The gameplay? There wasn't any gameplay. It was footage representative of gameplay. Which makes me very skeptical considering how old this project is now.

Dash canceling is definitely the thing that separates the more casual fighting game fans from the ones who are very competitive.

GameFly then?

For those who don't want to go to the site: 1/5 require a tablet, though Space Chem has a note about its resolution: I'm not sure I'd be willing to pay such a high average at this point. If only this was in September.

What about Fallout: New Vegas? They're not getting shit from Bethesda because they didn't get an 85 on metacritic. I'm pretty sure that a fan telling them they loved the game is all they're going to get.

Is money the only way to show that you appreciate someone's work? Most musicians don't care about piracy because they want people to enjoy the music. You don't think there are any game developers out there who are the same? We've seen a few indie titles releases that make versions just for pirates that aren't all that different except for a message or two about buying the game or other small tweaks. Obviously, they want someone to buy the game, but who in their right mind would get mad because someone greatly enjoys the piece of art that you made?

You're a simple man, aren't you?

If there was a way to support developers more directly I'd do it. Though the bigger issue is the influence publishers have on developers... it's not exactly a black and white thing. Personally, I don't think it's morally wrong, as I do buy plenty of games. I have no problem spending money on games. As for the fair use thing... well that sounds like another argument entirely. Do you just mean pirating to demo and nothing more?

^The swap meets I went to in California as a kid had tons of dodgy goods. Adidas clothing with the wrong number of stripes and whatnot.
-
You mentioned "right" and fair use.

A scone is like a sweet biscuit (american biscuit) with filling inside.
-
Who said I have a right to have it? I don't care the slightest bit about legality. Do you think the developers would be pissed off that someone is enjoying their game? Ideally, that is why developers make games, for themselves and others and not for money. The reality of course, is far different.
-
When you buy a game, you support the publisher more so than the developer. Unlike in music, where you can go see the band live or buy merch, there doesn't exist an option to directly support the people who make the product.
-
Should we take this to the piracy thread? Because the big issue I see here is publishers vs. developers. I can like a developer, but abhor who they work for.
-
They're likely worried about consumer confusion. They damn well should be.

It sends the message that PC gamers are interested in their games. Japanese companies in general aren't too keen on releasing their games on PC and From Software has very, very few PC releases in their history, and only one in their recent history. That game in itself is much less ambitious than either of the Souls games. The reality of the situation is that they're under a shitty publisher who won't give them more time to work on the PC port (I really doubt they'll stick with Namco/Bandai beyond this) and that they also have very little, if any for that specific team, PC experience. This is a company that listens to their fans, which is why it's getting a PC release at all.
-
Yeah, I remember getting it signed being a big deal back in the day, and cost the dude some good cash. With that said, is there anyway to block out those elements? Perhaps with a hosts file tweak?
-
Of course I would want it to have all of the nice PC goodies (or even the average ones) I entirely knew that From Software wasn't capable of such a thing. I'll still pick this up to support their efforts though, especially so that they can put more effort into the next PC port they do.

I can see what he's saying, I think. For me a 'Guilty Pleasure' is something that I really shouldn't enjoy, but do. However I probably wouldn't tell anyone about it. Examples being Katherine Heigl movies, and Lava Lamps. Yes, I like Lava Lamps. Regardless, if you enjoy a film then enjoy it. There's no need to feel bad about it. This. If the movie was unintentionally terrible but you still enjoyed it, that'd be a guilty pleasure. I'm with Dan and don't think you should feel bad about anything you like.
-
Guilty pleasure? Isn't it intentionally over the top and schlocky?
-
Just like on a console!
-
Exactly.

So yeah... it's just the console version, but on your computer. At this point this is just confirmation of expectations. At least Blighttown doesn't suck anymore. The next thing I'm wondering is how it runs. IIRC the requirements were high.
