I was bored last night, so I flipped the TV to G4 to see some pre-Comic Con stuff. AOTS was on, and they were talking about the Sega systems and some of the old games. They brought up how it was a jump in tech, the pricing, the changes from previous console choices, and some of the issues facing the system. A decent piece. I thought, 'Wow! AOTS isn't nearly as bad as I thought it was.' Then came the dribble. The next piece was a trip to Hasbro HQ to see the toys that will be exclusives to SDCC. Holy shit! It was basically a correspondent saying "Look at me! I'm on TV!" the entire time. Not too many details on the actual toys, because that would have interfered with her face time. Even though she was selected to do this report, she had no knowledge of anything going on, which is too often the case on AOTS. They hire women based upon personality and looks, not their knowledge and ability to connect with the audience on certain topics. This is just terrible. Just fucking terrible.

I read the article, but I felt like the author is just . . . overlooking the main issue. Globalization. It's happening with business as it's happening with social aspects. Case in point: Here in the US, we now have soccer on our TVs, and we don't have to have a huge satellite dish in our back yard to be able to view. This was an impossibility 10 years ago, even when we had bowling, tennis, golf, and women's volleyball already on our TV. Another case: We have, even in the farmland area I live in California, we have restaurants of all kinds of ethnicities. When I grew up, ethnic food was either Chinese or Mexican. No Indian. No Vietnamese. No Thai. Last case: My dad is hispanic. My mom is white from the Midwest. My wife is Russian-Armenian from Iran. My sister's husband is Philipino. No one sticks to one country anymore. We use words from so many countries in our house. We're all American, but we're not a solitary people.

I just saw a game that looks interesting: "Battle Bears -1" What I think it is: 3rd person shooter as cute bears. Should be interesting.

You know, I can't pick on Joel. He just works there and wants to be accepted. I know what that feeling is like. He's not someone I can dislike for any real reason. Now, disliking/picking on those that have done you wrong, that I can fully understand.
