  1. Hey Brits, is anyone in the UK reporting about how Prince Andrew is a pedophile and raped an American minor trafficker by Ghislaine Maxwell and Jeffery Epstein according to unsealed court documents, including a photo of him with the minor?
  2. I am excited for Fire Emblem, which feels weird.

I am actually holding off because EVERYONE has said it's too easy.  And Nintendo said they're adding a higher difficulty by Free DLC... eventually.  But we don't know when.  And the game doesn't let you move up in difficulty mid file.  So this might be more of a Christmas present to myself type situation.

@FMW So I completed it twice; once on normal and once on hard, but the hard playthrough was New Game + which makes the non-combat parts of the game easier. There were maps that were challenging on hard to the point that I even had to retreat and reconfigure my army a couple times in order not lose any units. But it was still a bit easier than, say, XCOM or XCOm 2. But I still really really enjoyed the game.

@Mr. GOH! No kidding you played through that game TWICE?  It's huge!

I'm still gonna wait for now.  I'm waist deep in Tokyo Mirage Sessions and then Dragon Quest XI is locked in as my next thing.  But Fire Emblem is absolutely a when not an if.  The video game gods are being really good to me the back half of this year, there's lots of stuff specifically just for me.

  3. Am I bad for the schadenfreude I feel due to Anthem's abject failure?

Eh, we all have these moments. But at least it's not Fallout 76; it's just sad.

Yes and no? I mean, you ARE bad but not specifically because of this.

I'll be interested to see if their second push at Anthem relevance will take at all. So far there hasn't been a big budget game that launched so bad it couldn't build an audience later.  The Division, Diablo III, Rainbow Six Seige, FF XIV, Destiny, and For Honor all launched in various states of disrepair.  Even Battlefront 2 leveled out.

  4. Baldur's Gate 3, motherfucker!

  5. Do we need to hide any of the discussions of that trailer and the fallout from Endgame behind spoiler tags any longer? I think everyone who particiaptes in this subforum has seen it or is already avoiding this thread.
  6. I dunno. I've been to loud shows in several parts of the country. The first loud theater I recall was for Baz Luhrmann's Romeo + Juliet in a small midwestern town.
  7. @Mister Jack Alamo is once if those tastes that serves food and drinks during the movie so there are theater workers always in the theater. The no talking and no cell phone policy is very prominent, usually in the form of lots of warnings on screen before the film as well as a verbal warning from your server if you tell him or her it's your first visit to an Alamo. Google Alamo Drafthouse no talking videos and you'll see the sort of warnings they give the audience. To be fair, the no talking, no late arrivals, no kids, no cell phone policy is a huge draw to Alamo for many folks, so the audience is generally aware and happy to comply. @Atomsk88
  8. @deanb It depends on the movie and audience - different places have different expectations. I am scheduled to ser it again in an Alamo Drafthouse that has a strict quiet policy. This morning I saw it in a big chain cinema house known for younger and louder audiences for these sorts of movies.
  9. Okay, here's my post-Captain Marvel and post-endgame ranking of the MCU: Elite Tier: GotG Ragnarok Spider-Man Endgame Black Panther Winter Soldier Civil War Good fun tier: Iron Man 1 Avengers Captain America Infinity War Ant-Man and the Wasp Captain Marvel Meh Tier: Doctor Strange GotG Vol II Iron Man 3 Ant-Man Age of Ultron Garbage Tier: Iron Man 2 Hulk Thor Thor: the Dark World Caught Endgame this morning and I liked it way more than Infinity War. It is a very fitting end to the 22-movie Infinity Saga. The theater was packed for my 9:00 a.m. showing, a mix of kids, adults, and adults who clearly grew up with the MCU. The movie is very, very much for the fans and it delivers. I will undoubtedly have more thoughts after I it again in a few days with some friends.
  10. LOL, employment is low but the job market is dominated by shitty low-paying jobs. To be fair, automation is to blame for only a small part of that, but saying unemployment is low in the U.S. with qualification is misleading. The central issue with automation 'taking' jobs is that it does displace individual workers who most often will not be able to find a comparable job or a job wit comparable pay and benefits for years or ever. Yes, the aggregate data can be spun to look good, but individuals are hurt by lost jobs and our society has no good way to help them.
  11. FUCK YES. I played the hell outta V:TM - BL back in the 00s and since one of its lead writers is on the job, along with a raft of other talented folks, I am looking forward to the successor!
  12. Where do people have data caps on their cable or fiber ISPs in the US? I have never had one and I've had cable internet in Illinois, Wisconsin, Minnesota, Iowa, DC, Virginia, and New York.
  13. Word on the street is Disney hired him back months ago but delayed announcing it until the fox merger was finalized so the right-wing noise machine that got him canned in the first place couldn't essentially petition Trump to make trouble for the merger. The rumor is sadly plausible in this fallen world.
  14. Dwarf Fortress is coming to Steam, with graphics!!! If I'm your secret Santa this year, you will be getting a copy. Non-negotiable. https://www.polygon.com/2019/3/13/18263905/dwarf-fortress-steam-graphics-workshop
  15. Dwarf Fortress will be on Steam?!? With GRAPHCIS?!?!?!?!?!?!?!?

    Word.

  16. Every time I despair of US politics, the absolute shitstorm around Brexit makes me feel better about the people of my country. I mean, the fact that so many Brits stand by the Tories is mind-bending.
  17. I really liked Widows, but it is only an ok movie. It was long and completely wasted Colin Farrell, who just stops being in the movie around the 2/3 mark. It should have been focused more on the widows and told the story from their perspective rather than incorporate all the politics shenanigans.
  18. I've been playing the new Civ Vi expansion (it's dope), but also mostly AC: Odyssey. I am really enjoying it, though I wouldn't call it a superb game by any measure. It's Ubi's version of The Witcher, only not as good.
  19. Prediction: the hijinks that undo IW will also cause everyone but a few core Avengers to be unaware IW happened. It may be time travel or other fuckery, but IW will essentially have never happened from everyone's perspective aside from a small group, who may end up dead or non existent themselves in the bargain.
  20. Old, but the thing that bothers me most about that Sonic poster with the Golden Gate Bridge is that I can't tell if he's supposed to be looking at the Marin Headlands or the Presidio. It looks wrong either way. I'd guess the Presidio, but the city is much, much closer in than that.
  21. 1. God of War. 2. RDR 2 3. The Return of the Obra Dinn 4. Into the Breach 5. Spider-Man
  22. Aquaman It was a mess, sure, but at least Khal Drogo had fun and it had very little of that leaden teenager's-idea-of-edginess and muddy visuals the pervious DC movies suffered from (though the heroes still move about in very unnatural ways in a lot of it).
