Well, there's a game I never expected to buy. Mostly because being forced to skip an installment has a way of making me lose interest in a series completely. I also always figured that these MMO-like loot games just weren't for me but over 150 hours later I'm still completely hooked on Warframe, so I was dead wrong on that one. So, I've been curious to try out some more of them. I was more interested in The Division tbh, but Humble Monthly tends to make things a little more tempting with the secret games potentially sweetening the pot.

Finally got around to watching Black Panther last night. It was alright. Went to see Infinity War tonight. Holy. Fucking. SHIT! There were at least half a dozen times during the movie that I thought "This is the best movie ever!" Seeing all those characters interact on such a scale was just pure joy. As for the ending I have to say, though. I'm kind of insulted that they think I have any interest in watching a fucking Ant-Man movie after this lol. Like, who gives a shit about that right now?!

Falcom thread (Trails, Ys, Xanadu, etc.)

I'm aware of this one and Yakuza. What other ones were there? I'm guessing it's simply a matter of it being easier to program a soft lock rather than actually removing content and compiling a completely new build. But yeah, if you're not careful that soft lock might be a little too soft lol. -

Holy shit, so Alienware had some Disgaea 5 demo keys for Steam. Grabbed one and today I'm getting an alert that it was revoked. I'm still not 100% on what happened but the game is no longer purchasable and apparently the release date has been delayed. Lmao what the fuck is up with this company? -
I'm kind of offended that you'd waste a perfectly good bottle of whiskey on a Sonic game.

Still gonna have that NISA localization, though. At this point I'm legit hoping for a PS5 remaster, just on the off chance it might end up going to XSEED and we get a do-over. -

Welp Seems performance is somewhat improved but people are reporting a ton of weird issues. From constant crashes and (apparently?) locked internal resolution all the way to movement being limited to 8-way. They had 7 fucking months to get this sorted and they still couldn't do it. What a joke lol. It's a shame SteamSpy recently died because I would love to see just how abysmally this is selling. If there's any justice in the world, it's bombing even harder than XSEED's releases. If Falcom ever give NISA not just Trails but literally anything else, I'm gonna have a hard time justifying supporting them in the future. It'll be a sad day when I have to wait for deep discounts for Falcom games out of principle. edit: Lmao, people (including Durante) are reporting that some of these issues weren't present in previous builds (as recently as last week-end). So the question is whether they uploaded the wrong build or somehow fucked it up overnight lol. -
I left that one unfinished for the longest time because I was missing a resource for the last step. I finally completed it a few days ago and I log in pretty much every day for the daily reward and that idiot still seems to hate me. It MIGHT be because I let him bleed out a lot during missions. But in my defense, he's pretty fucking useless and gets himself killed a lot lol. The loyalty thing seems fairly easy to recover just by petting him on the ship, though. What does annoy me is how he has like... bad DNA or something and you need to keep spending credits to buy stabilizers to keep him healthy.

So, after finishing Prey I thought I'd take the time to jump back into Warframe and finally check out what this Second Dream quest is all about. It was the entire reason I started playing the game and I had been putting off playing it for like 2 months at this point. Well, I did and uh... I don't know if I'd call it "one of the best quest in all of gaming" like some people have, but in the context of Warframe itself it is pretty freaking nuts. It's not just that it's more cinematic than all the quests that came before it, it's not just the lore significance of the reveal or even the impact it has on the actual game. It's the sheer insanity of hiding this quest behind like 50 hours of gameplay. And apparently I got there pretty quickly because I often see reports of people getting to it around the 100+ hours mark. Games have a tendency to frontload their best content to hook you in right away, so this was a pretty ballsy move by Digital Extremes. So yeah, I'm playing a lot of Warframe again. At the very least, I'll give a little push to get to the next quest ASAP because it's usually mentioned alongside Second Dream.

Free week-end is live, so I gave it a try earlier tonight. Played for about an hour and had to uninstall it lol. What I played was awesome but when I saw what kind of game it is, I knew I should probably quit before really getting into it. I decided to stop buying games (except for the occasional bundle) and focus on my backlog for a while, and I already broke my rule by impulse buying Chrono Trigger a few days ago. So, the last thing I need is to tempt myself to get this one right now. It's definitely going high on my wishlist, though.

Isn't Ghost Recon originally stealth-oriented? Also, do you need to unlock that mission somehow or will I be able to just try it once the free week-end starts?

Xseed teasing their Marvelous slate for 2018. So, an old X360 game that looks kind of awful, Ninja Boobs and that Fate musou sequel/update(?). Not the most exciting line-up, sometimes I kinda wish they weren't owned by Marvelous. They don't exactly have the most amazing ouput. Hopefully they have a few surprises left for E3. Although after the last couple years, I'm not getting my hopes up too much. Surprised to see Senran Kagura confirmed for PC at the same time, though. They usually come months later, so I wonder if it means simultaneous release.

