  1. Ah right. That was more aimed at the engine. Few folks were like "new engine!" then look at screens and go "OMG it's absolutely beautiful" and I'm just saying, it's not changed that much. Still unsure if it's not Gamebryo/gamebryo-based yet. And tbh the screens weren't like "OMG So much improvement" they were about on-par. About the only major improvement in terms of looks is the humans. And we've yet to see any other race.
  2. Well I'm pretty damn sure the PC version is in HD anyway
  3. I'm surprised! You seemed pretty down on Skyrim in the ES5 thread. Wait, what?

Not really much of a friend if they go organizing weddings during game expos. How inconsiderate can you get? Anyway, I reckon there is about a dozen of us from the fair British Isles. (Few more if folks are up for crossing the Irish sea) If there was some kind of meet up it'd rock and definitely be worth going. edit: actually lets work this one out: Myself, Hottie, Thursday, WhatTheFrag, Octane, SFLegend, Dave Strife, Kenshi, Gerbil. Then across the sea, Jayc4life, Excel, MasterDex. Okay maybe that Dozen was including the Irish. And I swear I must be missing people. (especially ones who haven't let their nationality be known) edit2: Moose
  5. Yeah but you're biased. My most anticipated is Skyrim. I think what's killing it currently for a lot of games for me is atm I don't have any time for upcoming ones, or the time to really devote to looking over every snippet like I used to. That and I'm kinda just off games media a fair bit, and that's the main source for news on games. There's only so many mainstream games I'm fussed for, and that's where all the coverage is. There's quite often when I'll pop into Grainger or GAME or whatever look at a shelf and go "I have no fucking idea what half these games are". And some look pretty good. So maybe somewhere out there is a game I'm really anticipating, I just don't know of it's existence yet.
  6. Check the Steam chat thread
  7. If it plays like Caesar it'll be enjoyable. Can't knock a free game.
  8. Yeah I'm sure it's optional.
  9. It has a dot thing in the middle that is meant to negate motion sickness. As long as you're not glancing about while playing you should be fine. I also think the size of the screen plays a part in it too.
  10. Well I got this in my inbox this morning: "Dear Customer Newsflash: America Has Fallen Into Korean Hands...and we need YOU to save the day!" I tweeted it with a "Well looks like they're fucked then. Sorry dudes." The whole purpose of the game seems to be going for the controversy angle. Thing is it doesn't really work for any country other than the US. I don't see anything at all in it that is meant to get me excited or even interested in the game.

    Trade Shows

http://www.eurogamer.net/expo/ Tickets are now up. They're on cheap till 1st June. £8 per day. Certainly affordable. I'm unsure if I'd be able to go, but I wouldn't mind going. I'd have to plan in for a weekend though, no idea what I'll be doing in September. Might even be in London.
  12. Just curious, anyone sharing this site, like over on kotaku. Or has everyone left? :P

I left permanently. I don't even bother clicking on the links for their stories anymore, I just go look it up somewhere else.

I think most have moved on. But if anyone knows any folks specific and can get a hold of them it's always worthwhile. I tried a bit before the change.

I'm still around in ca. or uk.

TAY there is only 200-300 comments now, Wanderer already banned, Toasty get unstarred when he try to calm down an angry user and giving address to ca. and uk. sites and leave angry, Beefy still around, and some still stay around, but not much.

Found a troll with a star, SpeakUp doesn't really that fun anymore, and there's less comments all over the articles.

