The Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim
TheForgetfulBrain replied to AcidCrownie's topic in Multi-Platform Games
I can vouch for this. Morrowind looks like balls now, but the satisfaction I got from that game has created long-lasting memories. ES5 looks absolutely incredible, and I simply cannot understand the negative reactions, but that I suppose I'm looking at it through a different lens. -
Jogging through the park is actually ideal - she lives across the street from Golden Gate Park, and we've done it a few times - it's just finding the time and getting our energy up. I know what you mean about exercise being addictive eventually, and progress making you more inspired to make more progress - it feels good after a while, it's just getting into a new habit that's the toughie.

Animations look much improved so far. Hooray! -
Exercise buddies are definitely the way to go. I've been trying to get the girlfriend to start exercise with me pretty much since we started dating (and I stopped exercising), but it is a difficult task, especially when she brings out the puppy eyes - "But I don't want to!" Aiiihy. Rebuffing my attempts soon.

Huhh, they do? Shit. I used to be a paid member till I took the Student Prime offer. Gwarr! -
Ohh. New people. Hello, new people! And Dex. Prepare to meet your Master.

I've tried going to the gym a few times, but I never keep up with it and it ends up being a huuuuge waste of money because those predatory bastards know that a large portion of people that sign up for the gym are going to do just that - go rarely - so they get you into these huge contracts that are a bitch to get out of, and they make some really shady deals. Hell, the 24 I went to was part of a class-action lawsuit for charging people's credit cards after they'd canceled. I'd like to do a gym-thing eventually, perhaps, but for now I'm going to try and do the running thing again and some minor home-weight lifting, sit-ups/push-ups. Ugh. Gotta start doing that again. And Peteer - thanks! I'll try and do the past 10pm thing.

TL;DR comment?! BAN!! I kid! Yeah, the old comments don't string together at all really. The jist of it is that excel_excel made an off-handed comment saying he could imagine how a military-friendly city could be disturbing, the keyword being imagine. Then some guy decided to rip him a new one and went off on some tirade about how the Military are full of stand-up guys and gals only in it for their country, etc, etc, and how he was an asshole or some shit for imagining a disturbing scenario. Then I came in and foolishly tried to get the guy to see where excel_excel was coming from but he was having none of it. Unfortunately, he was the friend of the hammer wielder and I think that's how I got my ban. It's the only comments I could find that seemed liek they could be taking as ban-worthy anyway. tl;dr-tl;dr: Off-handed comment prompted ragepost which prompted my defense post which promtped another ragepost which I assume promted a ragetelltale. Unjustified! Unjustified, I say! Ah well. Can't keep us down!

I love greasy food and I love beer. Great for the morale, not so great for the wallet or the physique and general bodily systems, particularly in a multi-year binge. My once rail-thin physique now looks something like this: Anyway, I'm miles deep in credit card debt and waist deep in stomach, so it's time for me to wave longingly at my dearly beloved booze and fatty treats and start some willpower rolls. Right now, I'm gonna shoot for soup and salad at meals, and oatmeal or lowfat yogurt for breakfast. On that note - General thoughts on diets, personal experiences, dreams and aspirations, etc?

Well, it's like how I bought Civ 5 at launch and have only played one full game. It's something I'd probably enjoy, but I'd need to let myself devote a bunch of time to, for the launch price to be worth the buy.

Hmm, I was too lazy to read the whole thread and kind of confused by how the comments strung together, but I'm gonna go with unjustified. What was the jist for the jerkwads like me that are like: "tl;dr - btw, what was that about?" Before I became The Forgetful Brain as everyone knows me now, I was a lowly unstarred commenter, slowly swimming through Kotaku's midst, some three, four years ago. Back then I was called 'Sir Carrot,' my old go-to pseudonym. Anyhoo, there was an article by Bashcraft on doki doki majo shinpan, and I decided to use some of the brand new interweb language I had recently picked up, and in poorly attempted satiric jest, said. "TITS OR GTFO." I believe it was meant to be a subtle, yet witty commentary on the fact that games like that exist without going the full mile, but it got me a good, firm ban. I don't remember if it was Fahey, McWhertor or Bashcraft that did it, but I recall feeling quite ashamed and disheartened and staying off of Kotaku for a number of months. After that, I was very careful about what I posted, and if anything was in jest, I was sure to explain why and that it was in fact in jest.

