  1. A place to post your favourite comedians and sketches. Share the laughter. I'll start with this since it's what's spurred me to start the thread. I'll add more later, you guys add some more.
  2. Is it just GTAIV it's happening on cos I've not heard great things about that games optimisation.
  3. You're certainly not the only one. As the creation of this thread shows. It's not a huge money spinner (though it's 70% of Activisions earnings, so you'll never hear them say anything bad about PC) But from a gamer perspective it's better than it's ever been. Once you've got your PC, the ease of use these days is amazing (srsly console folks no matter much you think console gaming is much more streamlined, I've never had to wait to play a game for about 2-3 years now, that's something that's really missing on consoles atm), it's shit loads cheaper, it's much more flexible in the genres you see, theres much more 'un-safe' games; the games that aren't a guaranteed money maker. The hardest part is getting the PC. Once you realise you're spending several hundred on a PC anyway, it's jsut a case of putting forward a couple hundred more and poof it's now a PC that'll do all your daily tasks of facebook n photoshoping n whatever, and will also play games generally better than they'll ever look on console and with a much larger library. And with the cheapness of even new games you're gonna make that initial ~$200 back anyway. According to http://www.steamcalculator.com/id/deanbmmv I have $890 worth of games through steam alone. I certainly haven't spent that amount. (also odd, I'm sure last I looked I had 82 games). If say that was $890 on full priced console games you'd have 14 games. full priced PC games you'd have either 20 games, or a spare $140.
  4. Captains Log. Stardate 64474.5. I've not posted a status for quite some time. So here it is. And yes that date is accurate for today.

online converter thingy. It could be completely wrong mind.

  5. Back in first year we had a nurse student join us mid-way through. Dude was like 25 or something, had spent the intervening years going around the world. So for the later end of the year our kitchen sported the talking piece of the block. A snake eating a scorpion in a bottle of Vietnamese whiskey. I may or may not have a photo of it somewhere.
  6. I mix between liking glasses and disliking them. I have to wear them regardless, but I can't really 'pull them off'. When I'm out n such I wear contacts, primarily for the reason I started on contacts in the first place: Drunk people break glasses. Oh when taking photographs I tend to take my glasses off. Can always photoshop them in later.
  7. Are people doing it on purpose?
  8. Yeah took me a while to get to the strip. I wasn't too bothered. Actually I was kind of bummed on how small it was. The trailers had some very skillful wide shots of the strip As for current playtime V And I've not touched it for a couple of weeks.
  9. Auto-Correct on phones these days is ducking awful. Ethanol can vouch for that. Anyway Piracy. On the topic of phones: Rooting and Jailbreaking for pirating games? Personally I wouldn't bother cos I'm on and android and it's gaming status at the moment is pretty sub-par. And on top of that Angry Birds is free on Android, so no piracy required. All Ad-supported. Which I'm perfectly fine with. I'd be up for some free ad-supported games in future. Though most publishers like to have the ad-support in the game and the initial $60 cost.
  10. Am I the only one seeing Mr GOH's intent?

    Tattoos

IIRC if you want in on things like SAS you can't have a Tattoo at all. And certainly not anything like a union jack across your arm. Tattoos have a tendency of being nationally identifiable and the SAS don't exactly want that. I'd imagine it's similar for the army (I can't much think on why 'Mtoher' would be unacceptable to the army) As for tattoos in general, not too keen on them. Some can be pretty, striking n stylish. Most aren't. My mum is a fan. She's got a blue rose on her ankle and some chinese thing on her back that's supposed to say.. Happiness I think. It probably doesn't (Yeah Chinese/foreign ones are the worst, alongside "Jenny Amanda Betty Laura"). Oh and on the spur of the moment pop culture/fad things. Like getting Edward Cullen tattooed on your back.

