HZD has been a rousing success and an expansion/sequel (I bet expansion) is in the works. http://www.polygon.com/2017/3/16/14945792/horizon-zero-dawn-launch-sales-ps4 This is good news. I like the IP a lot and I was very intrigued by some of the fluff about the world beyond the oseram/carja/nora/banuk.

I'll be getting the trial over the weekend and checking out the game, even though I can't cancel my greymarket preorder. Edit: I've never understood "try-hard" as a putdown. I have no real issues with Walker's writing style, but I do fear for the writing style in Mass Effect and Dragon Age going forward. The combat may be better, but if "better" means "ever more like a traditional third-person shooter," I won't be very impressed.

Final Fantasy XV for a discount because, as I have said before, I have no self-control.

Early previews are decidedly mixed. RPS's John Walker really hated the opening hours, and I trust his judgment on RPGs, generally. https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2017/03/14/mass-effect-andromeda-review-opening-hours/ PC Gamer is also mixed: http://www.pcgamer.com/we-have-mixed-feelings-about-the-first-few-hours-of-mass-effect-andromeda/ Kinda regret preordering.

Horizon" Zero Dawn. Loved it, aside from some of the voice acting and facial animations. I was way overleveled for the second half of the game. Cannot wait for the sequel.
-
Huh. The behemoth is different. I just didn't notice for some reason. Huh.
-
For the non-corrupted, my strategy is to knock off their claws with the explosive slingshot amped up with +damage and +tear mods. Oh, also being overleveled has helped. Side question: why can't the game make up its mind about what to call Tramplers? Some of the text and audio refers to them as Behemoths, while the map and other in-game text refers to them as Tramplers. It's a dumb oversight and confusing. I get why 'trampler' is more in line with naming scheme, since it describes what they do, but I like "Behemoth."

So, really weird. This is a main quest spoiler, but not an endgame spoiler.

My read is that Edit: After doing some reading up,

It's kinda amazing how great X Men stuff can be when Fox lets good directors/producers/showrunners have control. Legion and Logan are both pretty damned excellent.
-
Logan. Took them nine tries, but they finally made a great X men movie.
-
But can they out space Nazi the original space Nazi, Ashley?
-
Just earned the free hat. Not sure if it was worth it.

I just came here to say: FUCK corrupted Rockbreakers.

She prefers that you run up and whack them with the spear?

First reviews of Iron Fist are out. It's apparently garbage, and that's from nerd-friendly reviewers. Not surprised.

I always wanna call it UEFA, personally.

Did you do anything that would make the drive wake up your PC? Are you turning off the PC totally, or just making it sleep? Seems like something with USB devices being able to turn on the PC; maybe turn that off in your UEFI?

I have no self control and I got it for $44 off of cdkeys, although it won't unlock until the worldwide release on the 23rd.

With the PS4 and Xbone, a sequel was inevitable. I know what they said, it's just what they said was less-than-credible for a console game.
-
Why? It's a new game and it boggles the mind that anyone would expect that their paid non-gameplay DLC would carry over. See: sucker, one born every minute.
-
I followed the initial rollout, and I never got the sense the sequels would be expansions. Was that something said early on before the internal reboot?
-
I do not understand why this surprised anyone. A new game means new, or at least changed and rebalanced classes built upon what the developers learned from the first fame. I mean, it's not just an expansion with an increased level cap. And of course the publisher won't let anything you bought with real money transfer because they either don't want to remake the same stuff for 2 or they want to sell it to you again for money because you are a sucker, as evidenced by the fact you bought microtransaction cosmetic shit in a game that cost $60 in the first place.

C'mon, Thursday. The game isn't unadulterated excellence; the voice acting and character animation in conversations can be pretty mediocre. I love the game a lot, but its many successes make its few shortcomings glaringly obvious. Edit: But, to reiterate; the combat is magnificent. I'm around level 25 and going after multiple large machines in one go still feels exhilarating and dangerous. Whether using the bow or one of the other weapons (I like the slingshot, personally), combat is always fun and fast-paced. The bits of text from the old world are great, too. Seems like the Ancients had it coming.

Whoa, that dongle is cheap as hell on Amazon right now. It's taking all my willpower not to order it for unspecified future use.
