    Guild Wars

http://www.guildwars2.com/en/ Developer: ArenaNet Publisher: NCsoft Release Date: TBA So this is an MMO I'm kind of looking forward to getting into when it releases. I've heard good things on the first, like the visual style. Maybe a bit too late to get in on that. I'd say the main draw is the pricing structure, pay once, free forever after. I think that'd suit my kind of drop in drop out style. I'd love the same model on EVE, not up for signing back up for a month or so sub when I may only play for a few hours that week then drop off. Good system to have for when there's the drops in game releases at certain points of the year.
  2. So Human Revolution hits later this year. I was gifted (I think via request) the GOTy eidtion with the first 2 in from Ethan over Xmas. So I've slowly worked my way through Deus Ex the past few weeks. Only like 7 hours in at an airport (I checked FLD) Anyone else got any experience with this game, hopes for the sequel?
  3. It's more a "fuzzy photograph" than "screenshot" but yeah saw it on RPS this morning. I've played neither though I've recently tried to. I acquired Deadly Shadows. Turns out it doesn't run on 64-bit OSes or something (see that's why you do that first). I'm miffed cos in first year we had a random copy of Thief (I think second one, metal age?) appeared in the kitchen/common area and it was just sort of there. End of year in packing up it turned out it was none of ours so went up for grabs. It ended up getting tossed. I've heard good things on the series, so yeah I'll be looking forward to that. Thanks for the reminder on Deus Ex. btw do we know it's Multi-plat?

Huge side fan, but that is one uuugllly case.

  6. Amazed no one's updated here http://www.findmakarov.com/ Supposedly it counts down to GDC next week for a potential first look. I'm somewhat suspicious since it's hosted on tucows, and all other Activision n COD related sites through markmonitor and registered to Activision. Maybe it's common practice to host some of your sites randomly away from the rest, but I'm not thinking that's the case.
  7. http://news.discovery.com/tech/money-tracker-cash-transistor-110224.html transistors that'll fit on money, making money easy to track. I don't see why we can't just fully move over to plastic.
  8. Yeah I've heard of them They do post rumours http://gamrfeed.vgch...ative-gameplay/ (Since I'm unsure if you were around then, check the source on that. Others should recognise the link right away)
  9. Installing Darkspore. I can't say much more than that...but when I can I will :P

I got one too, kind of out of nowhere. Gonna have to check it out eventually. I've heard some really positive previews, though.

      Maritan

I was pretty disappointed by beta. Plays like a boring Diablo clone. I don't think the game will sell well, it's just not fun to play.

I'm on patch file 2/5. It's 2.7GB. Hope the rest are like the first 12MB file.

  10. I'd take it as a judgement call. The reliability of the site with the rumour, how possible it is, the evidence given. If you know the source directly, go right ahead.

Can some explain to me why they get a badass animated X-Men and we get Wolverine and the X-kiddies?

  11. There... I've made the title more appropriate now
  12. I'll make a thread for it later.
  13. Golden Delicious. And don't judge else they be judge....aka post an image yourself
  14. So what does your gaming area look like? Nice n neat with a sofa in the middle. dinky dark area with towers of empty energy drink cans against the wall. Here's mine There's a mini-fridge next to the PS3 I keep topped up with water. Top shelf is games/Blu-Rays, middle for movies n bottom for books. I need a bigger shelf

    Your Rig

How did we not have this? Anyway post your rig. (maybe pictures too) I'm currently on a pre-built system (a series of unfortunate, and semi-fortunate events lead to a time where I had more money than time and sense.) Win 7 Pro 64-bit Intel Core2Quad Q6600 @ 2.4ghz 6GB DDR2 RAM (dunno mhz, but I think it's low) Nvidia 9600GT 512mb 2x 1TB HDD Blu-Ray drive TV tuner card Wi-Fi card And this is where I'm aiming at for my summer rig. Going to move onto something more flexible that should be my last whole PC purchase for a while. My old rig that I eventually managed to recover and fix is still in working order (no thanks to my housemate currently using it. Fuck I removed a lot of cack from it's fans yesterday): Intel Quad Q6600 2GB RAM (was a massive amount back then 500GB HDD Nvidia 8800GTS 330MB fancy case fans.
  16. I've thrown up a TF2 trading section, and a post up, on the Classifieds section if anyone is interested.
  17. Snap on the last two. Didn't play the MP but MoH SP campaign was enjoyable. Last Remnant I managed to work my way in a decent amount, but the keyboard stuff started to suck. Finally got a 360 pad but yet to boot it p again. It's one of my first games of summer.
  18. The 360 has the XNA and Indie Games. Isn't that what all the people who are actually interested in developing for the 360 would want? The PS3 had OtherOS. Shouldn't that of done for what the homebrew folks wanted? N XNA is for game dev. Hardly going to let you do things with the 360 it's not meant to be able to do like play youtube video or run a browser or something. That's cos GeoHot is a face folks can stick a story to, and he really helps with that. Like Assange/Wikileaks, Anon/Anon, Colon Sanders/KFC etc.
  19. I'm currently playing through the first one (for first time) since I've heard it's one of those games you have to play. I'm at some rooftop about 7 hours into the game with a bunch of those bots around, cameras attached to guns and no EMP grenades.
  20. Just a quick look about suggests mygamercard.net got taken down.

  21. I think your 5% is a huge overestimate. I'd whack as many decimal points on that too. I think part of the reason it stopped was because: 1. Much less folks forwarded stuff (partly contributed with banning a decent chunk of the folks who used to regularly post) 2. Folks started to forward them things with a anti-kotaku slant on it. 3. He doesn't give a shit on it anymore. 4. a mix of all of the above.
  22. I was replying to Flying Gerbils "stupid question". I'm with RockyRan. Sony actively went out and included an OtherOS option to facilitate homebrew. They did similar with Yahtzee for PSone and the Linux powered PS2 (even without the Linux version the PS2 launched with a disc that had coding tools to make simple programs and games with). It's not like Sony is actively anti-homebrew. Don't see any other console officially running a regular OS. And pretty much no one used it. Uni's n scientists pretty much (and I'm unsure if that's even running through OtherOS or a PS3 completely free of XMB FW altogether). If people wanted more of the machines power (which the extra SPE is even locked off from regular developers) to mess with, why they picking a system with 256MB of RAM? Homebrew is working with what you've got, rather than the easier n more obvious solution of making it on the open PC. There was, and still is, very little need to fully crack open the PS3. The crack was pretty much developed for piracy. He's not a fucking retard, he knows that that's what it would be used for. As I mentioned here or another thread it's a bit weird how the 360 has a thing you can do with it's DVD drive to make it play pirated games, and no one has really looked at it to crack open the software onboard. Stick a web browser on, better twitter client. PS3 comes with an option at launch to let you run a linux OS and the software that comes with that. And it then gets cracked open too. It's pretty clear that homebrew is a flimsy shield from which folks like GeoHot hide behind. Now thing here is we get taught UK computer law, and as I understand ours is a bit more refined than the US. And also differs in a few areas. I'm unsure which areas though, so in regards to this it may be the same. Here it's okay to mod your consoles. It is not okay to modify someone elses console. It is not okay to reverse engineer or bypass a security system put in place. Now not only did he reverse engineer n bypass the security systems n such in place, he distributed it. (which also tends to come under copyright infringement laws too if you're a smart lawyer. Maybe some on patents too)
