  1. It's not a huge amount but here's a small selection of a few: http://www.dropbox.c...graphy?h=5b94cb I've got some images I like that have some photographic merit, buuut aren't much fancy and mostly just thought out "day out" snaps. As for phoebe, I was quite impressed to. I like the horse one. For the most part she just liked running around my grans garden n taking photos of things. On second thought I think Niomi (the 7 year old) may of taken a few. Cos that's Phoebe opening the gate I think Niomi will of taken the photos of the engines at the end. Phobe for the flowers.
  2. Argle bargle accidentally hit F5 while typing. I'm not too into photography. I like doing it though. I know the rules n terms, law of thirds, aperture, f-stop, prime/zoom, white balance etc. You need to as most of it ties with film cameras too. My current weapon of choice is my phone camera, which is low quality but since it's always on me I get the most pictures with, and an old point-n-shoot I got 4-5 years back for college. It's rocking a massive 5 megapixels, it has knobs n dials, which I love as most don't come with stuff like that these days, all on-screen menus, and has a Leica like aesthetic that my college tutor fell in love with. I use it less these days due to having a phone that now takes competent n useable photos, and cos it's developed an issue with motion photographs. Which means even a slight wobble of the hands and it's more punishing that Operation. I'd maybe like to get a DSLR in future, funds permitting. It's something I quite enjoy doing, just not much around here at the moment worth taking pictures of. When I'm doing "Photography" i.e actually aiming for something half decent instead of regular snaps, I aim for interesting, quirky n pretty things. While I pick some nice photos out here's the images my 3 year old sister took at the annual village fete where my gran lives http://www.dropbox.com/gallery/2066351/1/Phoebes%20Snaps?h=5749a0 Just dumped my old phone on her (It has a dedicated camera button on it, and a 'big' display) and let her run free with it.

    Help!

There's a fair few. Surprise though. So we won't tell you. There's some gaps to fill in, but we're planned up all the way to 10,000 at the moment. (Personally I think 10,000 is the best rank. But I'm biased)
  4. @ Questioning people: I'd guess from it going all the way from I to XIII with no gaps but MMO's that it's Jap numbering. AFAIK you guys never got the proper II n III as anything until years later as II n III. and the NA numbering goes I, II, V, VI etc.?
  5. Halo is what 2002? It's as classic n retro as glasses with 00's for the eyes. Games can have retro-aesthetics or retro-feel. But it takes good old time to make it a retro game. And it takes time, good luck and endearing game play to make it a classic. I'd say from the current stand point this gen has produced very few "Classics". Things that will live on as long as Pac-Mans, Mario, Sonic, Zelda etc and be as well remembered. GTA I'd say is the only current game I'd be confident enough to say we'll look back on in 25 years n call a "Classic".
  6. Yeah this entire thread is going to be purely subjective. Even more so than choosing greatest n favourites. Was a game overhyped by fans or media. Was it actually over rated as in meta critic, or by general consensus. Mostly it's just a case of "games I don't like". See if I was doing this I'd of got the top rated meta critic games n let folks swap out things they think deserve the 98 for things that don't. And can I say the thread OP is no surprise . It's almost like your trademark.
  7. Well I don't get in character or much. For me it's mostly what I customise the character as with a bit of my play style of choice thrown in. Like for Demon Souls it's not like I made a point of using Tridents or similar. Or a cutlass in Oblivion.
  8. Right Sins we've tried a few in the past I think that's best for starting early on, and definitely a weekend game. We could try at some point. I've only ever played it LAN for MP, so no idea how online MP works, like hooking up with folks n such. Science and Industry I've had suggested in the past but skirted from due to the HL requirement, but I could give it a shot. Looks a quirky game. Multiwinia n Worms I'll put on the cards too. Worms we've done in the past and it was quite liked.
  9. Well I'd say retro is like 1st to 4th generation. Anything Pre-Crash is definitely retro. That was video games "phase 1". Were on Phase 2 at the moment shifting to Phase 3. Phase 1, so 1st-3rd gen (Pre-crash) was consoles finding their feet, trying all kinds of ideas from sticks to numpads n TV overlays n all that whackiness. Phase 2 was the Nintendo Era. Some of it's slipping into retroville, some of it still kinda modern. I'd say thats 4th to 6th gen. Controllers started to become more conformed, gaming got into mainstream n it's where I'd say most of the classics have come from. And we're now in Phase 3. Gaming becomes multi-functional, online n social. Consoles don't just play games anywhere. The internet really has it's teeth in and I think at the moment gaming is in it's coccoon, ready to turn into butterfly or moth. Err went a ramble there. I just guess to explain my "Phase 1" thoughts.. In regards specifically to the retro forum, basically anything that isn't from the current big 4 goes in there. I guess I wouldn't consider Dreamcast "Retro", since I wouldn't call PS2 retro either, but that's sort of where that'd belong since not much else to put it.
  10. Yeah I'm on 2.1. And it's totally a breeze past HD. Glad you like it and that I brought it to someones attention.
  11. For fantasy RPGs I have "Pyrites" which is usually a mage rocking grey/blue-grey hair. Is generally good, but a huge kleptomaniac and will tend to favour the more profitable side of things. Also hordes loads of stuff if able. In FO3 n FO:NV I've played a biker type guy who doesn't give a shit. He has scruffy hair, usually covered with a helmet of sorts (Or in 3 Washingtons wig) and bright pink mutton chops. It's the end of the world, and if folks want to start a fuss, well fuck em. He'll put aside all responsibilities in favour of random exploration. If I happen to pass by a quest objective then I'll do it. Demon Souls: "The Prince". Demon Souls has a really fucked up character creator. I slid the slider all the way and got a red guy. So yeah, he's satan, going into hell. Prince of darkness n all that. Oblivion I made a custom class. Pirate. Which worked somewhat well with the start from port mod I added. Buuut name n beginning where where the name stopped. He was a heavy armour wearing mage that would rush into the fray n whack n blast everything he had at stuff till it died.
  12. I can't say I remember the standard browser much actually. It's much less shit n basic. It's free so worth grabbing n testing yourself.
  13. Dolphin Mini (It's in beta, enough so they updated it other day and I had to relearn the UI again ) It's lean, mean n clean. I got rid of Dolphin HD the day after I picked it up. Also I've been playing the shit out of Angry Birds the past week. Being quite addictive. I love when you leave it at night on a level you're stuck on, the next morning a couple catapult pulls later n you'v cleared it. I think it's kinda crap it has no online score board. Though I assume it has Gamecenter support on iPhone.
  14. Average US male BMI is 28 and weighing in at 191lbs and 5'9" (in 2002)
  15. NES Super Mario Bros 3 Never got very far in it. Mostly played on the "Start" area with my sister. Which I now know to be a sort of remake of the original Mario Bros game.

