  1. C'MON GAIZ IT WAS A JOKE. U HAVE NO HUMOR. Speaking of which, that dude there called me a douche! HOW DARE HE?! I'm totally unstarring him RIGHT NOW! That'll show him!
  2. Don't even get me started on that. Tuition rates are going up while at the same time budgets are getting cut left and right and the quality of the education is getting worse (one of the professors of my classes said that we won't even HAVE a TA at all! And this is for one of those lab courses, mind you. Ones that NEED a TA and have always had one). But hey, that $170 "Canker Sore Rehab Fee"? We TOTALLY need to keep charging students for that shit each semester. But hey profs, NO printing of your syllabus to students! WE CAN'T POSSIBLY AFFORD THAT.
  3. Plenty of reasons to hate college. My biggest ones so far: 1) The fact that professors don't know how to fucking teach (if you treat a lecture as if it were a business presentation (believe me, the two are VERY similar in form and function), you'll realize just how shitty 99% of your professors are), but don't give a shit because after all, it's your ass on the line. Can't teach? Don't care. Learn it or it's your grade that gets bumraped. 2) Financial aid offices finding new ways to fuck you in the eye, coming up with completely wild allegations as to why they're taking away government-issued grants, then placing the burden of proof on YOU to debunk those wild allegations by demanding "evidence" that's equally as wild. 3) College professors/officials/staff who think it's absolutely optional to reply to an e-mail. 4) The "honor" system in my school being absolutely fucked, mirroring very closely a medieval aristocracy. I'll stop at those 4 for now. I'll be making a full-fledged post on each one in the near future, but don't hesitate to drop your own college-related rants as well. Let's start off this fall semester with plenty of rage venting to go around!
  4. Wait, you already moved into the space two floors down? Or is "the room [you're] in now" the one with those three guys you mentioned earlier? The ironic thing is that the room I'm moving to was the room I was originally assigned to move into. However, I was moving in early and the previous residents had decided to use the room as their junk room. I had to move that day, so after 90 minutes I was assigned to the room I'm currently in, a.k.a. three crazies' place.
  5. Yeah, complaining about not directly crediting Reddit is a bit much. It's not like Reddit doesn't re-post things from other websites all the time anyway.
  6. Ugh. Let's just keep the discussion on Kotaku. I can barely handle the idiocy of one blog's writers at a time.
  7. As I suspected. I rest my case.
  8. I'm reluctant to even ask what Joel said on his twitter. I can only imagine it being worse than the appalling responses he gave on the site itself. This is just affirming my initial suspicions about Joel that he's an incompetent journalist with an extremely thin skin, has absolutely no clue how to handle criticism, and seems to enjoy overreacting (his e-mail exchanges with Dean being a great example of that). I said it in the RPS argument but it bears repeating that sometimes it's not about what is being said about a person, it's how a person reacts to that allegation. Even if the article really wasn't an advertisement at all (and I honestly don't really think it was), Joel's completely unprofessional writing and even worse reaction to its criticisms do far worse at damaging his reputation than a bunch of random readers thinking he got a free lunch out of it.
  9. > DO IT NAO. Is there some secret GS spy somewhere here that will snipe you if they read it or something?
  10. If you wait until NEXT May I'll be able to tell you I'm taking a class in computer graphics this semester so that I can take a game development class on the next. Until then, well...
  11. It's ultimately going to depend on how it's implemented. If it's one of those "it only regenerates REALLY SLOWLY after standing still for 10 seconds" it's not really going to affect much, making it quite trivial to just remove that mechanic through modding. If, however, it's an integral part of the game where your health is always being destroyed that anything that breathes and without regeneration you'd be dead in five seconds, that'd be such a drastic (and lame, IMO) departure from the usual ES mechanics that it'd just turn me off completely. Modders would probably make one of those giant overhaul mods to get rid of that anyway. At any rate, I'm getting too worked up over nothing. There's gonna be a mod to remove it either way, it just depends on how big a mod it'll be.
  12. Well, obviously you have to type them all out now just because you said that.
  13. Needed an ultra-portable computer for school. I SPECIFICALLY went out of my way to NOT buy an iPad. I won't be a part of the tablet fad just because it's the "in" thing. (I also happen to need a netbook, not a tablet).

