  1. Yeah, I'm not really into bullet hell so I never payed too close attention to the series in general. Also, launcher options for Celceta: It's nice not to have to worry about port quality sometimes...
  2. That should be it for me. I was looking through my wishlist and the top sellers and I couldn't find anything else that I really wanted, at least not at its current price. I wasn't really interested in a Life is Strange prequel but the free game and the announcement of season 2 got me thinking back to the original and now I feel all nostalgic about it. So I figured what the hell, might as well play this first.
  3. Well I didn't expect the game in general to be Souls-ish, the combat just seemed to be a bit Souls-inspired during the E3 demo. But so far I don't find myself using the shield a whole lot and the lack of stamina means I can just dodge around guards endlessly and spam heavy attacks once I'm behind them.
  4. So I'm like 10 hours into Assassin's Creed Origins. I was a little disappointed to find out that it's not the complete reinvention I was expecting, although to be fair, I hadn't really looked at it too closely outside of the initial E3 reveal demo. My interest was mostly due to highly positive word of mouth around the internet. But yeah, it's basically the same old AC but with an actual combat system (and I kinda wanna say better/refined climbing but it's been so long and I haven't played anything since ACIII, so I really can't say for sure). The combat isn't as Soulsy as I was expecting (it's really more of a clunky brawler and lacks the weight) but it's certainly an improvement over standing around waiting for guards to attack you one by one and pressing the counter button. The thing is, turns out I actually missed the series. I wouldn't have guessed given the half dozen times I started Black Flag and failed to get into it but I'm actually really enjoying this one. I also really like Bayek so far, he kinda reminds me of Ezio. I'm actually considering getting the season pass while it's on sale.
  5. Can't find any announcement tweets just yet but the store page for Memories of Celceta is live with a release date of July 25th. That leaves me with just a week to play it before Yakuza 0 comes out. edit: There it is I guess that Touhou game is the one they released on console a while back? I can't keep track of that series, so many games and spin-offs...
  6. Dying Light. It's not perfect but it's a pretty damn fun game all things considered. None of its parts are particularly unique or exceptional but they somehow combine into something greater than their sum. Basically a shallower Mirror's Edge combined with an immersive sim(-ish) open-world. That's a pretty damn good combo, as far as I'm concerned. I almost feel bad for waiting until it dropped below 20 bucks to buy it because Techland have done an amazing job with their long-term support and the game is actually fucking packed with content. I played almost 30h and that was with only doing about half the side-quests and none of the DLC. I also still have The Following to do, which is a separate campaign. So yeah, unless the previews look like complete shit I'll be there day one for Dying Light 2. I'm tempted to keep playing and go into completionist mode but some of the achievements are related to the online and co-op and that kinda makes me not wanna bother. No point going to that much effort if I'm not gonna be able to get everything. It's a shame because I could see myself easily dropping another 10-20 hours into this sandbox. It's just that much fun.
  7. No no, that's not right. If you bought DMC4 then this is the meme/song you need to be referencing! edit: I can sell Steam cards again, so I've been farming and selling them for the past couple weeks and made about 120 bucks. Which means this all only cost me about 40 bucks out of pocket. I also got some Warframe DLC packs because why not. Don't know if I'm done or not yet. I have a few foils that I thought wouldn't sell that (annoyingly) did right after I sent the purchase through, so I already have a little bit of funds back in my wallet.
  8. FUCKING FINALLY!!! Coming in October!
  9. Dying Light update 2: I finally unlocked Batman mode, aka the "grappling hook". Either that's a typo or the folks at Techland don't understand how a grappling hook actually works because this is clearly Batman's grapnel gun. This thing just fucking ziplines me wherever the hell I aim it at and it breaks the game in the most amazing way. Shortly after I unlocked it, I was doing a story mission where I had to break into this heavily fortified compound with really high barbed-wired fences (which you can't climb). Clearly, the game wanted me to figure out an awesome parkour way to get in there but I just shot my grapnel gun at the wall over the fence and just flew right in there. "I found a way in, it wasn't easy." my character lied over the radio. Dying Light is pretty decent as a survival horror-ish parkour melee action game with crafting and resource management. But it's ridiculous fucking fun when balance goes out the window and you start breaking it with overpowered skills and incredibly stupid crafted weapons.
  10. And there it is, PC release is day and date with console. Really makes me wonder what they were thinking with delaying the announcement until E3. I guess maybe they weren't sure they could hit the date but if not then it's baffling decision just to have that bomshell during the PC Gaming Show. They pissed off a lot of people and ultimately I feel like the announcement of the port got completely overshadowed by Yakuza anyway lol.
  11. Hopefully this will push them to be more consistent with their page info. The developer/publisher info is just a text field, so a lot of them just write it without any consistency. Which makes it kind of annoying when clicking on it to see their entire library. For example, the Neptunia games have wildly different titles so you can't make them all show up with keyword search. But you can't do it through the dev info either because on some pages it's "Idea Factory" and on others it's "Idea Factory Co." or whatever else.
  12. Yeah, when the teaser countdown started I was kind of hoping it would be a fighting game made by ASW. Though, I guess Kill La Kill doesn't quite have the same mass appeal as Dragon Ball Z...
  13. Kill la Kill game announced. Cool, I guess? Although it's a fucking disgrace that it isn't being made by Platinum. I'd be way more interested in it then.
