  1. I have also grabbed Tried it a bit this afternoon. Seemed fun but it froze on me during the second level. Like, complete system lock up. :/ I suspect the game isn't entirely at fault, though. Been happening in the Diablo III beta as well. Also, this Through Origin... I feel dirty. Someone hold me...
  2. Got an email about a 50% off sale on Origin last night so checked it out, not really expecting to find anything. Then I saw this for 15$. I remember hearing good things about it around release and while it was never really a priority, I'd been meaning to play it at some point and this was too good a price to pass up. I love how these Origin sales apply to console titles as well. I mean, it's obvious that their goal is to promote the digital side of things but I'm really not sold on the idea of actually buying a PC game on there. That being said, Dragon Age II for 10$ is kinda tempting... I mean, I still feel like they removed everything that made me love the original, but for some reason I've been thinking about maybe giving it a shot lately. I would much rather have it on Steam but at this point it doesn't look like it's ever coming back on there and 10$ is hardly steep...
  3. Might want to make sure that they'll ship the steelbook right away, then. I know Amazon.ca doesn't ship pre-order bonuses in advance. When I pre-ordered mine, I went to ebgames.ca because Amazon.ca didn't mention the steelbook. They now do but they also specify that they'll only ship on release day. So if it's the same for Amazon.com, then you'll probably lose your steelbook if you cancel the PS3 pre-order.
  4. Agreed on the Vanguard. I was soldier in ME1 but then prior to ME2 launch they released a promotional video about the class and showed Biotic Charge. I knew instantly that I needed to switch to it when ME2 came out and I've never regretted it. Biotic Charge + Claymore shotgun is a very deadly combination and the strong melee attack in ME3 complements it quite nicely!
  5. Well, that's enough math for today. Time for some Mass Effect 3 :) And since it's friday night and I've been a good student, I think I'll get me some beer! Can't be saving the galaxy sober!

  6. Man, so many spoiler tags in here. Must tread carefully... So, I'm about 15 hours in so far. I guess maybe I'm about halfway through? I really have no way to be sure but I'm really taking my time and generally try to clear all the side-quests I can before doing the major plot quests. I was so in a hurry to finish ME2 at launch that my final mission was quite the disaster. I was very thorough when I replayed it on PS3 and I won't be making the same mistake again! Anyway, earlier I completed what seems to be the first major plot point. For reference, it took place on Tuchanka.
  7. Way earlier than I usually place my pre-orders, but considering I do it exclusively online, I usually miss out on stuff that stores hand out early like the steelbook. But ebgames.ca mentions that you get it "at the time of purchase", so I'm not sure if they're going to send me one right away or just hang on to it until launch (fat chance of that lol), but according to their site, I *should* be getting one! I normally don't care much for steelbooks when they replace the regular box (like with the N7 Editions of Mass Effect) but in this case it's more like a badass collectible, so why the hell not. edit: just got a shipping notice for the steelbook! I was worried they'd charge me for the full game right away, but it seems they didn't. The only charge from them is for 0.00$, which I'm guessing was only a verification thing for the credit card.
  8. Ugh, for once I actually try to be a good student and decide to open the books and do some math while it's still early. But I just can't get my head into it >_/emoticons/default_sad.png" alt=":(" srcset="/emoticons/sad@2x.png 2x" width="20" height="20" />

3 weeks? Oh well oh jeez, I thought the test was soon. Well yeah of course you're not gonna feel like crunching some numbers, you shouldn't think too much about it and just relax.

That sucks Malicious. I have spring break this coming week and it's gonna be practically spent finishing ME3 then playing Amalur

  9. Grabbed inFamous 2 Festival of Blood since it's less than 5 bucks atm. Haven't played inFamous 2 yet, though. Should I hold off on playing or is Festival of Blood mostly spoiler-free and/or completely unrelated (like Undead Nightmare)?

    1. Hot Heart

      Hot Heart

Completely unrelated, but I'd probably play the main game first.

I have not played inFamous 2, but I played Festival of Blood. Didn't spoil anything for me and got me pretty excited to eventually get to inFamous 2. Have to finish the first one though.... ugh tunnel level ugh.