Falcom thread (Trails, Ys, Xanadu, etc.)
toxicitizen replied to toxicitizen's topic in Multi-Platform Games
Turns out there is a beta, just no new applications. After jerking us around for over half a year, the least they could've done is give us one last chance at scoring a free copy lol. Anyway, apparently it's mostly fixed. At least, that's what I've heard. I'm not sure where people are having these NDA-breaking discussions lol. So take it with a grain of salt. I still wouldn't pre-order. Or pay full price, to be honest. -
Well, fuck me! Square-Enix actually patched this fucking thing. They didn't just add an option to turn off the sprite filtering, they changed the font to something closer to the original, added a gradient to the text boxes and even fixed the timing on the main menu logo animation! And they still have more planned, including a reworked UI. Color me surprised, they might actually give a shit here!

edit: Original tweet was deleted but the internet remembers. Announce new release date a single week ahead of time? Check! Misspell Adol's fucking name? Check! Delay once again? Find out next week, on Dragon Ball Z! -
Oh, nice. Definitely gonna give it a shot then. I mostly ignored it until now due to the coop focus but this Splinter Cell thing has me a little curious. If the game is enjoyable enough solo then I might grab it down the line.

Prey Hoooooly shit! This is my kind of game. I kinda regret not squeezing it in at the last minute like I was planning to last year because it totally would've stolen my GOTY from Nier:Automata. I only played a few hours of System Shock 2 years ago but that was more than enough to recognize its DNA here. They dumbed down the formula WAY too much with BioShock, so I'm really glad to finally see a proper spiritual successor. I know it didn't do so hot sales-wise but I really hope the DLC they've been teasing on twitter won't be the last we see of this series. I'm still bummed out that Deus Ex is all but confirmed to be dead again, so I really hope Arkane gets to keep making games like this and Dishonored. If not, then at least we still have the System Shock remake and System Shock 3 to look forward to. But you can never have too many immersive sims. I think I need to go back and play the System Shock games now. I'm curious to see how well they hold up. I'm sure SS2 is still great but I think the original might be a little too dated at this point.

I've been bouncing back and forth between Prey and Dragon Quest VII all week. I started Prey like 2 weeks ago and it's absolutely amazing. Like 20mins in I was already kicking myself for not starting it months ago. But then Square-Enix announced Dragon Quest XI for PC and it got me kinda hyped up, so that 3DS copy of DQVII that's been sitting on my shelf for over a year was suddenly calling to me. So far, Prey is pretty much everything I want from an immersive sim. It's definitely more System Shock than Deus Ex but I'm starting to think I might actually like this formula better. Or at least, better than the modern version of Deus Ex. I'm really tempted to try the old System Shock games once I'm done with it. Dragon Quest VII isn't quite how I thought it would be. The only DQ I ever played is DQVIII and that was your typical JRPG with a main story. You're going after the villain to break the curse on your kingdom. Super straightforward stuff. DQVII, at least so far, doesn't have that same kind of core narrative to it. I'm just time travelling to random islands in the past and making them reappear in the present. So far every single island's story has been self-contained. I guess DQ fans call them "vignettes" or whatever. It's not what I expected but I'm enjoying it all the same.

I never said it was iconic, I said it was the CLOSEST thing they had to something actually iconic! You're twisting my words and you know it!! Face it, if Splinter Cell had a history of exclusivity with PlayStation rather than Xbox, we wouldn't be having this argument. Your ignorance of the series doesn't change the fact that Splinter Cell is Ubisoft's best series. It's the Blade Runner of Ubisoft games. It's actually brilliant but mainstream audiences are too dumb to realize it, so it keeps bombing! And yes, that meme was terrible... which means i love it!!!
-
The rabbids are minions level trash and I care about Sam Fisher way more than I ever cared about Ezio, Arnold or whoever the fuck else. Assassin's Creed is fine but it's the epitome of factory-line produced generic content. It's the antithesis of iconic, no matter how much Ubisoft insist otherwise. I haven't played Survive, so it's not a factor. My current opinion of MGS is based mostly on Phantom Pain. Like Mal said, it was simultaneously the series' worst and best game. The story was insulting trash that ended Kojima's run on a really bad note but the gameplay was god-tier. So, I ended up super disappointed with the game but still having a ton of fun with the gameplay. Splinter Cell Chaos Theory is up there with Thief 2 as one of the best stealth games ever made. Personal preferences aside, Splinter Cell is just stronger as a stealth game because it's not trying to be anything else. It's not having you hunt for fucking raccoons or complete balloon shooting side-missions or whatever other goddamn nonsense. You hide or you die. End of story.

How did it work for the Predator thing? Was it paid DLC or an in-game "event" kinda deal like the Gary Busey mission for Hitman? And could you play as the Predator?
-
The video doesn't need to say anything about Sam Fisher because Michael Ironside's voice + those night vision goggles are the closest thing Ubisoft have to something that's ACTUALLY iconic!!! And I did end up explaining it. So yeah, you're welcome! Oh and Splinter Cell > Metal Gear.
-
It's a teaser for Ghost Recon Wildlands with Sam Fisher, protagonist of Splinter Cell, in it. And I end it by predicting Splinter Cell at E3. I mean, what more could you possibly need?
-
Dude, what? I can understand not giving a shit about 3 but 4 is fantastic. Out of those I've played, it's the closest to being as good as the first one.
