  1. Christmas present to myself, to go along with a cheap TrackIR on Craigslist from a few months ago. Basically I'm a giant nerd. Found one of these on Ebay for 80 bucks, though (usually 160), so now I should be able to play DCS, IL2, and Flight Simulator X proper.
  2. Their first album was pretty good. Didn't realize there was a second one.
  3. Yeah, that's all garbage. He can say as much as he wants "the community wants this" and "the community wants that", but until he cites a bit more hard sources than "50 percent of people think it's perfect" and just where those surveys are conducted this seems like more of the same.
  4. Thank you to P4 for Crusader Kings 2, and a copy of the Humble THQ Bundle for Darksiders and Red Faction: Armageddon.
  5. Oh shit, totally forgot about this. Send me an add on Steam, unfortunately I've got some errands to run today but I'd be down some other time like next weekend. I'll create a thread in Event Planning too.
  6. That's awesome. Fingers crossed they might make some of the confirm messages in the inventory menus go away too when selling things.
  7. Levis 514's are still the only pair that really properly fits me. They're also one of the few I can still occasionally find in 31x34, which is good. It'd be a hell of a lot easier for me to buy pants if I just got fatter. \_(ツ)_/
  8. Got a 560 Ti and am running at nearly all high settings.
  9. Or he can just use the USB cable that came with the thing.
  10. Give him a CD or DVD case with a lousy drawing of a Hitman cover on the front. Then have a note inside saying something like "check steam!"
  11. My biggest complaint is just that the game suffers from the now expected Ubisoft feature creep, I suppose. I'm not complaining about the amount of features, I suppose I just wish they would have thought it out a bit more, as at the moment it seems like they just went totally overboard ala AC:Revelations. Money is 100% meaningless unless you need that MP5 now, and it feels like there's artificial walls in place to stop you from advancing along faster than the game would like you to. But I'm still having loads of fun with it, so I digress.
  12. Shaner, you noob. You can't even buy 2012 on Steam anymore. 2013 is where it's at. Get with the program.
  13. Yeah, that was how I felt about it as well. It didn't necessarily do anything better than any current open world games or series, but it was really really fun throughout, and that's reason enough for me to enjoy it.
  14. Started this today. It's pretty good. I'm not sure I like it as much as Far Cry 2 necessarily, but this is a far better game, I'd say. That said, there's some reeeeally irritating things about it. So I'm just going to bullet point the good/bad here I guess, since I'm too lazy to really write a whole paragraph about it. Good: Gunplay is still great, enemies react to bullets well and go down in a reasonable amount of shots, driving is fun, open world is lush and exciting. The hunting is a nice addition, although I wish I could find some fucking boars. The new characters are fantastic. Vass is going to make a lot of year end lists, and rightfully so. Bad: The pseudo-progression system they've hackneyed in is crap so far. It hasn't taken away from my enjoyment of the game much at all, but I feel like their "Let's throw tons of useless shit into a game and then try and justify it via weird story cuts" is as bad in this as it was in Assassin's Creed Revelations. I like the radio towers, I like the tattoo (even though it itself is a poor front for throwing in a leveling system), but limiting you from filling up an entire tree of the Tattoo without completing story missions first is kind of dumb. I can complete 90% of the side missions right now having only completed four or five main story missions, but if I want to level up my character to better complete those remaining 10% of side missions? Nope, too bad, better do some more story missions before you can swim 25% faster underwater. I guess I just wish Ubi had the balls to go all RPG or no RPG on this. There's obviously a leveling system in place, but locking down upgrades until you complete the respective story missions is dumb. The whole game right now feels like they've adapted the open world aspects to fit the scripting, rather than adapting the scripting to fit the open world. The "upgrading" of your inventory falls victim to the same skill issue, with you having to wait to upgrade certain ammo pouches until you complete the story mission allowing you to get the hide of some maneating shark or something. ' The missions are still kinda linear. There seems to be a half and half split so far between Crysis 2 levels of linear throughout (big corridor), and Far Cry's of the past "go here and kill this guy" style, which is okay, it's just even in those big corridor ones (which I actually don't mind), the game still takes over a bit towards the end and tosses in some scripted twist sometimes. One I can think of was after clearing out and entire area full of guys without even being spotted, the game triggers a cutscene telling me an alarm has gone off in the area I just cleared, sending an extra 10 guys my way. Oh, and they all already know where I am, so I guess it's time to put away that crossbow and take out the AK. Overall though I'm enjoying it. Story and gunplay are so far worlds ahead of Far Cry 1 or 2, but some of the backend stuff is really getting on my nerves already. Maybe it'll be better once I've finished all of it...
  15. Welp, caved and preordered this. I was totally ready to think it was shit, but after watching a couple gameplay videos of it recently it looks exactly like Far Cry 2, but better. And Far Cry 2 is one of my favorite games, so my expectations are now pretty high.
  16. Max Payne 3. The game was pretty mediocre for a Max Payne game, but the way the soundtrack tied all the levels together was just fantastic. And of course, that airport scene... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gklRWx38vrM&list=ELPZfygswYTfI& http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=FMDRTq_klnE&list=UL
  17. Sporkwaffles' Christmas Wishlist Steam ID: Luftwaffles Wishlist Country: America I'm a simulator nerd, currently playing ARMA 2 and the DCS series of combat flight sims religiously, but I like pretty much every type of game (except for those goddamn 2D indie platformers). Really anything will do, though, and I like to give a game the benefit of the doubt. Favorite games include the ARMA series, Battlefield series up until BF3, Planetside 1, Far Cry 2, Counter-Strike 1.6, Rise of Nations, Fallout New Vegas, and some other ones I can't remember off the top of my head. Really though I'm fine with anything. I'll gladly try any game gifted to me and even if I don't like it it's probably me being fickle rather than your poor judgement. Gifting elsewhere: Go for it. The only console I use is a PS3 (and I don't think you can gift?) but I use GOG, Gamersgate, Steam, whatever.
  18. A job. Somewhat related: a better work ethic.
  19. Let's say tentatively next sunday the 9th at 12PST. That's evening for UK folks, or use this fancy little link to convert it to your own time? I'd be happy to do a little rundown of the basics, otherwise we can all just hop in a server and fiddle around.
  20. I play ARMA on Saturday's regularly, so that day is usually full for me but Sundays work pretty well for me too and I'd be happy to just play with PXOD folks or run some sort of training if anyone's interested.
  21. Dean, if we were to have a PXOD PS2 night I could give you all a rundown. I've been playing since beta and play with a semi-serious group, and understand the game well enough. Voice coms are 100% essential though, so a mic is good if you've got one. So, if anyone's interested, timezone and times available?
  22. I'm a perfectionist, so I've been trying to make it though Ironman Classic without losing a country. Currently on save number 9, past the first terror mission, and about to lose France. I'm about ready to concede it's not possible and just keep going. Also you're a sissy. Losing one of my vets on saves 1-8 and watching the game spiral from there had to be one of my favorite parts of this game.