Yeah - a good one, too. ATI Radeon 5870. I could play it with DX11 up through the first battle before the actual game starts, but once you clicked 'Start Game' or whatever under Character Creation, it would freeze. Tried it twice to make sure it wasn't just a fluke and actually was an issue with DX11. It worked only once I switched it to DX9. Regardless, it'll be fine in the real game no doubt.
-
I couldn't even run it with DX11 - I'd get to the character creation and the game would freeze. Had to replay the opening battle with that stupid ogre three times, due to that.

Only thing that sucks is I'm gonna be away from the PS3 this weekend. ='[

I was playing with Malicious, Heartless and Sindo last night for a few hours, and all of them were dominating. Malicious in his last few matches had a stupid crazy k/d ratio. I hope some more of you end up with the game - from the KZ3 Beta thread, I thought a lot more people were going to pick this up, considering how many were playing there. Well, eventually hopefully!
-
I would, but I have no game development know-how. I think the biggest issue would be our lack of coders and animators/visuals people.

Yeah, screens of the Witcher 2 so far look like pure cream. The original game floored me with atmosphere - I need to finish it first though, someday, somehow, with some time I'm not sure where I'm going to get...

Awesome! I'll have to give it a shot the next time I'm looking for something to watch. -
Ohhhh exciting!!

Ha, Witzbold. I remember the days of Witzbold. And then eventually even he got destarred multiple times. Oh, the fickle hammer of Kotaku.

I've had my eye on this for quite a while, but after playing the demo I'm not going to get it for now. It just seems like a huge time investment in order to really get the most out of it, and I've got way too many other games on queue.
-
I take this back. In the best tradition of gaming, despite all my naysaying I would still preorder this if not for the fact that you can't get the preorder bonus DLC anymore, so I feel like I'm getting screwed out of content. I know - that's a bummer. There's so many different tiers of Bonus Content and items for this game, some depending on when you pre-ordered it, others just from following the game for a long time and jumping on special offers, that it kind of sucks for anyone who waited to make up their mind first, and actually seems like a deterrent to purchasing now (unless they don't know about all the stuff they're missing).

Okay, so finally got around to playing it. Except for the redesign of the darkspawn, I really like the new visuals. I also actually quite like the new gameplay. That said, I have some gripes. I'm not too fond of 'Guy' Hawke's voice, but I suppose it will grow on me. The characters and companions that you have by the time the demo ends, I'm not too fond of either - I know, not a fair assessment after such a short time, but they look and feel kind of like the filler characters you expect to die off. Hopefully there's more standout characters as the game progresses, as almost all of the characters from Origins were brilliant. I'm also concerned they removed dual-wielding from the warrior class - the locked Vanguard class *might* be dual-wielding, but I kind of doubt it. Which sucks - that's how I like to play my warrior classes, with two swords, and it was excellent in the first game - I'm bummed if rogues are the only ones that can dual wield now. Story wise, I was surprised - initially I thought it took place long after Dragon Age II, but I guess it's more of a parallel deal, and the reason it doesn't conflict with DA is because you're on another continent. It was also a bit of a revelation that you're not a Grey Warden. Also, like Pir said, geez, Flemeth sure dressed up for the Champion. As most of you probably know, I've been a huge supporter of this game so far, optimistic from the first announcement. While I'm still ready as hell to play it, I'm already getting kind of nostalgic about a few of the changes from DA, and I'm less stoked about 'Hawke' than I was before. That said, I'm sure I'll still love the hell out of this game.

On it now! Will be for a while probably. I'd just like to note that my first official kill of Killzone 3 today, was a triple kill. Yep, I'm gonna be nerdy and proud of that.
