  1. Crytek UK are announcing a new project at E3. I can't for the life of me think what they could announce that people "will be very happy about"

  2. Well if it's quite long what I'll see sites like MCV do quite often is post the interview then post up like an article piece/summary taking some of the quotes and providing a snippet of info then a "full interview here" at the end. e.g http://www.mcvuk.com/news/42278/Sony-talks-future-handheld-innovation http://www.mcvuk.com/features/831/INTERVIEW-Sony
  3. There has been no attempt made on biowares part to sway my opinion that I was right in skipping this game on day one. Many times the opposite.

    Pets!

Well it's not me taking a dig, I'll have to manually look in the morning, forum search dislikes the word "pet" (too short)

    Pets!

Didn't we have a dedicated pet thread or am I imagining things?
  6. Well yes of course folks can and will remember things many years down the line, employees and random folks you met on the net can't crack open their skull and fish through their knowledge of you. And yeah it's not necessarily silly things, but there could be more serious stuff. Take for instance the stuff in the japan-pearl harbour thread. You could grow up and change your mind on the whole matter, what you said is still potentially saved forever (even if you remove your facebook comment the images and copy pastes and lamebooks etc will have a fair chunk on their own servers.) and that's not really stuff you might want to catch up with you in the future when applying for a job at some Japanese megacorp.
  7. http://www.infamousthegame.com/country-selector.html Supposedly you can hop onto the site and sign up for the level creator beta. I have a feeling looking at the GB site that it's a US/NA only thing....
  8. Yeah Thursday that's pretty old trailer. Anywho how to tell it's PAX and that Portal 2 is out in a month: http://www.vg247.com/2011/03/14/wolpaw-players-dont-care-about-portals-chell/ Piece on how while most folks don't care for Chell or even really know who you play as, they are put off by Glados recognising you as a new character. I'd imagine that's what lead to the new ending for Portal http://www.escapistmagazine.com/news/view/108449-Portal-2s-Writer-Didnt-Try-to-Reinvent-the-Cake (the video is just a trimmed co-op trailer) As I kinda assumed (I guess others assumed differently) they're not planning to put in any forced memes. I hope folks won't put it as a bad mark if this doesn't spawn a new "cake is a lie". Not gonna bother getting an article but J.K Simmons of J.Jonah.Jameson fame is playing Cave Johnson, the head of Aperture Science, and your kinda-glados guide for the testing stages. Oh and there's this which I'm not watching: First few minutes, couple of puzzles and some of J.K Simmons VA.
  9. Yar. I'm bummed on missing quite a few. The real reason is that fuck all anyone goes to the cinema. My sister got a year pass, but never invites her big bruvver along.
  10. I haven't been to the Cinema for many many months. I can't think of why.
  11. So this is a movement/concept you may or may not have heard of. The bare bones is this idea that you should be allowed to just say "I don't want my information on the net". That time when you were an avid wow player, maybe you don't want that to be dug up any more, or you want your info wiped off facebook. It's both a reset button for your digital persona and a crude emulation of human memory. e.g your sister probably forgets that time when you put glue in her hair, but the internet remembers forever. That time you got wasted, stole a few shopping trolleys and put it up on facebook and twitpic. And then it maybe passed on a bit through other folks networks, etc. That stupid teenage stunt will potentially be with you till you die. It's something the EU has played with a bit in maybe adding it to upcoming privacy regulations, the problem is what do you add in specifically and the various implications as well as the practically of enforcement. You can read up a bit on the various implications here http://peterfleischer.blogspot.com/2011/03/foggy-thinking-about-right-to-oblivion.html and here http://www.internetevolution.com/author.asp?section_id=1047&doc_id=204757& Personally I think it's an interesting topic, not yet decided on my thoughts on the matter though. I can see how daunting the technical implications could be, but I can also see issues in 10-20 years down the line where all the silly things you did now are just a google search away, saved for posterity. Of course one solution would be to not do stupid things online, but that's easier said than done. And also personas are recyclable, you could potentially wipe the slate clean and move on to a new identity. Though harder with facebook and the like, but easier on places like here where you just go for a new name. Thoughts?
  12. Not just Bioware who do that, but your thing reminded me of it. Strange has it right, there's rarely any incentive to do it. Come on, it's not like Bioware will never ever release those screenshots if folks don't retweet enough. Chances are they an't count anyway (though they may be able to, I've not looked into any of the high end twitter clients) @Strange: You should be able to delete those yourself btw.

