  1. Barely a week passes since leaving a union that has been peaceful for decades after centuries of conflict and... Also wanting to spend £500million on changing the colour of passports. Leave voters must be fuming at that, it's clearly money that could be better spent on the NHS. Also calls for pre-decimalisation currency. Oh and the death penalty and for some reason incandescent bulbs It really hammers home the whole "most of the folks who voted to leave the EU will be dead by the time we've formally left". I'm surprised (and sickened) there's such a large following for bringing back capital punishment. We should probably put lead back into the petrol, and get rid of the internet, probably do re-runs of "Hiel Honey, I'm Home", get rid of renewable energy, make all our phones have different charging ports again. The good old days!
  2. A lot more explosive than I would have thought.
  3. I really want some of this Scheunwan dipping sauce. Also yeah considering there was a "how is he gonna get out of this" that was fucking crammed for a 20 minute episode. Also I guess it's up in the air if all of that flashback was fake or not.
  4. @Cowboy Danger Poet Yes you should have been able to report all the time. I know at least some of you have reported when we've had spammers pop up. Please don't abuse it though. @Mal Actually looking into it, it seems editing quotes is now harder than it used to be, you certainly used to be able to quote fictional folks with the 'name="abraham lincoln"'. I suspect it has been changed because it could also easily be abused to misattribute quotes (though as you'll note if you're quoting a forum members post it'll still link to their original so hey). The "Source" is also different here, showing almost raw HTML rather than BBcode of the old place (mainly because this is a new 3rd party editor). IIRC you could also do partial quotes too, though not with the handy pop-up.
  5. Has been doing the rounds. Will need subtitles on mind.
  6. Oooh. Was just recommending a couple channels the other day to my geek group. I've got pretty similar to you but I'll add some others: - Kurzgesagt – In a Nutshell: So these were who I was recommending since we were playing Timeline and I actually new a bunch of the dates from their recent "Human History" video. They're well animated, with some nice pop culture easter eggs, albeit somewhat biased, informative videos on a bunch of topics on science and politics (and the overlap). - The Tommy Edison Experience: I started following this guy back when he was "Blind Film Critic", which he still does now and then. A pretty upbeat and funny guy talks about his life and day to day experiences as a blind guy. He answers questions, does challenges (e.g drawing, lego building, guessing 3D printed objects etc). Some things you don't wholly think about. e.g him using Instagram. (oh they all have "post credit" bits btw, but the credits is like two people so you'd have to be quick on the close button to not see them) - Ahoy: So I'm pretty sure the guy who narrates these does narration for like "How it's made" n other Discovery type stuff. Anyway it's a video game channel. Mostly of late covering weapons in video games in both how they are historically important IRL and how they implemented in video games in story and mechanics. They're pretty well made videos, like you could see them being on Discovery for example (which once again, the voice really helps sell that). - No Small Parts: A film related one (I follow many). This one looks at actors themselves, specifically character actors (though a couple have lead roles). They're well done mini-documentaries, and heck he had Crispin Glover even ring up and thank him for the video on him so that's cool. My fave is his one on Vincent Schiavelli, which gives a clue into how in-depth he goes with his research. He's also done a few shorter ones for IMDB, mainly around more popular franchises (i.e Star Wars, GoT and Westworld). - Kaptainkristian: Similar to Nerdwriter I guess. Covers a chunk of pop culture stuff in neat ways, and a lot of it focused around 90's pop culture so all quite appealing to our demographic. Far few others, as mentioned mostly film but I imagine many of you already have the likes of Every Frame a Painting and what not in your sub list, and likely don't care too much to follow ILM and Imageworks and such for breakdowns. I'll throw out PS Access I guess since they're decent to follow for their weekly release stuff if you're wanting a quick way to keep up with what's out on PS4, and Robs lists are kinda fun too with their little in-jokes n what not. The odd lets plays too to follow. Oh and PSVR footage which I don't follow but might appeal to those of you with one. I will add that it's a bit unfair to list Cinefix as "top 10 lists" as that's kind of the stuff you get with lower effort channels. Their's is a bit more thought out and explains the film process a bit more. And rarely actually 10 so no strained lists. Also not quite "top 10" either as many are just "6 examples of silence" rather than "the best use of silence".
  7. Holy shit that's advanced a lot since I was on yesterday. There was a smallish segment of rainbow flag, a sort of shadow of a penis in the centre, and the "blue corner" was much smaller smaller, and not invaded by purple. Oh there was also a start of a Mario pixel art, just the head and shoulders at the time and that was kind of it for pixel art. (which browsing, it's just to the south east of Ness. I'm actually quite surprised that given how Reddit can be at times that not only the Rainbow flag expanded, but there's a giant trans flag running through the full thing too. Man it's pretty cool compared to usual Reddit stuff. edit:
  8. It's due to it being set to "unlimited" by default, I changed the value mainly because it covers all content which includes embedded images and such. If someone put in a multi-megapixel image it'd take as much space as it could. So while the bigger youtube embeds look a bit nicer, it's an offset of things just being a bit too huge. I'll slowly add in here some of the new features. - One being that you can now use @ handles to tag someone in a post. - As Mal noted you can jsut paste a URL and it'll auto-embed most media. This unfortunately doesn't include Imgur per-se (if you embed a page link it'll embed that though) - Technically you can now get email digests. Though that's if this place decides it likes sending out emails (it's a bit hit and miss but my test went fine yesterday and maybe some of you got emails about the forum upgrade?) - We no longer GNU Terry Pratchett but I'm gonna fix that - Tapatalk isn't enabled atm but that's highish on my list - You can make custom content streams and set them as default (there's a little faded out tick next to the stream title) - There's a basic Dark Theme if you want to use that. - Oh in a soonish update (we're on 4.1, 4.2 is coming soon) the "Like" will change much like FB has to "Reactions" which I feel might amuse some of you. -I've also stuck links on the top bar for the Discord and Patreon too(hint hint) - I'm gonna get around to sorting the Emoticons out since I can set "Categories". - The old subtitles thing were put in with a plug-in, and obviously the creator noticed they were popular cos the version 4 plug-in is $7. It's on my list, but lowish down. - You can set cover photos on your profiles - You can "Follow" people, means you'll get notifications when they make posts or updates and such. - Another plug-in that I'm likely to reinstall is the Steam support.
