  1. So I'm loving this game to death. Well, until I got to the 100 jump rope scores Power Moon. I got to 70 naturally and I like to think I'm great with rhythm games. The problem with this is that Mario's jump has different heights based on how long you hold the button. Even when you think you're lightly tapping the jump button, it only takes a slight duration shift to throw your jumps into eventual failure. So I looked up some tips and ultimately I relied on this glitch which still works today. Now there is the whole "Jump at Hey" method, but the point stands that Mario's jump isn't always 100%. It's why people found success with doing the challenge on a scooter. I tried that and could not get the positioning down.
  2. I can't believe we're back to Friend Codes, but truthfully all of Nintendo's "handhelds" have been FC-based. SW-5859-7941-8381
  3. I personally went with the Anker GlassGuard screen protector, but I see it's currently unavailable. It was super easy installation and the Switch screen is too sexy to leave unprotected. So yes, you are a [absolute] madman!
  4. For those of you guys getting digital games, how much storage have you used up? I'm trying to decide if I should get a 64GB or 128GB microSD card.
  5. I've owned my Switch for less than a week. When I pull my Switch out of the dock, you can see where it makes contact on the screen. So long as you have a screen protector, you'll be safe. I've looked into dock alternatives, but everything seems to have a consequence to it. Hard to dock onto, or pull out seems to be the most common.
  6. So honest question; what did ya'll think of the Porgs? I honestly liked them, which I originally thought I wouldn't. I much prefer them over Ewoks (Yub Nub to Hell). When I first saw them, I basically thought of space puffins. Turns out, the island is home to a crap ton of puffins as a wildlife preserve.
  7. So I got a Switch last week, but today I got up the courage to apply my screen protector. Operation successful! From a hardware perspective the Switch is neat, but from a software standpoint it's actually cool and simple. I like the way the screen reacts when you put on the Joycons. It's also not very busy, something that can end up happening on the PS4. The eShop seems to only be for games, which is a bit disappointing because I had hoped there would be Themes. Right now there's only White or Black. I only have Splatoon 2 currently, but you know I'll definitely be getting Super Mario Odyssey!
  8. Spent the New Year cleaning up dog piss. The ol' gal's bladder ain't what it use to be.

  9. Jumanji: Welcome to the Jungle Hear me out; it's not that bad of a film as you might think it could be. I laughed more and harder than I thought I would for the duration of the film. It's not nearly as dramatic as the first film. It's more action and comedy focused compared to it as well. It didn't come off cheesy and while there's some obvious Sony product placement, it's never obnoxious with it. Also, while it may be based on "video games," it's just basic old school gaming jargon that's included. You know, three lives, levels, and character stats ("strengths" and "weaknesses"). I also thought Dwayne "The Rock" Johnson, Kevin Hart, Jack Black, and Karen Gillan were all good in their roles. Especially Jack Black who basically had to act like a teenage girl, but not be too stereotypical. There's also a few neat nods to the first film too.
  10. Has that been confirmed? I remember the bit at the end of the trailer, which made me think of the possibility.
  11. Gameplay wise I enjoyed Catherine immensely. While the story isn't some masterpiece and some of the details are foggy in my memory, I was engaged in it. With that said, I don't see how adding a third woman in Vincent's struggle is beneficial in the game's narrative. Sure it'll be more eye candy for the player, but part of Vincent's struggle is the polarizing nature of Catherine and Katherine. Does he mature and become a respectable man for Katherine, or does he wade in youth where he can have excitement with Catherine.
  12. So I got Star Wars Republic Commando when it was $2.97 on Steam. Never have played it, so this is my first time with a game that's toted as being great and underrated. HOWEVER, word to the wise you'll want to install the mod fix for the graphics and UI. By default the game was giving me trouble and was absolutely ugly given the poor bitmapping. Once I got the mod installed, I could actually play the game better (and no eye strain)!
  13. I went into the film knowing most spoilers. With the amount of online drama I've seen, I had to know. Glad to say most of it is loaded hyperbole. I guess I won't go over too much that's been said, but on the obvious points. Luke was amazing and showed how people can change based on past failures and trauma. It's human and shows the fallacy in legends. I legit cried when, you know... As for Snoke... My ranking for the Star Wars films The Empire Strikes Back A New Hope The Last Jedi The Force Awakens Return of the Jedi Rogue One Revenge of the Sith The Phantom Menace Attack of the Clones And if you really want, the Clone Wars theatrical film would be the absolute worst, but we're all better off if we forget it ever exists.
  14. Star Wars: The Last Jedi Anyone who says this movie sucks needs their head checked. I have to be that blunt because it's almost insulting how people will talk-down the strengths of this film. There are problems, but just because your damn theory didn't work out or can't accept lose, don't go ragging on the film. Saw it twice just to make sure I wasn't biased and I wanted to take the family to it. Everyone was laughing, crying, and most were saying they liked it based on the chatter during the credits and leaving the theater. Only ones I heard saying it was stupid were damn man-children or some old farts who probably don't enjoy sci-fi movies in the first place. I'll go over it in the Star Wars thread.
  15. The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild I mean, it's my new favorite game of all time, so of course it's my GOTY 2017. It's slow to start with easily breakable weapons, but it's all uphill from there. While I would say having more "dungeons" would be nice, I liked searching for the shrines and completing most of the puzzles. I haven't even played all the DLC yet; the base game by itself is GOTY material. Honorable Mentions: Cuphead While the gameplay is challenging and in some light thrilling, there's an element of luck to it. Still, the fact that all the animation is actually drawn and the music is faithful to the era of classic animation. I still hum the DIe House theme to myself from time to time. Resident Evil VII It was frightening at first, then went back to being more of an action game. Still excellent and did not disappoint. However, I absolutely dislike when storyline DLC comes out long after the initial release of a game. Not a Hero was suppose to be spring, but almost a year later it comes out. (It's still free though.) I Need to Finish: NieR: Automata I haven't finished it yet, but the combat, style, and its very progression is stunning. Super Mario Odyssey I need to play this and it bothers me that I've gone this long already.
  16. Getting Ending W in the beginning of NeiR: Automata was rage-inducing. Protip: Don't be afraid to use "too many" Recovery Items. Kinda ruined my experience when I got double-team stunlock'd by the twin razors and had to... you know. *wink*

So... want to tell us what is on your mind about NieR: Automata?