Yeah I'm in the camp "this will happen, Ice Ages come many times we're due one soon, just maybe not this soon" camp. In fact regarding Ice Ages iirc we're actually still in one. Though I think it was more of a retarded definition that meant that was the case due to the caps being coated in snow still. I still think, regardless of the overall impact on the more gigantic natural forces in action, that attempting to reduce our environmental impact and reduce our consumption of fossil fuels and toxic resources is a noble and worthy cause. Of course it is something only the more developed nations can really partake in since the mid-way point nations kinda at the stage where they still heavily rely on stuff like that.
  14. Oh not trying to elevate FFXIII, just highlighting how many (review) folks don't seem to be giving the game as much a hard time on similar issues. (heck not even FFXIII but XII too, both DA:O n DA2 both have the same gameplay that XII was torn apart for at release )
  15. So I've generally been skimming stuff, not wanting to dip in too much until I pick it up myself, but from what I can gather the character focused method used this time has kinda backfired to the point where the game alienates you to the point where you're kinda going "what the fuck is going on". not too great in an RPG. http://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2011/03/14/wit-the-opening-hours-of-dragon-age-ii - this isn't their review, merely a run up to the review (they tend to do them) I'll say from my time in the demo I really disliked the convo options given, seems I wasn't the only one. Kind of a bummer that the demo is the start of the game, I could of done with a bit of a run up on family members. Funny thing is, I remember another RPG coming out last march that had similar issues in an iffy start up and annoying characters and that was torn limb to limb over it. Seems if your game is rushed instead of late by a fair few years you get let off the hook.
  16. "Advertise for us..sorry I mean Retweet this and we'll do something" No, we'll retweet if it's a good tweet, not to shave cash off your marketing budget. Retweet it your fucking self.

Memento was the first one up for me. I've only seen about half the film, but there's something about it that ingrains the polaroid as part of the film.....http://www.christophernolan.net/images/memento_poster.jpg

      toxicitizen

Yeah I played a bit before class and Mememto was among the ones I got instantly.

My overall ratio was more like 1:2, though :/ Didn't have time to finish, might start over later.

It turns out you can see the whole polaroid for Memento, but thanks to the angle of my screen the first time I saw it all I saw was a black square. Derp.

  20. http://e.nikkei.com/e/fr/tnks/Nni20110313D13JFF08.htm From Monday they're going to start running rolling black outs. They say that come summer they won't be able to meet power demands regardless of getting all powerplants back online in time. Also many major industries are shutting down to conserve power. I think financially it's the lack of power and having to close places of work that'll hit Japan the hardest.

Well for Daily Mail I think my favourite quote is: Pretty much sums them up. http://www.badscience.net/2010/10/the-caveat-in-paragraph-number-19/ (Was linked to that article as part of something on the Daily Mail running an article on the "supermoon") My fave is Wi-Fi sensitive people. The ones who are only affected by Wi-Fi sources they're told about. Whether the Wi-Fi is there or not. My non-fave is the MMR + Autism stuff. Even more so with the recent stuff coming out on it. http://www.guardian.co.uk/society/2010/jan/28/andrew-wakefield-mmr-vaccine Absolutely disgusting and a massive abuse of his position. I believe there's an American woman in a similar situation, there is a website counting all the death her recommendations have caused due to unvacinated kids. Anyone know what I'm trying to vaguely grasp at? As for Discovery I mostly watch it for How it's Made/How Stuff Works and Mythbusters. Turns out the first 2 are on Freeview now My main source of "educational TV" is Horizon and at the moment the Brian Cox "Wonders of the Universe". Horizon is kinda okay. Depends what they're covering, but they will sometimes do the doom and gloom thing.
  23. You guys are further in B&W than I am in Pearl :/
