  1. You assume that not having an official API is going to stop people. I don't use iOS but I do know the apps exist. I assume they all want you to pay first though? I don't know how you try out apps on iOS.

      Long live local multiplayer!

Local MP is awesome... but I lost all interest in JSJ when I saw that was the only way, because it only happens like... every year or so, so it'd be played once then forgotten... and I'd have to buy more special one-time controllers to play it.

He wants to get it to work with everything he can: Six-axis, move, Wii controllers, etc.

  2. But they do turn people off to stuff. There have been a bunch of times (granted when I was younger and not as informed about games) that I ignored a game on the shelf because the cover made it look bland and crappy, only to (sometimes years) later find out that it was actually a really good game. If I saw that cover and didn't already know what Bioshock was I'd assume it was some shitty knockoff shooter and ignore it. That WAS the reaction I had to Uncharted 1, for example. Obviously Uncharted 1 sold fine, but can anyone here say whether that was because of or in spite of the box art? Yeah, and now look at you, you're not some 19 year old dude bro who only plays call of duty and madden now are you?
  3. You might want to ask Google about that one. "People can already search Google from their computers, why do they need a device that does this?" But Steam is a closed platform that isn't open-sourced! And what about the 99% of steam games that doesn't run on OSX and Linux? What would you even play on the Steambox besides Valve games and newer titles that are compatible? Anyways, to quit beating around the bush I'll make it clear what I see Valve doing here: If you provide easy to use hardware to push your service you will expand the people who use your service and make your money. This has the benefit of providing a solution for users who might think that PC gaming requires too much setup/knowledge/etc and possibly even be cost effective. For Valve, they get to tap into this market they aren't tapping into right now (or are minimally) and push their service. So it's not about Valve making money off of hardware. It's about getting more hardware out there that works with the service to more people and then making money off of the service. Which is why I brought up Google. Android is only free because they make money off of ad revenue. Which is why the Nexus 4 and the Nexus 7 are basically sold at cost. Services provide long term cash: If someone has a device that can connect to the service then they will dump money into the service (or ad-revenue in Google's case since they only recently started doing well with selling content.) I mean shit, I can think of a couple of examples just from Google relating to stuff like this. Not so much hardware but platforms that tie into the services that make them money.
  4. The guy's face doesn't stand out as much in that pic. Anyways, I still can't believe we're having this discussion, and continue to have it for every single piece of box art. Mass appeal and familiarity wins out over artistic value for shit like this. They don't want to turn people off more than they care about turning people on to it.
  5. I'm not getting your point. Why the fuck wouldn't they make money off of Steam in this case? Also, why are you assuming that they'd lock people out and force you to buy the box? All a steam box would be is a pre-built computer. It seems like you're jumping to the absolute most negative conclusions possible even though they completely clash with Valve's culture.
  6. That's exactly what you need to keep doing. Just try different types of beer that you haven't had over and over and vary brand when you've done that for everything you see regularly. You'll eventually figure out what you like. Also JD is overpriced. Just get Jim Beam instead.
  7. Yep, besides avoiding really sugary drinks, you just need to drink water. I think someone earlier in the thread was talking about a 1 drink= 1 cup of water rule.
  8. You say that but you know that sort of shit works. Movie posters are the same way.
  9. Yeah... for the worst hangover ever. Which is why I recommended beer. Those sorts of drinks have way, way too much sugar.
  10. Pfft, like they would know if it's the alcohol itself or the meds + the alcohol. Anyways, don't start off with hard alcohol. You won't know your limits and you'll drink too much. I'd recommend beer or wine. Beer probably is going to taste like shit to you at this point though.
  11. @Mal Is that chart when it's brewed or when it's available?
  12. I already mentioned they're waterproof, resist dirt, are breathable, and stink-resistant. They also have reflective tape built into the ankle seams but it's not reflective enough to be useful on a bike. If you buy shit, you get shit. If you pay more, you get much higher quality which translates to more comfortable and more durable. Once you get into raw denim territory you get jeans that you never even have to take off.
  13. Whoa, 31x34 is a crazy size. You twig.
  14. I was going to mention partitions myself. It's really the only viable way to work with all of these different things at once without the limitations of FAT32. I used one of the NTFS writing apps a few years ago and it wasn't very good... but I'm sure they've improved a lot since then since it was on OSX 10.4 or something.
  15. Muffin tops? Some of us aren't overweight and don't have this problem. Though yeah, if you don't know how to wear jeans properly, I can imagine that they would be strangling your junk.
  16. Hmm... what does the PS3 read? Does it only do FAT32? I'm kind of curious as to what you need to accomplish.
  17. I'm waiting out for the same price on GoG. Hopefully it happens this month.
  18. Oh you mean the one where you seem to think you know more than the guy who sells the product for a living?
  19. The only time I've never had room for my balls was when I had a pair of second hand women's jeans. They're men's jeans. Do you not think they account for ball room?
  20. I've been reading Snow Crash after I finished Flowers for Algernon and The Invention of Morel. Very entertaining.
  21. That should come from the material. Your nuts are going to sweat depending on how well the pants trap heat in. Space is irrelevant unless you wear baggy pants. Then you've already given up on looking good anyways.
  22. What exactly makes nutsack room comfortable? Don't you ever wear underwear that isn't boxers? It's way more comfortable to not have your shit flopping around everywhere. Well you probably don't have the drunken raging, biking, and longboarding life style that I do. I fuck cheap jeans up. Even some Levi's give out easily depending on the style. Also for Rev: They make so many different cuts, and different types of jeans (sturdy, stretchy, etc) within those cuts that they're hard to categorize. Their product line is huge. Which is my dad can buy his old man jeans and they're Levi's and I can stick to 514 and 511 and they're Levi's as well. I mean shit, they also make a competively priced bike jean, which is what I bought. Most other brands are more pricey.
  23. On sale that's the lowest you'll ever find Levi's. Gotta pay for your quality. Levi's are as low as I'll go or else you just have to replace them faster. Even though the ones I bought are breathable, waterproof, and stink-resistant, I got them on sale for $40. Great fucking dea.
