    Windows 8

FDS covered this, and I'm not going to beat a dead horse, but this is just wrong. It's not to say Win 8 doesn't have its interface issues (madbass' complaint about the charms menu being used to shut down the computer is entirely valid IMO), but printing is definitely not one of them.

    Windows 8

I get the feeling many of the Windows 8 haters have never used it.
  4. On my Nexus 7 I can hold the home button and move it upward and it launches Google Now. I'm not sure if that's a system-wide thing or exclusive to the Nexus 7.
  5. I'd do it. Can't guarantee I'd be able to make it with work and all, but I'd definitely try.
  6. Shit is going down in Damascus. Rumor has it Israel has attacked and declared war on Syria. God I hope America doesn't get involved.
  7. Let his love pop a cap in your butt.
  8. It was okay, but the FOV was godawful. I had to quit about halfway through. Although I did find leadup to a boss battle pretty hilarious.
  9. It's The Eraser with way better bass lines. Yep, that's about right.
  10. Little late to the party, especially as a big Radiohead fan... It's a pretty good album, though. Feels a lot like Yorke's solo efforts of late, and I wish he would've branched out a bit with the talent he had behind him, but eh, it works and is a pretty nice evolution of his stuff era The Eraser.
  11. I think it'll flop. The way I see it, it appeals to a few markets. 1) Those with a passing interest in VR and disposable income who will use it for stuff like TF2 or any other games that choose to support it. 2) Those into flight sims, racing sims, and the like where the Rift will take advantage of features that are already there and don't need to be hacked into the game (like TF2's implementation of the players' head moving independent of the body vs. Arma's native support). The problem with that is that group 1 will likely lose interest after finding out it doesn't really help with much other than immersion (so it won't do for folks looking to be the best at everything), and I don't think the device will sell enough at its current pricepoint to warrant devs adding support for it in in future titles (see TrackIR support in current FPSs or racing games). In addition, group 2 is and will always be an incredibly niche market, and although they don't have any trouble splashing the cash on expensive accessories like the Rift, most of my friends into those types of games already have loads of accessories they're happy with, including multiple monitor setups and TrackIRs (which won't work in tandem with the Rift).
  12. If I'm thinking of the same one (Paseo?), they sell out pretty damn fast some weekends too. Either way, it's probably a better policy than running bread back and forth from other locations.
  13. That happens every time something like this happens, unfortunately.
  14. Apparently both had strong Muslim leanings. And here I was hoping that wasn't going to be the case.
  15. I don't think that was it. http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-us-canada-22211764 Apparently a MIT police officer was shot tonight, so it could have been a manhunt for that guy. Though apparently the suspect in that was wearing a gray hoodie and was a white male, somewhat similar to those released FBI photos. So it could be the same guy.
  16. Big Fish hires all the time, Valve is there, as is ArenaNet, Bungee, Gas Powered, Monolith, PopCap, Runic, Uber, and (heheheh) Zynga, just to name a few. I would never try to go into the industry right now, as I don't know how many of those studios will be around in the future, but I doubt this guy won't be able to find a job.
  17. Didn't we play with G&K in multiplayer? Mason stomped us and we only got about 75% of the way through, but there was religion stuff involved.
  18. Neostarr, you and me could be Far Cry 2 bros. Probably my favorite shooter of this generation (I don't really count Arma as a shooter). Really, the biggest issue I see with it is they tried to fix some of Far Cry 2's flaws, but went waaaaay too far. People thought the map was difficult to navigate/you couldn't put down waypoints? Let's use the hyper cluttered map from Assassin's Creed! People thought the checkpoints respawned too much and made travel too frantic? Let's make the checkpoints never respawn ever! People didn't think there was enough side content? Let's add in missions that consist of you driving from one place to another? And so on.
  19. They just went way overboard on everything, I thought. The side content was boring as hell (go here, kill this guy, go back), and the leveling seemed totally hacked in. Add to that the perk progression being heavily tied to story content (can't get certain perks until you've completed some story missions, but there's enough side content available for you to get enough XP). The engine and gameplay was fantastic, but it didn't seem like they thought the whole thing through in a lot of places. Kind of like everything Ubisoft has made since AC:Brotherhood, come to think of it... Don't get me wrong, I enjoyed the game, but definitely not as much as I did Far Cry 2.