YOU JUST DON'T UNDERSTAND HOW GREAT THE BLADE IS. If I was a mod I'd remove all your stars and be a pissy bitch!

I would seriously consider a tablet if I were you. They're not a fad, so you should give one a go. Acer has a good one out, and the iPad 2 is actually very good.

  14. You're completely ignoring the character builds that disable restoring magicka (yes, I have one, and yes, it provides a very different kind of experience), and the fact that there were multiple "healing spells" and potions that would have different effects from instant recovery to a constant one over several seconds. By making health regenerate not only does it make absolutely no sense lore-wise (although I can already smell the "he's dragonborn. He has magical regenerating abilities WOOoooOoOOoo" BS plot device from Bethesda a mile away), it also removes every mechanic centering around the preservation and management of health. I would understand it if there was a perk that would let you do this, but to have every single character build regardless of what it is automatically regenerate health is to remove choice in an allegedly open-ended sandbox RPG. You're oversimplifying things if you think non-regenerating health solely exists to "waste your time". Regenerating health does the exact same thing for me, but I wouldn't call a no-fast-travel mechanic a "waste of time".
  15. Were any of your co-workers complete douchebags, either to you or customers? Probably the only time I wanted to buy something from GS was the Skyrim issue of GI. I didn't want a whole subscription, just the one issue. The douche cashier made up some BS about how you absolutely can never buy a single issue, and you MUST sign up for a sub. Went to another store and bought the single issue, as I suspected. I was this close to asking why they'd have a rack of 10 magazines at the counter if you could never buy any of them, but I'm never one to argue unless I absolutely have to so I just left.
  16. Any robberies or situations of physical danger (I'm doubting it, seeing as they'd probably be the first stories you'd tell about )?
  17. Yes. Indeed. That would be FANTASTIC, seeing as it's my most loved feature of New Vegas. But then again, it's clear from the mainstream hype and Bethesda's most recent game decisions that they want this to be as mainstream and "accessible" as possible. Including even an OPTION for a "hardcore" mode sounds very unlikely. Fortunately, I'm pretty sure modders will fix whatever bullshit game decisions Bethesda pulls.
  18. Did you ever have one of those losers who just "hang" around the store for like 3 hours talking to you for absolutely no reason, often rambling to "show off" his "gaming prowess"? I've seen a couple of those in my numerous "I'm only here because I'm bored" GS browsings
  19. Wait, so when was the last time there was an update? 1.8 better be fucking massive >
  20. So I just heard that your health will "regenerate" when out of combat. FUCKING WHY??
  21. So, MaliciousH, any word on that Melee "tourney"?

I got it from them already. Just Connor left. He's in England or something so I think I will have to choose something for him.

Since I am his co-op bro I should have the right of choosing!

  22. I'm definitely disappointed in the RPS editors rushing in and white knighting Kotaku's writers with such ardor. Not because of the fact that they're "NOT" agreeing with us, because of the fact that they of all people should know just how shitty that article was. Yeah sure, so Jim knows Joel personally and all that jazz. It's cute but it doesn't take away from the fact that Joel wrote an article that was nothing more than utter bollocks while at the same time taking the usual cheap shots at PC gaming. The fact that the RPS editors are largely overlooking that is really quite disheartening. What both those parties need to realize is the fact that there was something in the article that set off people. Indeed, while obviously there's "LULZ U GUYZ R PAID SHILLZ" troll posts are sprinkled throughout gaming web sites high and low, this situation is obviously different. Here, several dozen people are suspecting the same thing in unison, and rather than be pettily "offended" at such accusations, what really needs to be examined is why readers reacted that way. But no, rather than admitting the fact that it was the article (for whatever reason, even if it didn't mean they were "paid" for it) that set off that derision from readers, they instead blame it squarely on the shoulders of the readers, making them out like ungrateful nutcases. I'm sorry but I don't buy it. Bad enough that Kotaku had to wipe its ass with its own reputation even more in the first place, now the RPS writers think it's appropriate to rub their nose in it too. My respect for RPS was chipped off at the top here with all this white knighting going on.
