  1. "1080p graphics." That phrase really, really grates on me. It sets off all my redundancy alerts.
  2. Nah, in the war analogy all for-profit companies compete for market share. Switzerland would be some non-profit or, maybe, some sort of third party company. Nintendo gave up and tried to fight a different war for a market that wants kids games, cute games and casual games. But it's still France in that war when compared to iOS and Android.
  3. Hilarious. The Season Pass DLC is released before the main game. Kojima, you're a genius!
  4. War analogies are used all the time in all sorts of competitive industries. Nintendo is the France of the Console Wars.
  5. Arkham Origins. Messy and a retread of City, but it's a good and somewhat fun retread. 6/10. Rocksteady should do a Long Halloween-type game next and let the team who did origins do a stupid suicide squad game.
  6. No; you cannot backtrack from that encounter.
  7. I'd rate the game a 6 in the overall scheme of things. I understand why Sterling dinged it, though.
  8. IIRC, the x360ce thing needs a dedicated dongle for BT to work. Like, it can only ever be used for your ps3 controller.
  9. I know this. I'm just being a curmudgeon.
  10. It's true: nobody knows what the hell a "Batman" is, but everyone knows Arkham.
  11. I'd be more down with the Arkham branding if they'd throw in more Lovecraft stuff. Batman versus Shub-Niggurath and Her Thousand Young!
  12. I get mostly C's and B's. This is because I loathe the stupid fucking knife dodge.
  13. I'm about midway through A:O and I feel like I'm getting as many interrupts on beatdowns as I got in the latter half of AC. Hell, the same strategies I used to get through the high enemy count fights near the end of AC work almost exactly the same in AO. Played both games on default difficulty.
  14. What I linked will recognize PS3 controllers, too. Confusing at first because on-screen prompts are for xbox buttons, and you have to have a dedicated BT dongle to use BT (I don't; I use it wired), but otherwise fantastic and cheaper than getting a goddamned wired 360 controller for PC. I used to use a cheap logitech pad, but I wanted rumble, dammit.
  15. I thought MotionInJoy was spamware. I use: http://forums.pcsx2.net/Thread-XInput-Wrapper-for-DS3-and-Play-com-USB-Dual-DS2-Controller
  16. Having just completed Arkham City, I don't feel like the combat has changed a whole hell of a lot. The animations seem to be more fluid (Batman doesn't snap to the right distance from foes for a given attack as jarringly) and the timing for counters for new enemies takes a few tries to get used to, but otherwise not much difference.
  17. I dunno, Arguing that my X is better than your Y never gets old for a great many people.
  18. Marvelous. I cannot wait to read the fanboy rants about the resolution discrepancies.
  19. Arkham Origins. It's a Batman game and pretty well done. I feel like the facial animations are better than ever. A certain frustrating bug preventing completion of a particular major side quest is nigh-unforgivable, however. SPOILER
  20. 12 Years A Slave. not a fun movie, but a harrowing examination how one man is taken apart piece by piece during his time as a slave. Also loved watching talented British actors play Antebellum South dress-up.
  21. Almost lost my mind trying to figure out why the audio wasn't working in Arkham Origins. Turns out the in-game volume defaulted to all the way down.

    1. Waldorf and Statler

      Mr. GOH!

I'll be pissed if it's anti-piracy nonsense that also limits legit copies. I suspect it's just regular initial release tomfoolery.

  22. All the marketing media really makes the baddies seem like space Nazis.
