTEH <3

The OG kitteh has turned 10.
  22. "Enemies to the east of me, Enemies to the west of me. Here I am, stuck here in the middle with you"
  23. Unfortunately 60 seconds in reminds me of this which greatly reduced levity of the trailer. also
  24. Bonus of youtube comments is someone has usually worked out what that music is. Turns out it's an instrumental cover of Gangstas Paradise. As you do.
