I haven't seen one used in US media from the past 40 or so years, either. But I've known folks in the Midwest who own and use egg cups. Mostly I've seen them used in restaurants, though. Frying eggs in bacon grease is the correct way to cook them, however.

Ethan again generalizes his experience amongst the barbarian tribes of Kansas and Texas to all Americans and gets it wrong. We definitely have egg cups in the USA and people eat soft-boiled eggs here. Soft-boiled or poached eggs are also popular in a variety of dishes in areas of America with learned people of culture and taste. I mean, one of America's signature breakfast dishes, eggs benedict, is sometimes made with soft-boiled eggs (although poached eggs are superior). People here tend to like their bread and runny yolks done via fried eggs on toast rather than eggs and soldiers, though; frying an egg is much faster and less finicky than soft-boiling or poaching (which are easy, I know, but frying is even easier and Americans love fried shit). The egg white thing has more to do with unjustified panic about the cholesterol in egg yolks, as well as the fact that egg whites have fewer calories. It's silly, and egg yolks are the best. Unfortunately, the myths about egg yolks being less healthy have had staying power, although most experts now will tell you eggs are healthy, especially when they're cooked without unhealthy oils.

TTS has voice chat, I believe, as well. Although I have nothing against Discord. Never played Zombicide, but I'd like to give it a try! Edit: yeah, my evening times will never work for you folks across the pond. I think times like 8 a.m. my time, 1 p.m. your time, might work best.

To take the discussion out of the "Games You Bought" subforum, I'd like to play some virtual boardgames this summer and am willing to schedule chunks of time in advance. Here is my general availability, all times local to New York City, Eastern Daylight Time: I am usually available weeknights between 10:45 pm and 1:00 am. Not a lot of time, I know, but it's my traditional gaming/watching TV time. Tomorrow, Friday, July 7, I am free from 7 p.m. onwards. On Saturday July 8 I am not free until after 8 p.m. On Sunday, July 9, I am free from 8:00 a.m. until 12:00 p.m., but the 12:00 p.m. cutoff is strict. The following weekend of July 14, 15, and 16, I am free all weekend except Sunday night, which is the Game of Thrones season premiere. I am also free the entire weekend of 21, 22, and 23rd until around 3 p.m. on the 23rd. I am free on July 30th, aside from when Game of Thrones is on. I am willing to play any game, keeping in mind that I am out of practice and have not played a bunch of the TTS games I actually have bought. I would be willing to buy almost any game suggested, so don't worry about whether I own a game or not. I was thinking of playing Scythe first, just because I saw a group of folks playing it this past weekend, but I am willing to play just about any game. I am most resistant to fun social games over TTS, like Secret Hitler or cards against Humanity; I just think they wouldn't work as well virtually as in person.

Except that it is known as "July 4th" or even "July four" to many Americans. I have no idea why the US insists on switching the day and the month and will not defend the practice.
-
I can't play TTS this weekend, but I can carve out time the following weekend. Otherwise I'm available too late at night for anyone across the pond.
-
I saw Baby Driver on Tuesday and Edgar Wright gave a Q and A afterwards. The movie is super fun and Wright is hella adorable.
-
Yes. And some of the DLC requires all players to own it. I believe Scythe is one such game. Fortunately, the DLC is generally cheap and also usually gets big price cuts during Steam Sales.
-
Just bought a bunch of tabletop simulator dlc. Hope somebody wants to learn how to play Scythe with me sometime.

I move the blue chair to face the TV when I game. Edit: fixed.

I like how you use your space up without making it feel cluttered. What's your GPU? I also 100% understand why folks like vertical monitors, I just can't use them without feeling super frustrated my their verticalness and getting a headache.
-
Are all three monitors hooked into a single computer? Also, vertical monitors make my head hurt.

Rick and Morty is goddamned fantastic.
-
Sorry. Habit from the very earliest days of my internet use back in the late 90's when a forum I was on was very strict about double-posts.
-
Yeah, it's FFVI. I just wonder whether it will be the original SNES version or a fixed version without some of the glitches or the wonderfully bad translations.

Smartest move Nintendo has made in years: https://www.theverge.com/2017/6/26/15874154/nintendo-snes-classic-edition-release-date-price-announced I think I may actually try to get one of these, unless Ninty makes too few.

People in more urbane and educated parts of the U.S say it correctly, e.g. "Destiny's storytelling is really half-assed." Although "half-ass" is correct as a verb, e.g.: "Don't half-ass laundry duty; do separate cold-water and warm-water loads." It does not surprise me the Kansans and other Southerners would half-ass the pronunciation of the adjective, though.
-
All I know is that I want nothing to do with what sounds like the stupid but bonkers stories of the previous games.
-
Not gonna find pics for each one, but I got: Star Ruler 2 The Jackbox party trilogy (in case anyone here was serious about doing some PXOD Jackbox games) Domina Resident Evil VII GotG Telltale Series Walking Dead Season 3 Total War: Warhammer DLC Probably not done yet, either. Eyeing Nier: Autoamta, even though I never played any of the prequels.

@TheMightyEthan For me, the fundamental difference is that it's lab-grown, so, yes, even if it were indistinguishable from real meat, I would differentiate it so long as it did not actually come from a dead animal. For the record, I think that's a *good* thing and I would happily eat lab-grown meat if it were affordable and tasty, even if it did not taste quite like natural meat.
-
Hmmm. No. It would gross me out. Nothing logical about it, just would be gross, is all. But while we're on the lab-frown meat subject, let me opine. I agree with Mal: lab-grown meat is fundamentally different than natural meat. Although I would call pig-like lab meat "pork" and cow-like lab meat "beef," I wouldn;t call it cow meat or pig meat (or chicken, or lamb, or whatever). I would be totally fine with eat lab-grown meats of all kind, but if it were labeled "human," I would still be grossed out.

The fuck you talking about, Ethan? "Hot" starts at 80 degrees (27 C) if it's humid. If it's not humid at all, then "hot" begins in the upper 80s, maybe 88 degrees (around 31 C). I am going by the "if it makes Mr. GOH! sweat just to stand around) measure of "hot." I like cold weather, and I have to wear a suit outside and in the subway no matter the weather, so I admit I may be an outlier but, damn, unless it's super dry, I think most folks in the US would call the upper 80s "hot."
-
I mean, sure, I understand why people are disappointed. I just don't understand what they actually expected. Hoped for a good story and lore? Sure. But there has been no evidence to support any expectation of interesting lore from D2.
-
You mean people are surprised Bungie is shelving the obviously half-baked lore and story from Destiny 1 in favor of a more accessibly generic plotline? It's like people didn't read about the shitshow that was Destiny 1's development and writing.