    Takeaway food

See we don't have any of that side of the street hot dog stand kind of de4al here (Maybe down in London, next time I'm down I'll have a look) Closest we have is things like these: We've got in town one that makes (pretty nice) bespoke sandwiches, and a sausage one. Which is overpriced. But the idea of the hot dog cart on a roadside in NYC is so quaint n...hollywood.
  13. PC Gaming is dead because Minecraft only sold 800,000 copies compared to the 7(?) million COD Blops had PC Gaming is dead because Epic don't make PC games any more. err come back to me later, doing other shit.
  14. Prototype was more visceral. InFamous was just more...better.
  15. I liked Last Remnant too. But I stopped playing cos controls on PC were garbage. I now have a 260 pad and yet to play through again, but that's same with most games. One day... one day.
  16. I don't think there's many figures other than "this many torrents of our game were downloaded the past year".It'd be pretty hard thing to research but I'd want to compare the sales of titles on:Sales of games with demos vs those withoutPiracy rates of games with demos vs those without (that'd probably be pretty easy.)Sales of games with heavy DRM vs those of none/light. (Though most games with none tend to be indie types or Gog n such. So it'd be hard to judge if it has impact.. Though you could certainly compare sales of say AC1 vs the ubisoft internet-required DRM on AC2)Piracy rates of games with heavy n light/no DRM (I'd maybe say do this at a ratio due to the above indie thing. So like heavy games have a ratio of sold 10:9 pirated, and light with 10:4 or something.)Sales of games sold with console release vs delayed PC release. I'm not a statistician or have access to anywhere near the required figures n methodology. But if I did I'd of done this a while ago cos it's something that's interested me for a while. I think the main problem with trying to get figures for all of this is that games naturally sell different amounts to each other and you'd have noway to compare the effects on a single game. If we had some parallel universe making machine we could have one universe where game has a demo, one universe without then compare the sales. But that's impossible, so the hardest part would be making some reasonable benchmark to compare the sales to. The control I think it's called. As for Crysis that actually sold about 1.5million copies which is a decent amount. Enough to get you in Top 20 charts on PS3 n 360. Which isn't bad for a game most folks couldn't run at the time. And that was within the first few months. Many years and Steam n EA sales later I'd expect it's legendary status to pushed it's sales even higher. As for Epic: They said Piracy is why Gears 2 n 3 aren't coming to PC. There was never a reason for why Halo 3, ODST n Reach aren't on PC (afaik) and no reason for why Fable 2 never hit PC and I'm doubtful for Fable 3. But as they are all from the same publisher who has a vested interest in another platform and all are series that released the single game on PC then went to 360 exclusive (apart from the Vista "showcase" that was Halo 2) I can't help but feel that piracy wasn't the issue Also always worth dropping in: http://torrentfreak.com/call-of-duty-black-ops-most-pirated-game-of-2010-101228/ PC piracy rates are embarrassingly high. But 1/30 Xbox owners pirated Dantes Inferno and/or Alan Wake. VGchartz (not the best resource, but if folks want to complain at least throw some other option my way) sticks the sales of Dantes Inferno on 360 at 600K atm and Alan Wake at 860K. Hence why I find it fucking hilarious, Alan Wake especially, some games are made console exclusive in the name of piracy. Alan Wake already had the foundation built to be a PC game, it was more effort on their part to turn it from PC to 360 exclusive to not release the PC version. And with RDR not coming out on PC the day of it's release it could of actually seen some of the too intimate PC players buying the game and giving it a nice spike in sales.
  17. You'd have a piece of pizza or piece of cake. Hence, why I was never seeing Battra's distinction. I think it just varies case to case? Yeah but the phrase was bits n pieces or parts n pieces. I think the piece we use the same. You'd have: bit of pizza, some pizza, piece of pizza, slice of pizza. But I don't think a part. If you were eating a part of the pizza it'd be in reference to just like picking the toppings off or something. "jim stop just eating part of the pizza n eat the whole slice" Part = component bit = small amount.
  18. I don't think a game set in ukraine is meant to be interesting n pretty looking.
  19. Yeah I was just kind of expanding up on it. We'd have parts n pieces as like..components. So the cream is part of a cake. RAM is part of a computer. But RAM isn't a bit of a computer. If you stuck a IED inside your computer then yeah it'd become bits n pieces. Actually you probably could say 'the ram is only a tiny bit of the computer'. But you definitely wouldn't eat a part of a pizza. Hammered n wasted are others we have. Soused n crunked are new. Actually wasted n hammered are pretty common dunno how I forgot them.
  20. Well a bit is also a small part of something. Which In all those cases the bit are a small part of a drill, tack and computer. You can have a bit of cake, bit of pizza, be a little bit tipsy. Oooh Tipsy. Drunk: Tipsy Pissed Wrecked Rat-arsed Blasted Trollied (Trolleyed?) Plastered Wellied Smashed Trousered And probably many more. edit: Apparently I never posted this. Damn people getting me side tracked.
  21. While I normally prefer Mages n the like I kinda disliked the way Oblivion did magic, felt a bit week n crappy. Bit too slow for some stuff. Just felt if it had a bit of AoE it'd be a bit more useful. so I had a battle-mage type. I'd guess closer to a paladin, as my main use of magic was quick on the spot healing. I never completed oblivion. I first played the PS3 version, spent a hundred plus hours on it. Then got my own copy on PC and I think most of my time has been spent modding it, testing the mod, then getting a new mod rather than actually playing the game One day I'll complete it...one day.
  22. Also if you use Linux to move the files about it completely ignores any windows user access stuff that'd fuck over moving files around if you used Windows to do the file transfers from old HDD to the new one.
  23. http://tay.gappoi.or.../342-steam-ids/ Steam IDs if you'd like to enter yours add folks. Actually that's not a massive necessity since Tali tweaked the profiles yesterday it handles Steam ID's n the like great.
  24. I bought it. Yet to play it. Might be up for something at some point.