  14. I kinda doubt there's enough interest to start a dedicated Warframe thread here but the new cinematic quest, The Sacrifice, dropped last night so I'm just gonna dump my thoughts in here, I guess. It wasn't mind-blowing or game-changing like The Second Dream or War Within but i think it might be my favorite so far. The quest itself had its own twist on the usual cinematic quest presentation, so that was nice. I'm really looking forward to see where this particular plot thread goes next, although I have no idea when that'll happen. I suspect it won't be anytime soon, considering the previous one came out like two years ago and this one had a full year between announcement and release. The short prologue to this was released in December but I only played it a couple weeks ago, so I didn't have to suffer that particular cliffhanger for very long. No such luck this time lol. Anyway, these usually introduce something major to the game, usually a new system or mechanic or a significant plot reveal/twist. This one's no different except that what it introduces can be discussed without spoilers. So, The Sacrifice introduces Umbra warframes, starting with Umbra Excalibur. It's basically a cooler looking, slightly stronger Excalibur Prime, which pleases me greatly because Excalibur is my favorite frame and the prime version is impossible to get now. I'm not sure if these will be released as regularly as primes or if their releases will all be events like this but I'm kinda glad to be there for the introduction. Hopefully it means collecting them all will be feasible.
  15. It goes down to 5$ regularly on PC and the summer sale starts next week! I swear to God, though. If we have to do that whole "No, no! DON'T quit at the fucking tank mission!!" thing again...
  16. So nothing like XCOM then. Kidding aside, I take it you've never played any of the Commandos series? Because they're the clear inspiration for Shadow Tactics. So if you really enjoy it, they might be worth checking out. Last I checked they were all on Steam. edit: Dying Light update: I found out there's a mobile companion app that lets you send loot to the main game. I just spent like 20mins doing missions in it while watching Twitch (you just send scouts on missions and wait for the timer to end) and sent myself a package in the main game. I now have 31 medkits. I am no longer mad at the game. Oh and @MetalCaveman, thanks for pointing out the camouflage skill! I probably would've overlooked it and it's super useful when trying to break into police vans.
  17. Been playing Dying Light since yesterday and enjoying the hell out of it. The parkour feels very fluid and satisfying and the gameplay loop is just good enough that I'm constantly going "one more quest" and just end up playing for hours. Although, I am kinda furious with it right now. See, I have two issues with the game. The first (minor) one is the weapon degradation. I don't get how this is still a thing that game designers think is a good idea. At least, the kind where your weapons are seemingly made out of paper and have a very limited life before they inevitably break permanently. The way it worked in Dark Souls is fine but here it was pretty annoying early on. At least I was able to buy skills to make them last longer and have a chance of not consuming one of their limited repair points, so it's not as bad now. What made me furious is I just did a quest where I encountered a pretty strong zombie that I'm now suspecting might not have actually been killable. I burned through all my fucking medkits trying to fight that motherfucker and ended up dying anyway. If the game didn't use autosaves I seriously would've reloaded a previous save because man, I really feel like I got fucked here. I ended up having to try and run past him and barely managed to get what I needed and went back to the quest giver. To keep it short, the quest involved gas pipes and this motherfucker turned on his setup only for it to explode in my face. My character made a comment about "maybe I should watch from a safe distance" but there was no quest marker or anything telling me to actually get back, so I assumed it was a joke. So I died, which brings me to my second and bigger issue: you fucking lose XP when you die! It's not even a lot but after burning through all my medkits and receiving death as a quest reward, that's just adding insult to injury... Worst part is the game is so much fun that I couldn't actually rage quit. I just wanna keep playing, which almost makes it just a little more frustrating lol.
  18. Seems like a weird cross between RE4 style and old-school inventory/puzzle style. I'm intrigued but tbh I'm not entirely convinced it'll work. Man, why couldn't they just do it in REmake style.
  19. Yeah, as much as I love the Souls formula and would be happy to get more, this sounds equally good to me. Hell, with Nioh 2 also announced, I'm actually glad this is going to be different.
  20. Now that I think about it, I'm not even sure something like Crysis would fly today. Not when you have legions of complete fucking morons cranking everything all the way up on their potato and then complaining about "muh optimization". Implementing tech actually meant to only be viable in the future doesn't seem like the best move these days. Even if you label it in big bold letters "DO NOT TURN ON UNTIL 2020", you'll most likely still get fucking morons calling your game a "shitty port" and review bombing you. Hell, just look at Quantum Break for a recent example. The game has insane global illumination tech that's genuinely demanding but people still complained about the resolution scaling and called it unoptimized.
  21. New Steam Chat beta is live. I guess it's now more Discord-like? I don't know, I don't really use Discord. Seems really slick, though. The friends list especially. There's also now an invisible mode. The client is also slightly tweaked. It's more blue now and the top bar icons were changed a little. Hopefully that means the proper client overhaul is coming in the near future.
  22. I haven't played Witcher 3 either and I'm beyond hyped for Cyberpunk. I actually played the first two but when W3 came out I just found the prospect of getting into such a massive game exhausting. I want to play it but I haven't felt like going back to it yet. W3 is obviously a fantastic game, so any new IP by the same dev is going to be of interest to people, I think. Especially when cyberpunk > fantasy. So yeah, I don't see the relation here. Also, apparently it's first-person! http://ca.ign.com/articles/2018/06/12/e3-2018-first-cyberpunk-2077-details-game-is-a-first-person-rpg-more
  23. Have you not heard about our lord and savior, Cyberpunk 2077? But yeah, I'm not sure what you expect exactly. Got any examples? I mean, what does "PC first" even imply for most console-friendly genres? Insane graphical tech? I'd much rather get interesting gameplay and strong aesthetic style, personally.
