  1. I believe this advice is best.
  2. I meant anyone else besides Chaos and Orks & Goblins. But thanks for the videos, much appreciated!
  3. Gears of War is fun! Looks pretty cool, and you do seem to have to be a bit smart about how you confront crowds, but I'm worried it would just get a bit samey. I've seen them showing other races in trailers but I don't know if that was just misleading marketing or not (as in, it's just showing all sorts of things a space marine faces). A friend said they saw Chaos in there; does anyone know if there is anything besides those and Orks and Goblins? I suppose the story would get a bit convoluted if they threw more in. And it has the option to 'paint' your own armour? That's wicked.
  4. The best (pre)review. http://thegeekshallinheritthemirth.wordpress.com/2011/08/22/deus-ex-human-reviewlution/
  5. Yeah, it carries over some gear but makes it a lot weaker (so as not to unbalance the start) and it remembers one major choice that doesn't really have an impact beyond letting you avoid a fight...that you would only encounter after a certain decision.
  6. I'm sure there are always plenty of retail jobs coming and going, but that's not really a 'career' any sane person should want. Since you're young though it can be a good way to get some experience rather than big gaps of 'no work' on your CV, plus you can usually switch into the office roles department stores have and go from there. The other option is to join a temp agency. I know friends who have found regular jobs via temp work. It really depends on whether you just want a job or a career. If you're interested in creative stuff I'd be looking for internships at places. One of my sisters went on to a pretty good job after doing an internship and another is currently doing one with some kind of gallery that David Byrne is involved in.
  7. I couldn't really pick one over the other, although Hot Fuzz certainly has a more 'positive' ending...
  8. I prefer this to the original. The bass is also pretty 'simple' but sounds really good.
  9. Been playing Gears of War 2 with a friend who hasn't completed the game before. We finished the first game the other day but the fool had switched the difficulty right down to casual for the last section. We'd done the toughest parts on hardcore already! I guess that gets it out of the way but I wanted to re-earn the achievements I'd got when I played on my old offline account many years ago.
  10. It's not very well sign-posted but they're only for a quest, I think. You set one down when harpies swoop down, one will then carry it off to a nest, where it explodes. The other confusing thing is that the quest is split between two or three areas. The first is the main quarry that you've probably seen. There is another area on the other side of Vergen where you cross over some water and harpies swoop down. If you follow a path up a hill on the right you find a tower and a stronger type of harpy guarding a crystalised dream. I don't think you use any traps here (could be wrong) but finding the crystal should then lead to one of the dwarves opening up a cave behind the big door at the bottom of the quarry. In there are some more nests, the harpy queen and some other quest-related stuff with viewing dreams kept in crystals...you only need one particular crystal but be sure to look out for one, involving a dwarf dreaming he is being chased, that opens up another questline called 'Baltimore's Dream', I think. Phew!
  11. Some people may have seen this on RPS' XBLIG outreach thingy but the original flash game is pretty cool too. http://www.doubledutchgames.com/speedrunner

  12. I'm not sure if you've actually played the demo but at moments it was just 'here are two gaps to jump' and then onto another fight. Plus, if it doesn't work with the given controls I'd say it's ill-advised. Platforming just does not seem at all relevant to the gameplay and the annoying checkpointing ('Missed a jump? Go back to before the first fight') I experienced in the demo did not help matters.
  13. I've been working my way through that documentary and it's been pretty interesting. I would actually quite like to see a third-person more action game-like approach to Halo but, oh, well... I can't imagine how terrifying that uninstall bug problem must have been. Probably exaggeration, but costing in the region of $1mil? Yikes. As for Activision being the new publisher, Mal, I believe Bungie have stated they will retain autonomy. I doubt Activision would do much different, or could do worse than MS.
  14. Can't believe I'm bothering to reply to this. 'In a platforming game' would be the answer.
  15. Hmm, usually everyone complains that the first game takes a while to get going. Good to hear you're enjoying it though.
  16. I don't know how to follow WTF so I will just say... I pre-ordered Deus Ex: HR for PC But I was considering pre-ordering TWO other games. Figured I'd wait until I got the reward points for those, so I can save a bit of money as I go (I know, I know, I'm ashamed!)
  17. Haha. I wish. It's just a good resource.
  18. I believe you're looking for Derek Zoolander's Center For Kids Who Can't Read Good (And Who Wanna Learn How To Do Other Stuff Good Too)
  19. Could be over 40 hours. http://howlongtobeat.com/gamebreakdown.php?gamename=The%20Witcher
  20. Doesn't matter if you're late. Hope you enjoy it!
  21. Far be it from me to wholly trust an IGN review, but the guy does raise some concerns I had. http://uk.xbox360.ign.com/articles/118/1188056p1.html 'El Shaddai is a button-masher, and while you could certainly utilize some cursory combos and skills at your leisure, why would you if the game never really forces you to? You could just mash X over and over again while occasionally blocking an enemy attack or parrying out of the way of danger.' 'the game has only three weapons' 'There's a lot going on in the background of El Shaddai that you simply cannot see during your first playthrough, including a points meter, a power-up system that allows you to use special attacks, and even a gauge that governs your ability to revive yourself after dying. But the only suggestion you'll have from the game on your overall health is the status of your armor.' I think the demo gave a good indication of how clunky the combat and control was, as well as containing all the weapons and pointless platforming.
  22. Yeah, I hate to be negative or harsh...but the demo was fucking dreadful. Mind-numbingly boring and clunky combat that really would've benefitted from a HUD, terrible platforming with an unhelpful camera, and I had no interest in whatever story it was trying to tell. Plus, for all the visual boastings, the character models don't mesh with the surroundings.
