Sorry, but I don't think the usage of the word "casual gamer" has turned the word "gamer" to mean "hardcore gamer." If ME3 is hardcore what do we call actual hardcore games and not mass produced super friendly titles like ME3?
-
Twee is a british term? But I've always called a sub-genre of indie-pop "twee pop." Never seemed related to any region. Also, what about book? "Book 'em" is exactly what I think of when I think of cops from the 50s and 60s. In America. Anyways, didn't we already discuss a very similar article?

ME3 is hardcore? What. Just because a game isn't casual FB shit doesn't make it hardcore
-
Yeah, but for how many months?

Hehe pussies can't handle Lars Von Trier movies.

Fuck off.

I picked 6 as well. Some of them are too close to the original cover, one or two I don't think would be good covers at all, so 6 was what I was left with for looking like a cover, but more importantly, looking like an alternate cover. Something a bit more artistic without going overboard.

Casual.

I would even go as far to say that you probably wont be able to access windows on this machine. It just runs windows secretly, in the background. Probably customized enough so somethings that are memory eaters that allow windows to run certain things to be turned off. I don't know much about programming, but it is my understanding that Windows has a lot of processess running that are not essential to running Windows itself, but essential to running Windows as a full experience. Maybe those will be eliminated in the programming? Also, because the Xbox uses Direct X, does it run a heavily optimized version of Windows? I'm fairly certain you can't license Windows and do any of this. Microsoft does this because they're motherfuckin' Microsoft.

Holy shit is that real? Vanquish I've been waiting to buy for at least a year (it's on my "well I have an extra $25 this month" list) and Arkham City I was just going to get on Steam eventually on some crazy sale. Definitely stoked on this. I'm guessing those will be next month or in 2 weeks (Christmas) and not part of the Instant Games Library. We'll see. I am excited to get SSF4AE for free. We've been playing a lot of drunken local multiplayer at my apartment lately to start or end our nights.

Well there's your problem.

Also remember that this is on Valve time so it's more likely to compete with the Sontindeo Nipponimation and the Microsoft Ultimate Home Media Center Ad Delivery Device 2 (that also plays games) than the next-generation.

When do we ever see transparency from the marketing department? You know we'll never see these numbers. Personally I think that after all of this time they really have figured out how to market games compared to just a decade ago. So I'm not nearly as skeptical as you.

Even hands are pretty different. Just think of mice: Claw vs. ergonomic vs. what other types of grips people like.
-
Implying all bodies and hands are the same. Try shoving a fat ass into a racing seat or a little kid into a regular sized seat. There is no one fit solution.
-
That's why you just let that shit run overnight and it installs automatically for you if have it set to shutdown after downloading.

People who buy a CE aren't judging covers in the same way. Which just supports the Bioschock Infinite cover.
-
It conveys even less about the game than the Bioshock Infinite cover. Also, lrn2hotlink. (Or rather, not to.)
-
But you're willing to buy this thing even if it means not playing most of what is currently on Steam and only playing stuff that comes out in the future that's Linux compatible?
-
What work around is there? You just can't run Windows in a VM- Licensing issues. WINE isn't a very good solution, either. That's why I bring up compatibility a few times.
-
Wasn't the ME2 CE cover just the n7 logo? That's a terrible fucking cover.
-
Yeah, it's going to be really interesting to see how this develops.
-
To me it kind of eliminates the point of a PC if you can't play most PC games on it and you're forced to buy newer titles that are built with it in mind. At that point it's just another console but it'll be easier to develop for. I see the benefit in that but it just seems like it really would divide Valve's user base.

They originally planned cross-platform again for CS:GO. Forgot why they cut it. I think it had something to do with how frequently CS:GO was going to be updated and how that wasn't viabel for a console version to keep up. But yeah, agreed on the second paragraph and that's what I see happening. I like Dean's idea of "Steambox compatible" eliminating the whole "Can my computer run it?" problem. They don't need to sell the hardware at a loss (they could) but just at cost like Google does. Though the obvious issue is PC stuff being more expensive to begin with so finding that right price point will be the issue here and yes they might have to take a loss to do it. So either way, this is looking pretty interesting. I was discussing with some people about the platform for it though: It basically has to be Windows. It won't be good if it's Linux and most games don't work on it. MS wouldn't let me release a Linux box with some sort of perfect Windows VM since it would still require a windows license. But who knows, they might just take the risk and make all future games Linux compatible and try to push other developers to do that. It's really too early to tell. This is all just fun speculation.

http://penny-arcade.com/report/editorial-article/the-art-of-commerce-why-bioshock-infinites-cover-doesnt-matter I'd be pissed of Mumford & Sons fans crashed a show I was at... what does he have against Limp Bizkit fans anyways?