  13. You're looking at the results wrong The top chart has a ton of current and popular systems, the bottom one not so much. So the 360 is 25% of the bottom poll, PS3 only 10% of the top polls. Personally I'd of made these two completely separate polls (on old place they were split as three on Current consoles, retro and handhelds, which would of made it much easier to read the results from) What you need to look at is the actual count: 360 = 30 PS3 = 35 Wii = 27 PS3 is out top of the three. PC kicking everythings butt at 41
  14. Certainly looks really good. Definitely running the PC version in that one (Not like there would be much difference in other unnamed shooters.) I'm more interested in the MP. Modern military FPS games are all a bit meh to me. Even though MoH had a good story compared to COD and I have a feeling BF3 will follow suit, I just think there's only so much you can do with it.
  15. It sucks cos the games with local co-op this gen you can count on Anne Boleyns fingers. LBP(2) is the go to game I'd say for co-op, but be aware that the life system sucks. (maybe changed in 2, not yet played it, but it gives you 3 lives, no matter how many are playing) RagDoll Kung-Fu as far as I'm aware is free, that's kind of a whacky game to play. Worms is always a good call, pretty fun. Just make sure it's a 2D one.
  16. We're 3.1 :/ Still I'm sure there's a few threads without the need to scroll
  17. I've heard quite a fair bit on unity (I guess my habit of reading the sites that aren't aimed at people buying the games They port to Android now, just not long ago upgraded the engine, got some neat lighting stuff and it's cross-platform across all major PC OSes, and now iOS n Android (not sure on Win Phone 7 support) It seems a pretty good engine. I'd say it's a case of downloading both UDK n Unity and playing about until you find one that suits your needs. UDK will probably have better documentation.
  18. He's defiently not IE6. Excel is the guy who started up the "What Browser do you use" and preceding 15-or-so reply status updated. Edit: Firstly read this: http://en.wikipedia....ki/Content_farm Sound familiar? Then read this: http://www.pcworld.c...tent_farms.html p.s I'd follow that link for the Chrome Extension.

You read the article? You buy the game get a random pack, then you can buy booster packs n such if you want, they're planning on having in other methods of acquiring cards like winning them from other players (optional). Which does make me much less of a fan. I'm the kind of guy who likes to buy the game, and that's it. Not so keen on DLC. Especially micro-transactions.
  20. Oh on the bad review thing that was directed at Notchs wording. They're mostly aiming for the casual crowd. If you can make it easier to buy the game than pirate it, and provide a better service than just supplying the free game, then you can draw folks over. It's how steam works. It's much much easier to buy a game on steam than pirate it. You click buy, hit next a few times, wait for it to download then click it to play it. Minecraft is just as pain free (though depends if you're set up on Paypal or not), and if you bought the game it provided the ability to save your games on the site. Something a pirated version doesn't have. (because buying it nets you a minecraft account). I do think he'll have issues if he tries to make the beta guys pay though. If you look in software, as in like actual programs n such, they'll tend to run a free version, or non commerical version. Then if you want it for business use, priority updates and direct support you buy it. Games need to kind of look into that model. Angry Birds on iPhone, sells for 60p and they've been continually adding to it. Massive seller. Provide a high value product and people will generally buy your game. You sell your game for $60 and the consumer decides it's most likely worth $20, well the closest price to that is the $0 pirated version. And in regards to the final bit, this is the same philosophy Gabe Newell has on pirates and he's one of the most successful guys in gaming. (If not the most successful, I don't even think Kotick is worth $2billion+) So I don't think that his relatively recency to notability makes what he says any less worthy. Also I'm tired so not writing this as well as I'd normally hope to. probably even repeated words a few times.
  21. Okay for the lulz I popped over to kotaku and had a quick scan. Do these guys know it's GDC? But yeah looking at the stuff I've been going through the past few days and kotaku, it's like it's in it's own little time-space bubble.
  22. Don't charge $60 is always a good idea. And as he mention, just add more content and services to it than the pirated version can offer. And I think he point was more than a negative review (a 'bad' review is a badly written) generally results in low sales too. So it was more about not focusing on the bad, and at least not lumping all the lost sales on one scapegoat as there's plenty of factors that knock down sales. And social networking and not so much PR (which more deals with media these days that the actual customers) is sort of what he's talking about. Most devs just use social networking like facebook n twitter to advertise "here's what gamebloggu had to say on how awesome Brink is" etc. And then you the gamer retweet and advertise it on. They don't much engage. And I don't think that's a piracy thing as so much something they should do anyway.
  23. Okay in reading them the past week or so this is one of my fave quirks to No High Scores http://nohighscores.com/node/129 The post full Press Releases, but de-hyperbolized. heh
