  1. Then approach it with an open mind and give it a try!
  2. Did the rest of the thread consist of people pointing out their stupidity? Seriously. Every card comes with an auto-updater. Steam has one, too.
  3. Who are these people? FFS even beyond the auto-updaters from Nvidia and AMD this is built into Steam.
  4. For Americans the 80s is considered to be a hugely different time in culture. Like was pointed out it could have just been called GTA: 80s as that's where a lot of the inspiration came from and not Miami specifically. Miami just made the most sense to host the 80s satire with things like Scarface and Miami Vice being inspirations.
  5. "Beginning in 2014, there will be multiple SteamOS machines to choose from, made by different manufacturers." This is why they haven't revealed anything. Like what was mentioned before a "steam box machine" is more of a spec/minimum requirement than it is any one thing. "The specific machine we're testing is designed for users who want the most control possible over their hardware. Other boxes will optimize for size, price, quietness, or other factors." So anyways we might end up seeing specs of the test machine itself in a few months.
  6. A week later than everyone else I got to Trevor in GTAV. I think I'll beat it by the time GTA Online is out. I don't see why they couldn't capture a similar feel in a "modern" time setting. It's not like they're bound by reality. What? Have you never played a GTA game? They're completely bound to reality because every bit of the satire and the world is based on reality.
  7. In an extremely dark show you're not expecting a dark ending?
  8. IDK... would a modern Miami be as interesting? I don't think it would be. That's very much a "place and a time" sort of game.
  9. I hope it's 75 minutes without commercials. They definitely could use the time.
  10. Am I the only one who is tired of all of these cities? They should do something completely new. Maybe go international. Hell it's been long enough since The Getaway. Do London if we're just choosing places they've already done.
  11. What is the specific part of the hardware that makes a Nvidia GPU Shield compatible? It could just be bullshit in an effort to get people to upgrade. As someone who isn't a PC gamer what is appealing about this to you so far? Basically at this point it is: 1) An OS you install on a HTPC to play some games natively and stream the rest from your current gaming PC 2) An OS you install onto a gaming worthy PC and give up anything released for Windows with the incentive that AAA support is coming. 3) An OS you dual-boot alongside Windows. To put things into perspective there's under 200 native-Linux games on Steam with AAAs apparently coming next year. But obviously you won't see many (if any) devs porting their old games over unless this gets huge. That would also not apply to DirectX-powered games. Honestly, unless they get some sort of crazy built-in WINE solution I don't think this is enough to appeal widely just yet. It's a start but once you actually sit down and imagine how you would use it you see that it's limited (or really expensive.) I definitely see this appealing to the crowd who have a computer in one room and don't want to run a 50 foot HDMI cord into another. I'm not in that crowd currently but I would have considered it in my previous apartment.
  12. Define lag free. 0ms? No, I'm sure it has some sort of actual lag but in 30 minutes of Metro: Last Light I didn't notice it. Other people have had similar experiences. Of course you'll invent some other reason to say that this is wrong despite this.
  13. None of those are really fast enough for anything but slow strategy games, there's too much latency for anything that requires fast responses. Splashtop has been quite nice for streaming XCOM, Civ V, Reus, Godus, etc to my laptop though. Well yeah, hence it being a bit of a joke that it requires having a Windows PC to play 90% of the games on Steam. Only 183 games are going to run natively, everything else you better hope you're fine with Europa Universalis and such. So what you're think they're doing this even though the latency is terrible? I'm guessing you've never heard of the Nvidia Shield?
  14. This is only an issue if you didn't put together the system yourself. At that point you just need to disable the feature: www.howtogeek.com/116569/htg-explains-how-windows-8s-secure-boot-feature-works-what-it-means-for-linux/
  15. GTA4 was such a piece of shit, so it doesnt take much to fall in love with this one. Funnily enough I was playing it at my friends house who kept pointing out all of these cool things that were happening with the physics and gameplay and I repeatedly had to keep reminding him that 90% of what he was seeing was in GTA4. But since it's not thrown in your face people missed it. GTA4 was a great game played by shitty people.
  16. No, it was 54 minutes. 75 minutes was with commercials.
  17. Like the rest of the world I've been playing GTAV this week. About 10 hours in. It's a fun, well-made game. But really... it's just GTA. I just can't get obsessed over it like I used to.
  18. Surprise Nvidia partnership? Makes good sense the more I think about it, and what Dean mentioned. I would think that the only sticking part would be negotiating the Shield running Jelly Bean. But, not a deal breaker, as it's not the hottest thing on the market. Android is Linux and this likely won't be a portable.
  19. Ignore these children. I didn't realize Nintendo had anyone with such a long tenure. That is a long time at any company. This guy's life was Nintendo until he retired.
  20. I only remember one bad one in that boat graveyard or whatever it was.
  21. Aren't loot drops or some shit done on the server even if you're playing by yourself?
  22. My friend is in their touring opener and Touche Amore is playing as well... I'm considering it.
