You're not the only one. To be completely honest, Dwarf Fortress can feck off for all I care, I can see the great potential of the game but it's so stubbornly difficult to pick up that it's insulting and then there's the bunch of elitists in the community that will spit on anyone for criticising that aspect of it. Give me a more intuitive interface and some half-way decent graphics as default and I might be tempted to play but as it stands, I don't have any great intent to returning to climb that gargantuan slope to play a game that's more trouble than it's worth. Well, it is an alpha. GUI and interface is the last part of development because features keep being added and changed. Since it's a one-man project and insanely complex, the dev wants to finish the core game first. The community is generally pretty kind; I apologize if anyone insulted you for your frustration with what everyone admits is a frustrating and fiddly and sometimes downright terrible interface. That said, what's it like going through life with a brain that can't even handle a simple text game?

Yeah, my parents have an Education Discount. My mother works for the local school in Southlake, and they have a deal with Dell. Just make sure you get the best deals off the site. I remember that navigating to Alienware from the educational site got me better deals than just putting in the education code or whatever at Alienware. It was confusing. Ultimately I got it with a work-related discount rather than using my parent's educational accounts. I'd suggest the new i5 model, maybe getting a slightly bigger HDD than the default 320GB. I have the older i5 model and love it dearly.

First, off, find the Dell education discounts/sales site (it used to be a separate site that led to a separate Alienware site, IIRC). I have the i5 version of the m11x and it runs pretty much everything I throw at it. With educational discounts, you could probably find it for $800 or $900.

The people who dislike it are mere haters of good storytelling and characterization. FO3 was a travesty of storytelling and F:NV is far better. I dunno about the state of the PS3 version, but the PC version is stable. Might wanna save once every hour or so, but that's true for any game.

@AgamemnonV2: The requirement to swear an oath was abolished in 1932 by Eammon DeValera. Even before then, only those entering TDs and Senators had to swear an oath. Swearing an oath is not required to be an Irish citizen and it's not implied if you are an Irish citizen.

I live in the US. I think that having children recite the pledge is creepy, and a problem.
I am neither nationalist, nor am I religious. This would seem to demonstrate that making kiddies say the pledge doesn't have much effect.
The US as a whole is extremely religious and extremely nationalist. This would seem to argue that something, possibly the pledge, causes Americans value these ideals highly.

I think MS will suck it up and do Blu Ray. the data capacity disparity between Blu Ray and DVD already fucks with multiplat development. The lower capacity of the DVD may indeed even become a graphics-quality bottleneck if these new consoles can deal with complex and big textures.

My original post was based on outdated information; last time I checked, there wasn't an association handling all Blu Ray tech licensing, but that was more than a year ago. MS (and those publishing games for MS's next platform) would just have to pay the Blu-Ray, uh, consortium its regular prices. I bet it would be worth it so as not to be left behind.

When does Sony's patent expire? Do Nintendo and MS really wanna pay their rival millions in licensing fees? Would Sony license the tech to rivals without charging so much it isn't worth the candle? Sony are not the only ones who own the tech. But the way patents work is that you have to get license permission from every patent holder. Fortunately there is a Blu-Ray licensing group that all the patent holders put together. The prices are pretty crazy, though, compared to DVD.

Bigger and more open level designs and better AI are what I crave. And those are bottlenecked by the crappy CPUs and obscenely low memory assets of this generation's consoles. The memory also severely limits the variety assets, which is partly why most alien races in Mass Effect are mono-gendered, for example. The push for new hardware isn't primarily about graphics for me; it's about the hope that with more resources, devs will make games that look good and are, well, bigger and more versatile.

Personally, what draws ME to her is that she is funny, believable, charming, and not overtly sexualized. You never seen an INCH of her skin. Seeing her face after I've invested time in a relationship with her, however, would be appreciated. I know it's hard if not impossible to please everyone... but you could say that about ME3 as a whole. That doesn't mean the game shouldn't be made, that doesn't mean they shouldn't try. You may not see an inch of skin, Six, but , oh, those hips.

You say "also." Could you elaborate on the other meaning(s)? I think the DnD/fantasy meaning of "bigger and nastier" is what he's referring to. Yes, dire means the same in the US as in the not-US. You folks over in Albion and Eire just use it more frequently and wantonly.
