Fuck if I know. I'm seeing vague complaints about "horrendous art style" and "shitty aesthetics" and I have no idea wtf they're talking about. Hell, Nero and Dante both look slightly different but it's still nothing compared to what they did to Chris in RE7. Speaking of which, I guess REmake 2 at Sony tomorrow. Cautious hype! Oh, really? I actually thought the music in the trailer was cool in that cheesy DMC way. And I never really cared for the music in that series all that much except for that one metal track near the start of DMC3. The last time I played a Tales game that was supposed to be the best one was Symphonia and I found it so dull I stopped halfway through. Then I tried the supposed worst one that is complete dog shit, Zestiria, and I actually enjoyed it a lot and finished it. The Tales fanbase is fucking weird and I'm done listening to anything they have to say lol.

Kicked myself for not getting it when it was on sale a few weeks ago, so I'm not missing it this time. Seems like the perfect time to finally play it now that they've announced a sequel made by Chris Avellone.

Lol some people on Era are already complaining about the art style in DMC5. Jfc, these fuckers are mind-blowingly impossible to please. It looked like Devil May Cry to me. ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ edit: Oh yeah, I guess the Tales of Vesperia remaster is cool. I remember hearing all about how great it was last gen and then when it finally got a PS3 port they never localized it. My experience with Tales has been fairly hit and miss so far, and kind of the opposite of the fanbase consensum, so I'm a bit more skeptical than I was. But still, I'll definitely give it a shot.

Oh thank fucking god. Activision had me worried it might be on Battle.net...
-
Yeah, in my mind this type of world should exist in a state of perpetual night time lol. Looked great, though. Can't wait to see some proper gameplay.

Announced that they bought a bunch of studios, including Compulsion and Ninja Theory. I expect the worst.
-
Wow, fuck Microsoft. I actually cared about some of those studios.

S-E Montreal just announced that they're not making any more of these, which reminded me that this one annoyingly never got a Steam release. Since I have a phone now, I figured I might as well get the mobile version. They're all on sale super cheap right now, I guess to celebrate the death of the series, so I'm tempted to also get Hitman and Lara Croft but I'm not sure if I actually want to replay them. Oh and I guess I also got that Humble Daedelic Bundle. Except that I didn't actually buy the bundle and only redeemed the free Warframe booster pack. I already had some active from another promo and they stack, so I ended up with XP and resource boosters for almost a full week. Fun times lol.

Nonsense. EA having a shitshow conference is basically an E3 tradition at this point. It just wouldn't be the same without it. That being said, I had no idea it was today so I missed it. Think I'll set up alarms on my phone for the others lol.

Is your email something common? If it's not obvious spammy shit then it could just be a mistake. One of my emails is just firstname dot lastname at gmail but apparently gmail ignores all the dots, so I get all the mails sent to any version of that address regardless of how many or where the dots are. My name isn't exactly uncommon and some idiot in the area seems to think the version without a dot belongs to him, so I occasionally get some of his mail. Mostly confirmation mails for his interac money transfers and once even something from his ISP. I have no way of contacting him so I just delete them.

Falcom thread (Trails, Ys, Xanadu, etc.)
toxicitizen replied to toxicitizen's topic in Multi-Platform Games
I'm sure XSEED will get around to it once Falcom decides to give Cold Steel 3 and 4 to someone else. But yeah, that's one of the older Falcom games I know basically nothing about but see mentioned somewhat regularly on wishlists for XSEED to bring over. Going by those videos, I feel like I'd probably have a hard time getting into it. Another one I see mentioned regularly is Dinosaur Resurrection and that one looks a bit more up my alley. -
Samsung Galaxy A8. I kinda wanted a Google Pixel but I could get this one without having to pay anything for it up front and still have a decent monthly rate. The expandable memory is also a nice bonus. Especially after being constrained to an 8GB mp3 player for like a decade... The phone itself should get here this afternoon. Kinda looking forward to it.

I've finally decided to stop being a caveman. The decision may or may not have been slightly influenced by me playing Jackbox for the first time while drinking with friends last week. I ordered both that phone and case along with these because my current ones have had sound coming only from one ear for long enough that I can no longer remember exactly when they broke. I just kinda stopped using my mp3 player because of it but if I'm getting a new device I figured they needed to be replaced.

