  1. OK, so there go any hopes for a non-lethal playthrough, but it was so worth it because
  2. Yes, but some stories are structured so that seeing/reading them again with later knowledge gives you a whole new perspective on things. And in game terms, there is the fun of just playing them, without the story. But to each his own.
  3. Chewie, for you, is anything rated justly?
  4. Waste of time for any non-US residents as well. 'All standard Gawker Media contest rules apply, naturally.' 'Open to US residents only. All winners must be 18 years of age or older, unless otherwise stated and/or posted.'
  5. He'd only been there since 2008 and had previously worked on MGS4. It sounds more like personal issues and you couldn't hold it against anyone. Halo is what it is and if you want to do something different, you'd need to go elsewhere. Although, the way his leaving has been phrased does suggest negativity but I don't have high hopes for Halo 4 anyway.
  6. Some interesting videos I'd not seen before. Funny that games do have this 'barrier to entry', even beyond being able to use a controller. I know he mentions that element of tropes/conventions but it just goes to show how different it really is to film.
  7. Just driving around in GTA IV brings back good memories. Otherwise I occasionally return to Carmageddon, or stuff like Spider-Man: Web of Shadows and Prototype because there is fun to be had in just moving around. Sonic 2 or 3 are good ones also. Nothing that I would get too involved in or play to completion though. Also, funny that three of those are based in 'New York'.
  8. I think this is why I have apparently played for 26 hours and am only just past the second boss. I spend ages exploring EVERYWHERE in order to loot and hack. I always have at least 4 praxis points spare in order to adapt to certain situations.
  9. Man, Hendrix is amazing! Anyway, blast from the past right here: Except it was called Probotector over here, and you were ROBOTS. Think I may prefer this version though.
  10. Hilarity, courtesy of Johnny: And something else I found, related to the first mission:
  11. For Chewie "Is a wookiee a bear, Control?" EDIT: And I'll add a classic in. A long sequence but well worth it. "You brought two too many" http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VDUbBMe1Nbg If you've not seen that, there's something wrong with you.
  12. Just finished watching 'Four Lions' on TV. Great film. Couldn't ask for a better writing team than Chris Morris, Sam Bain and Jesse Armstrong (with Simon Blackwell) too. Tough job to make a comedy about suicide bombers.
  13. IGN liked it, and called it 'Fallout 3 with zombies', though it seems a little less 'written' than that. Looks somewhere between Borderlands and Fallout 3 'with zombies' if you want to make odd comparisons.
  14. I know it's a bit finicky with where you have to be to grab things from, but this is really finicky and even opening the locker wasn't showing the usual prompt. Plus, a lever for deactivating a loose electrical wire did not display the 'Use' and took a hammering of the E key before it worked. Unfortunately, crouching is not an option when the locker item is on the upper shelf. Means I might have to miss an energy bar (never actually used more than one cell at any given time) and some credits. Just hope this bug doesn't cause problems at critical moments... I have also been saving like mad though. Definitely would not have stuck with this game if it didn't have quicksave/quickload.
  15. I have noticed a few minor bugs in the game. Very occasionally the character won't take cover. I know it's not that you just can't cover on certain sections because I've reloaded and redone bits to see it work then. Just today, I'm finding that the 'Use' prompt is not always appearing on a few things and I can't seem to grab anything out of lockers, along with the prompt not showing. Hopefully that is just restricted to this part of the game, or will have fixed itself the next time I load up the game.
  16. Which also reminded me of a great moment in Ong-Bak
  17. If you're after fight scenes, you can't get much better than anything directed or choreographed by the legendary Yuen Woo-ping. All of these fight scenes are fairly ridiculous but wonderfully inventive. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=si38iVpAdP8 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xsTQeyQuEUo
  18. Yes, but they're set up in the earlier bit. EDIT: I should probably add that I watched Brick last night. I'd seen it before, years ago, but it is a fantastic film.
  19. Ah, sneaky. Thanks for that. What an odd minigame.
  20. I must be blind or stupid (possibly both) because I don't see it.