Hmm, well I don't think I'll be playing it right away anyway, so I guess I might as well wait.

  10. Grabbed a few things on PSN last night. It's a pretty good week for PS+ subscribers. Got the original Sly Cooper along with two weird games called Hamsterball and Battle Fantasia, all free. They're also giving away SSFIITHDR and Umjammer Lammy, but I already owned both of those. Other than that, I bought the From Ashes DLC for ME3 along with inFamous 2: Festival of Blood and Chrono Trigger, the last two being being on sale for less than 5$ each. I'm debating getting Journey as well, but 15$ seems a bit steep to me. Especially after having just spent close to 20$.
  11. About 4 hours in so far. First impression is it feels a lot like ME1. I am not displeased. They actually brought back a lot of elements I missed in ME2. Mostly small details, but I'm glad to see them back nonetheless.
  12. Got my ME3 shipping notice :D Looks like I'm getting it tomorrow. As much as I hate buying from gamestop.ca, their free shipping is actually pretty fast. I rarely get my games on release day with Amazon.ca

Yeah, that's pretty much my experience with them. I think once I actually got a game a day early. Sometimes I get it on release day but usually it's a day or two later. No big deal.

But sometimes it's fucking ridiculous. There were a few times where release day came and my copy still hadn't been shipped, and the shipping estimate was a whole week later. When that happens, I usually just cancel the order and go out and get the game from a store.

      TheMightyEthan

I have never in my life gotten a game before street date. I feel left out. :(

The closest I've come was Best Buy trying to tell me that Twilight Princess on the GC wasn't releasing until 3 days later. I went to Walmart and bought it there instead.

lol It's not always awesome. One time, Gamestop (US) sent me the Limited Collector's Edition of MGS4 a day early.

      Problem is, I didn't have my PS3 yet >_<

  13. I assume that was in reply to my post? If so, I didn't mean the "feel" of it. I was referring more to how Brotherhood and Revelations are basically the same game. I don't want ACIII to be set in a single city which I will slowly renovate for no reason whatsoever. I still want to run around on rooftops and stab people in the throat, just make the general structure of the campaign and side-stuff a bit more interesting.
  14. Okay, so this is basically what I was hoping for. They've been working on it for a few years now and it looks like they improved the engine and everything. If that's all true, then as long as they basic gameplay formula isn't lifted straight from Brotherhood and Revelations, then I'm definitely back in. http://gamingbolt.com/assassins-creed-3-info-blowout-new-engine-protagonist-information-new-camera-animus-3-0
  15. PC version. I heard it runs like shit on some most systems but I've wanted to try it for a while now and it's currently 3.75$ on Steam, so if it doesn't work I won't lose much sleep over it.
  16. I just hate how exam logic works. I was convinced I'd totally nailed my calculus mid-term but only got 78. Then I spent the past week convinced I'd somehow screwed up my programming exam on C and today I find out I got 92. Go figure.

I know what you mean. I came out of my exam today thinking "that was harder than it needed to be" and just saw my grade and still got an A

I got a calc mid-term tomorrow... blah. I am going to die, for real when combined with a chem mid-term.

It always happens. My first ever essay at uni, don't think I've done well, didn't care about the topic, got 72 (a great grade at this uni). Wrote a massive, passionate essay about More's Utopia, feel like it's amazing, and get 62

  17. Dat new Avengers trailer! Holy... I came. A LOT.

Is there even a new movie version of those Avengers in the works?