IIRC, that was just a promo comic strip they had Penny-Arcade do for Fallout 3. I'm amazed it's considered canon on any kind of fan wiki lol.
-
Apparently it's a Rust-like game. So multiplayer, crafting, survival, etc. Not exactly the most exciting thing in the world, as far as I'm concerned.

Warframe. I mean, I guess? It's not exactly the kind of game you really "beat" since you can potentially keep playing it forever. But I finally completed all the quests, which are the closest thing the game has to single-player/story content. There's a new cinematic quest coming out soonish, though, so I have that to look forward to. But man, this game is a hell of a time sink. Just passed the 300 hours mark today and I don't think I'll be stopping anytime soon. At the very least, I plan to keep logging in daily for the tributes and sorties for the foreseeable future. You're mostly just constantly grinding but the core gameplay is so much fun that it doesn't get old. I've also not even touched everything in the game. I've barely done anything on the Plains of Eidolon, I haven't tried the recently added Sanctuary Onslaught mode and I've only recently started getting into relic farming and prime weapons. To say this game is dense with content is a hell of an understatement. I'm still constantly looking things up on the wiki and learning new things about it. I don't think I've ever gotten into a game this much, to be honest. It shot up to the top of my most played list on Steam a while back and by now it has almost double the playtime of the previous #1 (XCOM: EU). So yeah, not bad at all for a free to play game. Although, at this point I've basically spent the equivalent of a full priced game on it. You can mostly manage to get anything you want without paying but if you wanna keep all your warframes you do need to buy extra inventory slots with platinum. I've also gotten the occasional cosmetic items and boosters because why the hell not. I've gotten more out of this game than pretty much any other game before, so I really don't mind throwing Digital Extremes some money.

X-Men: Apocalypse Finally got around to watching it last night. Yeeesh. I mean, it was alright but how did they follow up the amazing Days of Future Past with this? There were some cool character moments in it but Apocalypse himself was terrible and he barely did anything in the movie. Everything about him just kinda fell flat and the b-plot/second act was the best part of the movie. Not gonna get my hopes up for the next one. Especially since it's Dark Phoenix and I thought Sophie Turner was kinda bad in this one.

I really hope they only used Dolphin for the trailer for some reason and aren't actually going to release an emulator with a Steam wrapper. If I wanted to emulate Killer7, I could do it for free with my PS2 copy. Just port the fucking thing or don't, I'm not paying for a half-measure. The fact that it's announced for Steam only with seemingly no console release planned makes me think that's probably hoping for too much, though. Plus, all the screenshots on the store page are in 4:3...
-
Yeah, obviously I wouldn't want them to change anything. I don't know how hands-off they actually are with Marvel but I would hope that they're savvy enough to trust them with their own character and would just sit back while Marvel makes them another half billion or so.

Deadpool 2. This is basically the best X-men movie yet lol. They made much better use of having access to that series than in the first one. There's a surprising amount of... well, surprises in it. I'm amazed I didn't get a single one spoiled. And yeah, that mid-credits scene is a thing of glory. I expect them to reboot the X-Men but I kinda want them to just drop Deadpool as is into the MCU. He already references them and DC all the time anyway. It would be perfect!

It's about rude.

Falcom thread (Trails, Ys, Xanadu, etc.)
toxicitizen replied to toxicitizen's topic in Multi-Platform Games
Apparently the release date for Disgaea 5 on Steam (which IIRC, after the initial delay was a vague 'summer') has disappeared from the store page entirely today. I don't even know what to think anymore lol. -
Clickhole is usually pretty damn good. Sometimes, though. Sometimes it's pure fucking genius.
-
I'm more optimistic about it this E3 than I've been in a long time but maybe I should start replaying all the Splinter Cell games. Just to be safe...

Annihilation. Well, that was a pretty fantastic sci-fi horror. I'm super confused as to why they dumped it on Netflix everywhere but the US, though. I loved it but it's a pretty slow movie. Mainstream audiences that are only interested in shoving popcorn in their faces while watching loud CGI clusterfucks are going to be bored to tears by it. I mean, if you're going to pick and choose countries like that, the US seems like the last place you'd want to give a wide theatrical release to this kind of slow and intelligent movie. I think I'll have to grab the book it was based on at some point. I'm curious to see how faithful of an adaptation it was and I'm pretty sure it bombed hard enough to guarantee the sequels will never get made. I feel like the movie stands well enough on its own, but knowing there's more makes me really curious to know how the rest of the trilogy plays out.
