  1. I haven't really gotten a 'noir' vibe from it, unless you mean that by being hillbilly it's a li'l bit silly (kind of like Big Lebowski compared to Miller's Crossing). Though I can see some of the darker elements are there in the background. I guess it does have a nice mix of lighter 'stories of the week' while the other character-focused stuff is a little more serious; just that the first episode was all about the one thing, without any levity. Sort of reminds me of how Joss Whedon was told to make Mal a little cheerier than he was in the Firefly pilot. It's entertaining enough anyway.
  2. You think the TV adverts won't be shooty shooty? It's clearly a calculated marketing move that doesn't affect the content of the game. And if the people are selective then they are, by that very definition, not at whom the cover is aimed. Levine doesn't even say that they expect people to base a buying decision off of the cover, just that they want people to at least pick up and look at the back of the box, too. From there, it can go either way but at least it has generated interest among people who may not have even given it a look.
  3. It seems deceitful but, really, you might as well try and 'convert' other gamers from non-sales anyway. And, again, we're talking about people who aren't linked into the greater gaming culture, so wouldn't really have that big an impact if they did want to complain. One of the Dishonored devs retweets what sounds like lots of people surprised at how much they liked the game after being drawn in by the marketing. Everyone else will be already be buying it based on its other merits. Plus, from what I've seen, it looks to have made the shooting more satisfying without sacrificing anything else.
  4. Started watching Justified. Really glad they lightened the tone a bit since the pilot; a lot more entertaining with the off-kilter sensibility. And there always seems to be a nice roster of guest stars episode to episode. I have seen Garrus' voice actor have his teeth pulled out by Cameron from Ferris Bueller, heh.
  5. I dunno. It sounds more like they'll be listening to the community to see what sort of covers to make themselves, not sourcing them. Although, it's oddly phrased.
  6. I'm saying it seems odd that it's too late to print a double-sided cover (though I guess it's not impossible that's all set), as if that's the only course of action left.
  7. There was no doubt as to what the boxart's intention was. As for further plans, I guess it's late enough that this seems the only option?
  8. Fantastic album, LittlePirate! The lyrics to Flowers Are Pretty are great.

  10. I know tomorrow is the best day, but if anyone does want to play within the next few hours then just let me know. Cool? Cool.
  11. Jeans are made from denim. Named after the French town 'Nimes' (de Nimes/of Nimes). That is my contribution.
  12. So, I am due a phone upgrade. I figure I should get a smartphone but have not used one before (except fiddling with a Lumia. Ugh!). I have no clue about these things. Any recommendations? Friends suggest a Galaxy S3 or Nexus 4.

@WaS: As established, Hot Heart is in UK. The Note 2 is free with a plan. (99% of phones are). The GS3 is on a cheaper plan now though (it is half a year older).

You're fucking kidding me the Note 2 comes free in Britain? I'm moving to Britain

After some searching and friend-consulting, I went for the GS3 in the end. The Note 2 looked nice but I think it's ever so slightly too big. Thanks for all the help, guys!

  13. Nah, I linked a video a few pages back about how the rifles compare and it shows the difference between scoped and non. Kills in about 4 shots, I believe. Since that I seem to recall people having confirmed that only one shot needs to be scoped. Did a quick search and found a video Not sure if it translates into singleplayer exactly the same, but I figure it's useful to know.
  14. With the lightrifle, you need at least one of the shots to be scoped to do more damage or something like that. Even on normal they're bullet sponges.
  15. Computers can't cry, idiot. They're machines. You've been watching too much BSG.
  16. Yeah, I didn't actually believe it was a parody. I just wish it were...
  17. You seem to think I am endorsing marketing. I am not. I am merely pointing out that both covers and marketing can hold as little value as the other. Casting aspersions on a developer because of it, is what I deem excessive, especially since you already have a decent impression of the game anyway. Obviously, I'm not saying you can't voice your opinion. I am only offering another perspective on it.
  18. But then you might as well dismiss films based on the poster. There are a myriad other ways to get an idea about a game. Hell, even the marketing campaign will tell you more than the cover. There comes a point where you make a judgement call as to how you perceive the product. Does the cover contradict what you know about the game or does it confirm some negative impressions? I'm OK with expressing distaste, but this is going a little overboard.
  19. Forget the Templars and the revolution, I'm going to build up my homestead and look for treasure!

I was talking about both! Also, no homestead spoilers plx. It is like a soap opera for me!
