@eleven There's plenty of stuff I think is legitimate and Apple rightfully: Touchwiz's icons for example. However, as others have noted, it's the more basic stuff that's worrying. Is anyone else not surprised that the American jury sided with the American company?

Is that also built into the Windows Marketplace apps like it's built into iOS and Android?

What do you mean more than can be justified? They don't appear to be storing the data. All that is, is checking what you download to another list, and then giving you a warning if they think it might be harmful. When you install Windows 8, you can turn it off before you even boot into it.

The thing about bounceback is that Apple didn't invent it. They were just the first to implement it in a smartphone. That's what a lot of these patents seem to be. Taking the logical step in the design of technology as a whole.

http://www.gog.com/news/indies_invade_gogcom_this_weekend GoG has Legend of Grimrock and Tiny Big: Grandpa's Leftovers for half off. I'm tempted since I've been waiting to get these DRM-free and not through Steam. I'm broke though. =( Torchlight, Darwinia, Space Chem, and Geneforge 1-5 also have deals along with the Ultima series which was already on sale earlier in the week.

Saint's Row 2. I got it out of my system. I'll catch Sleeping Dogs during a super cheap sale way into the future.

Incompetence? In the non-insulting way, yes, they are incompetent. This is their first PC port. The other From Software game that was on PC wasn't ported by them. Hopefully they learn some lessons and continue to port to PC in the future. Or just outsource it again (though I think that was Bamco's doing.)

Not play The Sims 3.

Hmm... Did it lost that weird oily filtered look by doing that? It seems like it.

Game of Thrones (Current episode spoilers)

IIRC, when we talked about it before, it was basically "just be very specific about your spoilers." Everyone seems to be doing well since then. -
It's a pun!

I saw some dude's thread on Reddit talking about how it looks a tiny bit better than the console versions and the framerate is much more stable.

What happens if you use Outlook (web version)?

I would assume the post-processing is heavy in this one. GTA screenshots have always looked better than the actual games. Hell, that shot in particular looks to be a cut above the other screenshots. http://www.rockstargames.com/V/ Just look at the last two. Suddenly, the game isn't looking like some graphical masterpiece.

So... where are the 1080p screenshots?

Guys. We're talking about an author who frequently has spelling errors and the only person who edits the book barely changes anything. -
The resolution, the shadows and textures on the more zoomed out shots.

There's no web client that's anywhere as capable as a desktop client. Especially for stuff like this. You could get a portable version of something like Thunderbird and throw it on Dropbox so you always have access.
-
Why not just use a client for all of your email. Gmail, these two accounts you're talking about, etc. That's what clients are for. Easy management of multiple addresses.

I aim this disgust at the industry rather than the pirates. Sure, there's plenty of pirate douchebags who never buy games that could. However, what happened with music is that piracy became rampant and tons of new things popped up that didn't exist before. Suddenly we had iTunes, which people bitched about it until it was DRM-Free, amongst countless other options. Nowadays we have Bandcamp, which has everything from 24-bit FLAC down to whatever you want, and only takes 15%. It's not tied to any service or platform: it's all in the browser. It's beautiful. Music piracy has also led to a greater awareness about how much artists get screwed over by major labels and ways to support the artist rather than the industry. The game industry is only now starting to get to the point where we're seeing any sort of changes. Obviously, the big companies have not reacted well: DRM, shady business models, etc. I don't think any of these issues are going to be resolved this generation. We have no idea what next-gen will be like in this regard. Sony, MS, and Nintendo still have too much control because unlike the music or movie industry you need certain hardware to be able to enjoy certain things. Imagine if Paramount had their own DVD player and that's the only thing you could use to play Paramount movies?

They are most definitely 360 shots. Bullshots at that, but still console shows. It's really noticeable on the one with the tennis courts and the parachuting one where we can see a lot more of the environment. Impressive, but not anywhere close to impossible.
-
I wonder how their piracy numbers were before and after their draconian DRM though. Also, you can't lose something you never had. Putting piracy into such terms makes no sense.

Wait... what? I thought this sort of workplace discrimination wasn't allowed?

Because GRRMs thing is denying tropes whenever possible and doing the unexpected. -
I haven't yet seen a site explain the difference. Is it the number of computers you can install it on?