  17. Yeah, something like Forge. We already have a terminal by the Infinite Forest gate, so I could see it being like Archon's Forge. To help cut back on having too many levels, or really just crap levels, each user could make a Infinite Forest stage per three different difficulties. That, or perhaps a single stage that can be made more difficult by modifiers and other scenarios. You'd have to show it's beatable by playing through it yourself too. Once that's done, you as the creator could get rewards for when people successfully clear your stage. Now this is all random, so no one is going to have "Top 5 Popular" stage priority, so it balances the amount of rewards everyone gets. Honestly, this would bring a slice of variety to Destiny 2. If people could justify playing the same Strikes multiple times, imagine the Infinite Forest truly being almost infinite. (Obviously there's a quantity, but it would be too damn high for one person to play them all.)
  18. I never finished Monster Hunter 4: Ultimate on 3DS, but I'm excited for Monster Hunter World. After playing the demo on PS4, I think I just like playing MH games on console.

  19. Agreed. I would say Osiris spending his time in Vex simulations would make sense. His whole ordeal is that he has always seen the Vex as the true threat to humanity. I forget which piece of gear has the Lore tab about this, but it summarizes the tipping point to where the Vanguard exiled him. Everyone was more focused on the Hive, the only faction that has a direct allegiance to the Darkness. They are and have been a direct opposition to the Light. However Osiris saw the Vex wanted neither Light or Darkness. The Vex sought to bring about Nothing. Because of his almost near acceptance of Darkness, he was branded a radical and unfit to stay in The Last City. The point I'm making is that I believe the whole "Curse of Osiris" is where Osiris sees this threat to humanity, but no one would listen to him back on Earth. Granted he has a cult, but unlike before he doesn't have the same authority to rally against the Vex's plan. Now there's Ikora, but point being that for all his prowess, he is bound to his prior actions and the view of the people. But it's alright with him afterwards... I mean, now that he has Ikora and us to confide in if anything should go nuts. But really, the story would have been better if the whole Vanguard go involved. Sure Ikora is fine with Osiris, but this would have been a great moment to begin remedying the conflict between Osiris and Zavala. Otherwise, Sagira is the only one who actively does anything with our Guardian. And no I'm not going to count Ikora's Tri-Beam attack... The Infinite Forest has so much potential. It could be a permanent staple of Destiny 2 where each Guardian could devise their own simulation and have it be part of this pool of millions of levels. Guardians would be able to play from this pool of levels and get rewards. Sorta like playing Mini Strikes! As more content comes out in Destiny 2, the Infinite Forest could update with the new assets.
  20. I fell like there's a specific drug I need to be on to get what Death Stranding is trying to show me. All I'm getting from it is like a what-if scenario where the world of Metal Gear Solid meets Lovecraftian horrors.
  21. Never read or watched the source material. Instantly was put off by the giant eyes; even the other androids have normal eyes.
  22. Soon NieR: Automata, soon! When the month becomes ever colder and all will hide inside their homes, your treasures will be revealed to me!

Get to it. 2017 is almost over!

  23. Bright Engrams are hardly worth getting up in arms about, unlike the progression codependent loot boxes of Battlefront II. However, it's a broken system that ended up inversely screwing over players, but no one truly plays for Bright Engrams as an endgame. It's just one of the three things you can do for the current endgame if you're tired of the Leviathan and think D2 PvP is terrible. Emphasis on that last point because it's why people still play D1 to this day. Much like how Blizzard gets away with Overwatch loot boxes, Bright Engrams are bundles of shiny cosmetic fluff. I still hope that, in the future, games will move away from loot boxes. Even when developers don't want to, we have to look at publishers like EA and Activision (EDIT: typo) with a critical eye and be watchdogs for the future generation of gamers. If you told me last year the next Call of Duty would have loot boxes, I'd laugh at the absurd nature of your claim. And that Special Edition Ghost Speaker is $90... On a more positive note, Music of the Spheres! If you have no idea what this is, there's some text in the first two minutes that explain the tragic tale of Music of the Spheres. Say what you will about Destiny, but its music has always been the highest of quality.
  24. I want my Guardians on Earth so bad. It'll be interesting what Thor says to convince them to risk their lives for Earth. Sure it's Quill's home planet, but he hasn't been back since. And I'm always up for more Strange too. Love the character, just he had an alright solo film.
  25. You haven't lived until you've eaten steak cooked by sous vide. The most tender and juiciest of steaks I've ever ate in my life have been by sous vide. All you've got to do is the finishing touch of grilling/caramelizing the outside for a few minutes and it looks like a conventional steak. Except it's better in every conceivable way. I've had too many steaks where the cook doesn't seem to know what medium is and I get a sloppy "medium rare" where all the juices have collected in the all-red center of the steak, but the outside is dry well-done. It's why I favor going medium on steaks because it lets me test if the restaurant even gauges internal temp and proper cut.