    Keyboards

(And big image: http://www.ocztechnology.com/images/awards/Elixir_render.jpg) Snap for Chrono. It's a great price n great feature set. Buuut the lack of Win 7 support (Which means every now n then it randomly inserts a UW into whatever you're typing) means I'd never recommend it and kinda kills any chance I'd pick up another OCZ keyboard in future. Quality of the build is good, nice selection of keys n macros. Comes with a spare space bar n WASD too which is a nice touch. I think next time around I'm gonna splash out on a Logitech. Something that glows in the dark a bit n maybe has a display or something. Though they're a bit more than I'd want to spend. I'm looking at a new PC for summer, so expect me to add it in here near then.

    Mice

Average price for a console controller is about £40. Cost for my G5: £35. And considering you can do more with it than just gaming it's not a bad spend. And much more range. Choice for controllers is limited, mice come in all shapes n sizes n feature sets. Some might like a free spinning wheel, some might like wireless(the crazies) some like Ethan might want quick access macros. No complaints on mice being too small or too big or what not either. Clown may be fine with his mouse, and for the most part a better mouse doesn't impart better skills, but it does allow you to pull off a few extra tricks and a ergonomic mouse lets you game for longer without it being a pain.
  18. Firstly cos it shouldn't really be needed. Secondly cos it makes the 360 controller unbearably bulky. The overall shape of the wired pad is actually quite nice. And finally cos USB is a data connection. MS made a USB cable that only carried a charge n nothing else, thus meaning despite a full set of 360 pads if any of us wanted to play on PC we'd need MS's £25 receiver or a wired pad, which are now being phased out.
  19. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1468290/ Also 20th Century Fox have the rights to a Pac Man movie iirc. And in the spirit of the thread: Moonwalker http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=lF89npFbn8g Which in retrospect is also probably one of the worst premises for a game. Michael Jackson "rescues" kids from closets.
  20. So in case anyone has some little ones to entertain for a couple hours: Flower demo. Kid's love it and unlike 95% of games, can also play it competently.

    1. Mudkip3DS

      Mudkip3DS

Funny, I've always thought that Minecraft was a pretty good game to show to the kids, ever since I read that PA strip…

I never got a chance to sit them down with it to see. But Flower has any button for go faster, and everything else is controlled by moving the pad around. Even MC Classic still has more controls than that.

  21. Drink more water. Though I started that a month or so ago, so not exactly a purely 2011 thing. That one I should actually achieve. It's been going well the past month (except home for Xmas) For one that probably won't happen: Procrastinate less. Learn to sleep properly or nap or something.
  22. Honey, I'm home. I think I've said more than my fair share on FFIX. Not completely up for posting n such at the moment. But ask away n I'll answer later.
  23. So midnight tonight. I guess I could probably so that. That's 2 hours away yeah? Lemme unpack PS3 n get it plugged in. I'll pop open Skype someone re-nudge me come time. I had a little refresh this morning. Only got to the washed up boats though.

    Steam

Yeah AFAIK only valve games are gift able like that. Was to do with black box being scrapped in favour of Orange box only. So it encouraged folks who already had hl2 to get Orange box. Other publishers can opt in at their discretion. Just like steam play.
  25. Yeah chew just let me just boot up my steam Android app...