  9. Assassins Creed So being a fan of the series I understand a lot of the nuance that was going on, but I can understand that people wouldn't be totally into it if this film is their only exposure to it. It's otherwise quite okay, held up by the actors rather than any script they have to work with. My biggest beef with the film is: They are in a facility they are populating with minimally guarded Assassins that through the animus they're essentially training them, and make a note of this in case to Fassbender. However they also leave lying around (and in Fassbenders case actively give him) Assassin weapons including grenades and bows and shit (incidentally the guards also have crossbows for some reason, I'd guess cos they're silent and they're in a city area?). On the writing front as well the Abstergos side is pretty much presented as pure bad guy stuff, yet I think they could have easily made them more "relatable" (as the games have had a crack at making it). It sucks cos Jeremy Irons is a great actor who has a habit of popping up in quite crap films, especially last year in both AC and BvS. They also under utilise Brendan Gleeson too, like they could have had a no-name for the role they had him in. The animus itself was pretty great though, loved the design and felt it was much better, for the sake of a film, than the usual chair we have in the games. I felt the holograms could have maybe been a bit more saturated though, made it hard to figure out "oh hey he's chatting with his mum". And I appreciate their use of spanish in the film too, where they could have easily had it all in English and be "oh yeah the Animus translates on the fly", which iirc is the handwave in the games (despite the odd bit of actual italian or what not showing up). The stunts were all pretty great, though bits of the spanish side were quite forgettable and cliche. It's unlikely to get a sequel, though I'd say it kinda stands on its own, which is a bit of a shame as I feel the AC franchise would work quite well from a film perspective and they had a lot of the jigsaw pieces in place here, just bits of the plot were a tad lazy.
  10. I'm similar boat as Ethan, I'd likely jump to PC primarily because that's where most of my gaming is and usually PC games are much cheaper. But also in the "probably won't pick it up unless something vastly appealed to me in it"
  11. Looks kinda nifty. I'm pretty sure we know their inspiration for this. Obviously needs a fair bit of work mind. The textures especially.
  12. The title is pretty pretty. Though seems a bit more focused on Technology than the other new gods. Though a cool mix of the old and the new. btw anyone else read the book apart from @SomTervo (he recommended me the book in the first place).
  13. This is a pretty cool short film about the "Generator" project that went to the Arctic with Cmdr Hadfield last year. Some nice shots from it (which as the film notes, scored them more nice shots from the helicopter guys).
  14. Ah yes the "Scarlet Witch & Black Widow" film that came out last year, I forgot about that.
  15. Oh yeah a biggy;
Use your "Display Name" or Email to login. There's no "username" anymore.

  16. Well at least they've included a (hamfisted) reason for why all your Destiny 1 gear gets scrapped. And always nice to have a bit more Lance Reddick. Seems they're playing up Cayde a lot though, not 100% sure if I'm keen on it. Also the box art is out and as I've mentioned on Twitter it has three figures on the front and they're all human despite their being three playable races
  17. So the news is that Joss Whedon has signed on to do a Batgirl film for DC. http://variety.com/2017/film/news/batgirl-movie-joss-whedon-warner-bros-1202018544/ Of course at the moment there's nothing actually greenlit n such, so it might not go ahead and it seems it might rely on Wonder Woman reception. It does mean that DC have at least one area beat on Marvel and that's female superhero films (though Ms Marvel is due some point).
  18. This looks pretty sweet. Kinda hoping this is the final film though, be a decent trilogy.
  19. Be gentle, it's still updating and running "rebuild" tasks.

  20. A lot of the powers are certainly similar to Dishonored, not that I mind much. I quite like the idea that a side effect of taking on more alien powers is you get seen as an alien by the stations defence systems. And a video showing the mixing up of some powers and weapons. Watching this it'd seem that some of the alien abilities are replicated in weapon form so I guess you can either have it as a power or taking up a weapon slot.
  21. Aaaaaahhhhhh... Because the world is round it turns me on Because the world is round, ah Because the wind is high it blows my mind Because the wind is high, ah Fifth Element is one of my fave films, I just love the aesthetics of it and this seems like it'll be a treat in that regard. I just have to remember Professional and Fifth Element and try n push Lucy from my mind.
  22. On the Twitter front I've had a nosy around and tbh can't find any actual "mocking" tweets, just people saying they're mocking folks on twitter. No links, no screenshots, nothing. Seems to be just hearsay. This seems to be the closest: https://twitter.com/PlaytonicGames/status/845337144801591298