  18. That's true, and I thought the ending was actually quite good. But it was (no actual spoiler, but I don't want to blurt out details people might not want to know)
  19. My excitement went down a notch when I remembered that EA owns Maxis and as such that this all but guaranteed to require Origin and not be on Steam :/ But still, glad to see it's on the way. Can't wait to hear more about it.
  20. Eh, doesn't feel that way to me so perhaps I didn't explain myself clearly enough. It's not like the game didn't meet my expectations quality-wise. To be honest, I didn't really have any other than "this is supposed to be pretty good". And it was. Like I said, the game didn't disappoint me. But I was led to believe the game had something particularly special or unique about it. A good comparison would be Braid. The ending really changes how you view the game and its story as a whole. Braid would be the same game in terms of gameplay quality with or without that ending. It's just something that makes it a bit more interesting/special. I was under the impression that Bastion would have its own unique element like that. I simply don't see what it was about the game that made people praise it as much as they did. It's not that it didn't deserve praise, it's that I didn't see anything so special about it that made it more deserving of praise than other downloadable/XBLA type games. Take Limbo, for example. It was praised but I never saw people make as big a deal about it as they did about Bastion. And in my opinion, neither game is more praise-worthy than the other. They're both excellent titles in their own rights. If I'd played the game earlier and then after I did people started going crazy over it, I still wouldn't see what's so special about it.
  21. That doesn't really apply. It's not like I was disappointed by the game. Like I said, it's a solid title. It's just that people creamed themselves over it so much that I'd figured it had to be something special. It wasn't.
  22. Bastion. Was pretty short, I started it last night and finished it this afternoon. It's a great game but now that I've finished it I must admit I fail to see why everyone made such a big deal out of it. I mean, don't get me wrong. It's a solid game. The soundtrack was great, the gameplay was fun and the narrator was a cool way to tell the story but.... that's pretty much it. It didn't exactly blow my mind or anything. Just seemed like a standard quality game with some originality in it. Is that all it takes to impress people nowadays? Not really sure what all the fuss was about. The narrator was cool but I feel he alone doesn't justify all the praise. I kept expecting that "wow" moment, but it never came. I'll probably replay it at some point to get the other ending, but I'm not in a hurry to do so.
  23. So, I mentioned it a few posts ago, but now that I've played both DLC episodes, I'm making an official entry: I have completed Alan Wake. Overall, I fucking loved it. it's not without flaws but considering I'd been looking forward to it ever since it was first revealed in like 2005 and was kinda furious when the PC version initially got killed, I'd say it was worth the wait. Not a perfect game by any stretch of the imagination but I loved everything about it. Especially how it's basically a huge Stephen King hommage. I love me some Stephen King. Also, even though it's only the third game I've played from them over the past decade, I kinda want to say Remedy are one of my favorite devs. I am a huge Max Payne fan, I think I played the first one more than I did Ocarina of Time (and OoT was the only N64 game I had for like a whole year, so that says a lot), and some elements of Alan Wake actually reminded me why I liked Max Payne so much back then (also brought back some of my worries about Max Payne 3 a bit, but that's another discussion entirely). As soon as I finished AW, I reinstalled both Max Payne games on Steam Gonna have fun replaying those. Now, let's just hope they don't take too long to bring American Nightmare to PC!
  24. I'm exactly the same. I loved Enslaved's ending and I'm a sucker for a good cliffhanger ending (think I have Lost to thank for that), so I love the AC endings as well. I fucking love when a story is good enough for the cliffhanger to make me go "God DAMNIT!!". And I was actually disappointed by the Uncharted 3 "twist" because of how I beat Alan Wake a few days ago (played The Signal last night and will be playing The Writer tonight) and I loved how the ending to the main game brings closure to the story arc but still leaves some things unanswered and kinda makes you go "wait... wtf just happened?!". Of course, a cliffhanger ending fucking sucks when the game gets no sequel. I still get annoyed whenever I remember Psi-ops: The Mindgate Conspiracy...
  25. Eh, I just try to enjoy the story. Also, the atmosphere is a lot like the Persona games, and that's exactly what I was hoping for (I wish they would just announce Persona 5 already ). I'm also really liking the puzzle/climbing gameplay a lot, even if it can be frustrating at times. I seriously wanted to kill that fucking baby. And I don't just meant the difficulty of that level, although that was also a part of it. No, the baby's actual voice and line delivery was just.... so goddamned irritating! It actually made me want to carve my own eyes out with a damn spoon! If a real baby is anywhere near that irritating, then I don't fucking want one because I think I would strangle it before it turned one!
