And I bet he wrestled as well as when he was 30 (in other words, not very good.)

Well he threw some punches. And did the big boot. That was about it! Washed up is right!

  3. The problem with this line of thinking is that we don't know if that would be the case for the games market sans used copies. It could very well be that eliminating the secondhand market would drive up the price for used copies and sustain higher prices longer as demand for those copies rises. It seems to work fine on PC. I know its a different market and all but its much the same in principal. Buy one new game and that's it. You can't resell it, you can't lend it to someone. You can wait and buy that at a much lower price in a few weeks on PC as well, like the Witcher 2 which was released at full price and was reduced in a few weeks, and now pretty much stays at around the €25-€30 price point.
  4. I had a feeling something like this would be happening eventually. If they do this, then I think they'll lock used games out but make you pay a 'play-pass' or something to actually play the game. That's if they actually do it. I can see them not doing it cause of their relationship with Gamestop. I don't know whether I would buy the console or not if something like this happened, it would be a pain in the ass, but games go down in price so fast these days that there's really no point in buying used if you play the waiting game....thinking about it after a few minutes.....fuck this. Buying rare used games is one of life's pleasures and we shouldn't be punished for it.
  5. HEY.....SHUT UP.... Well even if you do like it its fine, its not the worst game ever, just a big disappointment to me. But, even for someone who liked it like Cowboy, is it not easy to see why some Final Fantasy fans didn't like it? Its missing a lot of stuff that has always been featured in Final Fantasy like proper sidequests, explorable towns, NPCs to talk to, party members you could control, even minigames. All things that the other games in the series had. And that's even before we bring in the things that XIII AND X and XII were missing that IX and the rest had, like controllable airships and worldmaps. Its like a old series coming back and missing stuff that it had that made it what it was. Surely that's easy to see.
  6. In my opinion its nothing to do with the story being 'too' deep. If that's the case everyone would have hated Mass Effect's story as well or other similar game stories that were....well the focus of the game. Its not very deep especially on the Final Fantasy scale, I mean your not really given an opportunity to care about anyone outside of Sazh. it also wasn't very well scripted, with plot developments that are important being listed in that read chapter part of the menus, rather than being told in a cutscene, which blew my mind.
  7. I think the problem with XIII was that they made a story and a lovely looking world and wanted to somehow fit that into a game, as easily as possible. So they just put you on straight lines to and from the next cutscene and battle, its game development at its most basic.
  8. SO!!! demo has been out for a little while, thoughts and impressions? Its definitely different, so Dragon Ball Z and over the top with flashbacks happening during the fights and it works for me, despite the fact that if someone called it QTEs the game it would be hard to disagree with them. I mean that's basically the whole first fight from the demo, and the second one is 25% actual fighting and 75% QTEs. There are gameplay parts but they are pretty basic feeling......but it works. Something about the sheer over the topness and anime style of the whole thing, the sheer ridiculousness of the plot and the way its presented....I like it. May get really repetitive though.
  9. going to manchester wednesday night, coming back saturday wee!!

  10. Finished Kirby and the amazing mirror for GBA on my 3DS. Really enjoyed that one, a bit of metroid in there with the way the environments are all linked and it wasn't as easy as ALL kirby games are
  11. Phew, had a great workout, and then when I got back to my place I had tuna, garden salad and hot garlic chilli sauce (no mayo or anything) and finished off with some tropical fruit mix. YUMMERS!
  12. NOW, before anyone says 'well Excel your Irish ya big silly' I actually moved from England to Ireland when I was 8 or 9, so I can easily do a regal english accent, the kind Edgeworth would sound like.....I think,,,,,,,,anyway, if I suck that I'll play 'scared inmate no.2'.
  13. Damn that sound kind of sweet........God I'm not sure who I'd like to try Edgeworth maybe?......anyway sounds cooool

Replace 2D with 3D, replace pixel with voxel, replace zombie with mummy, replace tower defence with sandbox exploration and replace perk system with achievements. Oh, and put it on Steam if you can.

  17. doesn't that happen with pretty much every game these days? The pedigree behind this was the reason to be excited....gonna give the demo a whirl on Steam
  18. Worst of all is its €7.50 here :/

Ahh. That really does suck. I didnt like the first Expendables myself. I felt it wasnt what I thought it was going to be. It wasnt as balls out crazy as I hoped. I still want to see 2 though.

Yeah I agree, there were a few bright spots like Arnolds cameo and all the parts with Mickey Rourke but.....aside from that, it wasn't that good, and nowhere near as OTT as it needed to be.

    4. Strangelove

      Strangelove

Mickey rourkes scenes really were the only good parts as far as story and acting was concerned. As for the action.....I was really spoiled by the last 15 minutes of the last Rambo movie. I was expecting something just as bloody.

  20. Looks exhilarating, and the metro setting looks way better than 5's. Seems it still has co-op, hope they've improved that for single player. Can't wait, but you never know what Capcom might do to infuriate us.
  21. But some film reviews aren't completely useless as a measure of entertainment value, some are, but then some reviews are useless as a measure of entertainment value like IGN's review of Deadly Premonition, which trashed it and awarded it 2.0 but took the game for something it wasn't a survival horror when it was something more than that. We can have critiques of games just as we can have normal reviews of games.
  22. Well maybe not become critiques, but reviews should definitely not be afraid to approach that territory
  23. I think the comparison to film is great because well.....so those who write game reviews are game reviewers whereas film reviewers are....film critics. Maybe that's the problem. Reviews should become critiques but we are so used to the traditional game review that its hard to just switch to that, so I think the slow turning of reviews into something more than just a simple review, like the Eurogamer Uncharted 3 review is a good thing. There are plenty of film critics who use a scoring system as well, so I think forcing reviews to not use scores shouldn't automatically make things better, but it would probably help in all honesty. I like the PXOD format, and I think maybe a plus and negative system at the end of reviews is where things are headed. maybe having a piece after a review, where a discussion about certain aspects of the game in a more critical fashion with other writers is the way to go. Edge do a thing like this already, and sometimes discuss it with the developers themselves.
  24. The difference is you got paid by Sainsbury's to work there. She's getting paid by the government....to work in Poundland for free.
